Thank you for this excellent review, it is the main reasong why I got my own yesterday.
I hope you don't mind a little questions, since I really do not know what to expect, and I am thinking that my expectations might be a bit high.
But I printed an image with a few neutral grey areas. And here I can se thin vertical lines up close. They are not that noticable from afar, just when I hold it in my hand for a closer look.
It is just in the grey area, but not in darker parts of the image. It is a night based image with lots of darker areas.
I exported the image from Lightroom into Epson Print Layout, using the corresponding ICC profile from the printer and paper combination. I also went through the initial procedure to align the printer head and all that.

“There’s always going to be that grey area” - you wish😉 Seriously though here at our imaging bureau we print on the Epson P906, Canon Pro 300 and the 60” Epson but I’m looking at an extra dye based printer for super saturated glossy commercial output. Thanks heaps for this review! We will just continue to print B&W with pigments and grab one of these for some initial colour tests. Pity we can’t buy your Photospeed paper down under! A very nice printer. I bought one mostly for doing CAD drawing print for my projects and some photo prints. Years ago I owned the Epson 3880. With the quite small inks in the XP-15000, it is not a good choice as a photo printer as the cost of the inks. The P700 has more upfront cost, but cheaper in the long run for printing photos.

I'm just a hobbits graphic designer, so this is my first dive into a printer with more than CMYK. I just got this printer and while the p700 looks like a better fit for some of my work, it was out of my budget. This video helped me feel confident in my purchase. Now I just need to hone in those print profiles winch is something completely new to me.

I'm glad I saw this comment as I'm picking up my first printer as well and this one seems to be both in my budget and also available where I am currently staying. How has the printer been serving you? Anything to keep an eye out for?

Hi. Am I being simple or can you not solve the colour tinge on black and white by printing in greyscale, is this possible on this printer?

Hi Tim, thankyou for nice review. I have just purchased this printer recently. Im liking for what it is. I have a general question which is, What Margins do you use for the A3+ size prints and the A4 prints. I know can print 12 by 18 with a half inch margin but the margins you used look wider. Thankyou again for all rour reviews and great videos.

Have you tried doing mono without using the Advanced B&W software? I find my ET-8500 does a better job in 'normal' mode, with the bespoke profiles you guys made for me, is better than the Advanced B&W mode. Thanks for sharing Tim.

With a good profile I'd hope to get a little closer, i'll have to get the pritner back from Epson and give it a try. Tim

As I use Capture one and an old canon IX 6850 which does not really want to cooperate with the C1. But how is it to print from C1 and xp15000?

I am interested in purchasing this printer but I have some questions. Did you print from Lightroom, the epson software or some other kind of program? How much trial and error does it require before you come up with the desired results provided that the editing is solid? Do you really need to make a custom profile and if yes how is it done? I am hesitant to proceed because I hear all this jargon and I am not sure of what would be the right steps for good prints.

    • @FotospeedUK
      @FotospeedUK  ปีที่แล้ว

I normally use Lightroom to print my prints and with a good custom profile and screen calibration you should be able to produce good result without to much trail and error. At Fotospeed we offer free custom profiles you can download the profiling pack from our website. Hope that helps and please drop us an email if you have any other questions. Tim

Cheap to buy but Inks are V expensive and you only get 5 Ml carts at £55.00 for a set of 6. Better buying the Canon Pro 200 it's bit dearer but with 8 inks and larger carts it works out less expensive to run and you can by a good used one for around 250 quid.

Interesting about the B@W comparison to the p700 but if my ask.
Would consider the et8550 in B@W advanced modes to be marginally superior,
    Thanks for the video👍
    Regards Mark
