I’m on step 5 for the firmware update and although I’m plugged in via USB, it only gives me the option to connect via network. Is this something that I should proceed with?

Those cartilages is said to mess your printer up and leak bad. They also dry up quick and will give a false reading, hiw do you stop that from happening? Do you still have to buy a chip or just the chipless firmware?
I just converted a wf 2630 without ciss. Instead I did chipless tanks with chipless firmware. Can I convert the xp15000 the same way without a ciss? Anyone?

The chipless Firmware is necessary for printing with 3rd party ink and cartridges as this printer does not have refillable cartridges with chips that auto reset. That is a one time charge for the activation key. If you don't run a lot of head cleanings then you should be good as far as the maintenance tank goes. External maintenance tanks are usually a must when this printer does a lot of head cleanings. People who convert these to DTF printers run way more maintenance than those who use it for sublimation printing.

I don't know much about printers, but I'll tell you from a photo editing perspective. If your colors are way off, you probably need to adjust sliders in the preset, the same way you would use Color Mix in Lightroom to adjust colors. Hope that helps.
Is it possible to use magenta and light magenta ink instead of red and magenta as is the default in Epson? Will it harm the printer or will it give a similar effect?

I have installed everything, no issues except when I go to print. The error says that "invalid printer has been selected". ( I also have an Epson ET-2803), Then I get the following message. "the problem may occur when several printer drivers are installed. It is recommended you uninstall unnecessary printer drivers." Now how do I know which ones are unnecessary?

Probably not. If the printer already has refill cartridges, and it starts up without any cartridge errors, then you are good. Just make sure you NEVER update the firmware.

Try using another usb cable or another laptop to install the chipless. You can also go into your ports and delete all instances of printers and ports that are there.

Firstly, this video has been amazing so far. Do you know what would cause the firmware not to recognize the USB connection? I have tried it in different USB ports and 3 cords. It shows up in my settings as being in a USB port, but the firmware is not giving me the USB option, only the network option.

All you have to do is install chipless Firmware and put in empty cartridges. If you are looking for a simpler route, then maybe an ecotank printer is more your speed. There are no (new) printers with ARC support like the old 7710 and 7720 (US models).

Great video. I've had nothing but trouble with my new printer from the start. When the ink got low on mine I ordered some ink and they didn't send the red or gray. I'm on an Imac. It is 20240304. Two years after you made this. I envy your skills. My prints com out faded wet with runny ink. I've run through cleaning and aligning the heads. it's brand new though so mine is junk from the start. No. You NEVER want to to leave the vent plugs in after inserting them into the printer. This will create a vacuum and the ink won't be able to flow out. Keeping them in while putting them into the printer will keep the ink from spilling out the bottom. But we soon as you get them into the carrier remove the vent plugs. Great question.

I have been getting this question lately. "USB isn't showing up. Only network, what do I do?" I haven't been able to recreate this issue, but after researching this question in the forum, the admin states to disable the wifi before the chipless install. To disable WiFi. Go to the home screen on the printer. Select the wifi icon. Select "wifi (recommended)" Arrow down and select "change settings". Arrow down to "others" Select "disable wi-fi" On the "disable WiFi?" Question hit "start setup" It will think for a min and then disable the wifi. Then try the install again. If I can re create this issue I'll make another video.
In desperate need of help I bought a Epson xp15000 converted it to dtf. Installed chipless ink tanks and software. Then installed cat link for rip software. The printer now will not print anything not a drop of ink. Any ideas I did run a nozzle, check nozzle cleaning still nothing tried running a purge print. Still nothing….
Very helpful video. One question that needs clarification. If I purchased this printer new, do I have to do the installation with the ink that came with the printer before I execute the firmware or can I just fill the cartridges and install the sublimation inks then execute the firmware. I'm thinking I'm going to have to open and put in the ink that came with the printer because it has the chips to finish the initialization process before I can download the firmware - but I hate to be wasteful so I thought it would be best to see if I could avoid opening the ink and possibly having it dry up since I want to use this for sublimation. Feedback please.
Sorry for the late reply, but this is a GREAT question. Yes if you purchased it new, It'll be looking for the initialization cartridges that came with the printer during its first initial setup. So the way I'm showing here is the easiest way to get to get to the firmware setup if the printer is new. The next easiest way would be to swap the chips from the initialization cartridges that come shipped with the printer on to the refill cartridges. Fill the refill cartridges (and remove the vent plugs!!!), and then insert them during the initialization. This is actually my preferred method, but I rarely teach it because If done wrong, you'll never get out of the setup loop...so if you go this route be careful and make sure the chips are lined up and pressed down firmly. You may also be able to write the chipless firmware in update mode if you enter it by keypress on the new printer. I've never tried it this way, but it should work. You'd have to get to epsons firmware update mode by keypress, Connect the printer to a windows pc via usb cable. transfer the firmware All before you ever setup the printer. Again, I'm not sure what the boot behaviour would be upon first startup with a different firmware, but it may possibly work.
Hello. Used the print cartridges that came with printer (set up printer using all set up strps). Now trying to convert to sublimation. After placing clipless cartridges, printer says there is an issue with them. What steps can we take to convert successfully? Also, how do you swap the chips onto the chipless cartridges? Thank you.
How do I stop the ink from bleeding on what I print. I have random patches of yellow on my first 2 prints on sublimation paper. It didn't happen when I printed on regular computer paper when I first set up the printer with your instructions.
I did this yesterday. Firmware is good. Put ink in cartridges. Yesterday ink showed up in calibration. Today it’s like the cartridges are empty. I checked a few of them and they are all moist on bottom pad and appear full. But no ink is coming out. I tried cleaning printer head etc. Any thoughts ?

I followed all steps and when printing all I get is blank sheets. I did system printhead cleaning many times and let sit. I also removed printhead and cleaned surface physically. Maybe I missed something in firmware download? Any ideas on what might be the cause of this?

I would try another cable or port . I'd that doesn't work. Hit up inkchip.net support email and they can help you.

I would try uninstalling all of your printers from the devices menu in windows. Then reinstall them using the driver from the epson website.

You have to download the driver from Epson. Search your model on their website and go to the support link.

@@aprilbrown6124 It is the plug that covers the hole where you refill the cartridge. On my cartridges it is a small plug that is the same color as ink

If you are using cartridges, make sure that the vent hole is unplugged.

Very helpful video. One question that needs clarification. If I purchased this printer new, do I have to do the installation with the ink that came with the printer before I execute the firmware or can I just fill the cartridges and install the sublimation inks then execute the firmware.
I'm thinking I'm going to have to open and put in the ink that came with the printer because it has the chips to finish the initialization process before I can download the firmware - but I hate to be wasteful so I thought it would be best to see if I could avoid opening the ink and possibly having it dry up since I want to use this for sublimation.

Sorry for the late reply, but this is a GREAT question.
Yes if you purchased it new, It'll be looking for the initialization cartridges that came with the printer during its first initial setup. So the way I'm showing here is the easiest way to get to get to the firmware setup if the printer is new.
The next easiest way would be to swap the chips from the initialization cartridges that come shipped with the printer on to the refill cartridges. Fill the refill cartridges (and remove the vent plugs!!!), and then insert them during the initialization. This is actually my preferred method, but I rarely teach it because If done wrong, you'll never get out of the setup loop...so if you go this route be careful and make sure the chips are lined up and pressed down firmly.
You may also be able to write the chipless firmware in update mode if you enter it by keypress on the new printer. I've never tried it this way, but it should work. You'd have to get to epsons firmware update mode by keypress, Connect the printer to a windows pc via usb cable. transfer the firmware All before you ever setup the printer. Again, I'm not sure what the boot behaviour would be upon first startup with a different firmware, but it may possibly work.
Hello. Used the print cartridges that came with printer (set up printer using all set up strps). Now trying to convert to sublimation. After placing clipless cartridges, printer says there is an issue with them. What steps can we take to convert successfully? Also, how do you swap the chips onto the chipless cartridges? Thank you.
How do I stop the ink from bleeding on what I print. I have random patches of yellow on my first 2 prints on sublimation paper. It didn't happen when I printed on regular computer paper when I first set up the printer with your instructions.
I just set mine up I keep on getting paper jam and error code 000021. It’s brand new, Do you have any advice on what to do?
I did this yesterday. Firmware is good. Put ink in cartridges. Yesterday ink showed up in calibration. Today it’s like the cartridges are empty. I checked a few of them and they are all moist on bottom pad and appear full. But no ink is coming out. I tried cleaning printer head etc. Any thoughts ?
Did you remove the vent plugs? Keeping the clear vent plugs in will create a vacuum and the ink won't come out.

once the printer is converted, would i still be able to use it to print clear trasnperency films for screen printing? Black ink on clear film? Or will I only be able to use this printer for Sublimation? Thanks
I use hiipoo ink and don't have red...can I just use magenta for both?
Why have not you refill original cartridges instead changing it?
I followed all steps and when printing all I get is blank sheets. I did system printhead cleaning many times and let sit. I also removed printhead and cleaned surface physically. Maybe I missed something in firmware download? Any ideas on what might be the cause of this?
