    The EPSON XP-15000 is the replacement printer for the now discontinued Artisan 1430, but is it a good replacement? I review the features and even a side by side comparison with the 1430 and even the Canon Pro-100!

    I purchased the EPSON XP-15000 one year ago and i have been more satisfied with it than any other printer i've owned. I am an art photographer.

      How do you print from the rear? Im printing from my Mac and hitting preview on my photo, but the printer says no paper in the cassette. Even though I have my 11x17 glossy paper in the rear. Hopefully you can help, I’ve been trying to figure this printer for the last 5 hours and it’s just giving me a headache. No videos out on TH-cam that are useful

    I bought this printer. The nozzle check didn't pass. I ran the cleaning routine thrice to clean the nozzles. After three times it said ink is low in 4 out of 6 cartridges. I never even printed a SINGLE page even. And it says there's no ink left in cartridges. This printer is CRAP. STAY AWAY FROM IT.

    I am debating between the XP-15000 or the XP-970. I mainly print 8x10 flyers and printable disks, however the big thing i need a new printer (to replace my "end of life" Epson Stylus Photo R320) is to print custom model decals on specialty decal paper. I like the double sided printing option on the 15000 but i would also like to get rid of my HP Scanner. I am not interested in sublimation printing and as of Dec 2021 there appear to be several CISS kits for this printer. Please let me know which you feel would be the best printer for me as i need to buy one of them in the next 1-3 days, also many stores are already sold out of the XP-15000 but i have the General Manager at one of the best buy stores holding one for me at the geek squad center but he can only hold it until the weekend, and today is Thursday the 30th so a quick response would be helpful. Thank You, Milo

    This might be Water way under the bridge and I know this video is pretty old. Was wondering if the xp-15000 gives the same results color-wise as the XP 1430? I have an xp-950 that I have dozens of pictures adjusted to look exactly how I want. I believe is exactly the same as an XP 1430. I want to buy the xp-15000 but I am a little nervous that the colors may be different. I had a 24in pigment-based Epson printer and I had to to some serious editing on every single photo I printed to get them to look right. I've always used Epson ink maybe I'm crazy. What do you think? Will the XP 15000 give me the same results as XP 1430? Thank you.

    • @HillBrosTech
      @HillBrosTech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, I remember it prints better, but it wasn't significant enough to me to worry about adjusting. It sounds like your application requires more attention to detail. I didn't have to adjust anything that I recall, but the prints were slightly different, specifically with the reds and grays.

Thousands of prints. I love it. I'll be doing a video at some point. But it also handles all kinds of materials, thicknesses that the Epsons never could. Good luck & Happy Thanksgiving!

      @@HillBrosTech how much yield from the INK do you get with the CP100. I know it uses 8 Ink slots, as a graphic designer looking to print business cards, flyers, posters, envelopes and other small to medium designs, I am worried about the volume of print to Ink output. An example I would print 100 business cards in one go, or 200 invitations in one go or 75 corporate brochures for a single client. What I love about the CP100 is that it handles a variety of paper sizes and weights. Would this be a good buy for someone like me?

    This print ONLY auto-duplexes letter size paper. It also does not center properly on 12x18 stock with manual duplex, so we have to use Super B (13x19) instead. This is actually no built-in setting for 12x18 and you have to define a custom size. It's probably great for photos, but we have to use uncoated paper for printing artwork or the ink will spread.

    • @gskaffmack

      I agree. Another thing, this printer does not maintain defaults. It continuously defaults to the CD tray, which is ridiculous, considering that nobody in the world, Prince CDs anymore. It each paper and envelopes. I am truly sorry that I bought this printer.
      Photos are OK, but I do not agree with other reviewer‘s that they are equal to or better than the Epson artisan 1430.

Since then, the inks have run down to 6 cartridges empty. I have in it only Canon inks. Regardless, I am looking for a new printer with more economical ink cartridges (if there can be such a thing) and I came across the Epson XP 1500 which you reviewed. I am wondering this machine would be a match for the Pro1. I think so after seeing this review.

    Do you think it will print on cardstocks too? Like wedding invitations

    • @mrjessephillips
      @mrjessephillips 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I'm also wondering that. Except my application is to use 130# cover weight (350gsm). WOULD LOVE a video on cardstock speed of the printer. Or just your answer. Looking at the specs of the printer, Jericha, it does say on the epson website: "“specialty paper support accommodated through rear paper feed, maximum 23 mil paper thickness.” 23 mil means .023inches or 23pt, or almost .6mm. More than 500gsm, more than 200# Cover weight.
      So Epson says it will work. But you may have to feed each sheet by hand, which could take a long time. I've been researching cardstock printers for several hours now and it seems like all desktop printers will require me to print 130# card stock one sheet at a time. If your cards are thin enough (100# or 110#) I think there are some printers that will work with that from the auto-feed tray. Epson P800 for sure(I've heard) , but that one is way too expensive ($1,200).

  • @Dave4RonPaul

    How do I change it to 11x17? It's not giving me an option to add this. Under advanced settings it just says "Letter", "4 x 6", 3.5" x 5", "A4", and "Postcard" for the sizes to pick.

    Hi! I also posted a comment on your Artisan 1430 review. I am setting up my own business creating personalised greeting cards and will be using the printer to print directly onto cardstock either 270gsm or 300gsm I haven't yet decided. This will though be a decision I make upon selecting a printer. A lot of the cards will contain a photo, where I will print additionally on Matt photo paper. Does the 15000 have the capabilities to print on 300gsm? I noticed on your review of the Artisan 1430 that if you print on heavier cardstock then you sometimes get a black line around the edges of the print. Thanks in advance, your channel is extremely useful!

I can’t sell photos to my clients that are scratched. So I sent it back and decided to buy the Canon PIXMA pro 100 and comparing both prints from each printer the Canon by far prints takes the colors and details to a new level. And I’m not trying to bash the Epson printer I just think the canon gives you much more usable software to do so many more things with your printing needs. Yeah maybe I have a lemon but even comparing the printing of each of them there’s a big difference

    Thx for your review. One thing I would like addressed is more in depth info or demo of how the paper feeds in the xp 15000 vs the pro 100. My interest is in how much I am able to "run through" a printer in terms of canvas, fabric, etc. I would like to hear more about your comment of not using canvas in the xp 15000. It wouldn't feed? The print was bad?? I have a pro 100 new in the box sitting there for probably 2 years. I no longer do a lot of printing, but do have occasion for printing larger than letter size. I still mourn my Epson 1400. I will not buy a printer unless I know I can use cheaper/third party ink. I had all that worked out with my 1400. From what I can gather, using after market ink with the Canon Pro 100 seems a little more tedious. I am trying to decide to either purchase the xp 15000 or set up and use the pro 100. But really want to know which will suit my needs best. Epson says the 15000 works only with OEM ink. People are offering for sale chipless firmware. I appreciate your answers.

The ink usage was especially of interest, and somewhat troubling. My Artisan 835 has stopped printing anything but the discs, so I've been looking for a replacement. Thanks for the video, I was very curious about this printer. I'm also really hoping a 3rd party will develop a CIS. I had just fine tuned my 1430 with the CIS installed and the exact paper and settings that look the best for my prints and I found out that it was being discontinued. So now I've been wondering what the next printer I should get should be once this one goes down. Been considering buying a back-up 1430 since they are still avalable some places and I love how easy to use and durable they are.

      Glad to help! The 1430 is a workhorse printer. I failed to mention that the XP-15000 has a removable waste ink tank, which is a very welcome improvement from the 1430. The XP-15000 prints do look much better than the 1430 in my opinion, but no CIS is a downer, for now.

    Great video some time ago I bought the Epson 1430 because of you a it has been great until today not sure why but my black lo more gray and red, guess I will be buying the new Epson or do you recommend the canon pro 100, I have been using just Epson for a long time

      I'll be doing a review on the Canon Pro-100 soon. I do like the Canon Pro, but the Epson is also nice. I failed to mention in the video that the XP-15000 now has a changeable waste ink tank, which is extremely helpful if you print a lot like I do. The Canon Pro 100 is quite old of a model, I imagine that Canon may retire it soon, but who knows? It's a great printer too. But it's obscenely heavy, very big and is not as intuitive as either Epson printers in the video.

    Nice review!
    I see that a few different sites have the CISS systems for XP-15000 series. Only one is boasting a permanent chip(Alibaba(dot)com). I've never heard of them, but I'm curious if you've discovered any sites, perhaps more trustworthy? The 1430 is very difficult to find at a reasonable price, but the CISS is easy to find. XP-15000 is quite the opposite.

    Could you please supply a link to the third party inks you use. ALSO - does the printer accept them withour giving error messages. I tried using 3rd party inks on the XP960 and the printer either rejected them or did a "purge clean" before every print, hence draining all of the 3rd party ink. THANK YOU

    is the xp 15000 far superior to the et 7750 for print quality or is it quite close?
