He should have done a proper research such as confirming with the Army and interviewing with people who were directly involved in 1996 Mulative war and even a interview with Lawrence and soldiers who are still alive. For your information there was a court of inquiry carried out by the Army and Lawrence name was cleared. Few days before this incident happened he was ordered to report to Colombo and was even sent a helicopter to report back to Colombo, to give a statement for the Gen. Kobbekaduwa commission court and that's why he was on duty leave. Lawrence was injured from a motar attack during the rescue mission, got injured to his spinal chord at the back of his neck and he was unconscious and everyone thought he was dead. He was also awarded a gallantry medal for being wounded in battle. I think this youtuber should do a further research with reliable and correct sources and deliver the true story. Just for your thought again, Lawrence who was a Colonel at that time facing court inquiry appointed by the Army Commander with Generals will not take any action if he had done even a slightest mistake. He had reported the camp vulnerability and has asked numerous times for special forces (commando) but they never provided.

Incorrect information about Lawrence Fernando, I personally know the whole story. You should have done a proper research such as confirming with the Army and interviewing with people who were directly involved in 1996 Mulative war and even a interview with Lawrence and soldiers who are still alive. For your information there was a court of inquiry carried out by the Army and Lawrence name was cleared. Few days before this incident happened he was ordered to report to Colombo and was even sent a helicopter to report back to Colombo, to give a statement for the Gen. Kobbekaduwa commission court and that's why he was on duty leave. Lawrence was injured from a motar attack during the rescue mission, got injured to his spinal chord at the back of his neck and he was unconscious and everyone thought he was dead. He was also awarded a gallantry medal for being wounded in battle. I suggest you to do a further research with reliable and correct sources and deliver the true story. Just for your thought again, Lawrence who was a Colonel at that time facing court inquiry appointed by the Army Commander with Generals will not take any action if he had done even a slightest mistake. He had reported the camp vulnerability and has asked numerous times for special forces (commando) but they never provided.

The loss of artillery units were detrimental for the subsequent battles. The firepower of the terrorists enhanced their moral. Ceypetco (Ceylon Petroleum Corporation) relased the funds for the purchase of these artillery units which were essential for the protection of our soldiers. They were taken away after killing and injuring couple of thousands of brave soldiers. Today, we have forgotten the sacrifices made by rhe soldiers and also the bleeding of the funds of Ceypetco which could have used to revamp the Refinery and install new ones. These artillery units duly supported by alternative officers would have save another thousands of our gallant souls and the monies would have saved thereby escaping the situation as of today. Politicians are corrupt but just blaming them for this disaster today faced by Sri Lanka saved from terror forces by the sacrifices of our soldiers will not help in future planning. Battleground mistakes, inexperienced handing and adhoc posting of senior grades and irresponsbly approving leave of experienced commanders are also a part of this whole failure as described by this journalist. It may not be the case, most probably. But why should we keep voids to speculate on our soldiers failures, though we finally won the war in an exemplary manner bringing disrepute to Indian Army soldiers involvement (It was unfortunate that the soldiers to sacrifice their lives)which escalated violence in North and East. In future Indian Army will win over all odds as they will employ Drones covering the length and breath of the Island and the coastal areas. Ukraine war shows the effectiveness of Drones.

Incorrect information about Lawrence Fernando, I personally know the whole story. He should have done a proper research such as confirming with the Army and interviewing with people who were directly involved in 1996 Mulative war and even a interview with Lawrence and soldiers who are still alive. For your information there was a court of inquiry carried out by the Army and Lawrence name was cleared. Few days before this incident happened he was ordered to report to Colombo and was even sent a helicopter to report back to Colombo, to give a statement for the Gen. Kobbekaduwa commission court and that's why he was on duty leave. Lawrence was injured from a motar attack during the rescue mission, got injured to his spinal chord at the back of his neck and he was unconscious and everyone thought he was dead. He was also awarded a gallantry medal for being wounded in battle. I think this youtuber should do a further research with reliable and correct sources and deliver the true story. Just for your thought again, Lawrence who was a Colonel at that time facing court inquiry appointed by the Army Commander with Generals will not take any action if he had done even a slightest mistake. He had reported the camp vulnerability and has asked numerous times for special forces (commando) but they never provided.
