    Can someone confirm I understand everything correctly? Just want to make sure i'm getting it all... lol
    1. Don't let your carts become empty
    2. Remove cart from printer, replace with other filled carts so the printer doesn't dry.
    3. Refill the removed carts until you see the thing on the top get wet (about 27 grams). Use precision color inks.
    4. Download the firmware to make the carts render as "chipless" so you can reuse the carts that were filled (use the promo code to continue supporting this super awesome guy).
    5. When cart becomes empty, repeat step 1, skip step 4.
    Thanks for anyone that can verify I have the steps right! Just want to make sure I have everything correct before purchasing this printer.
    Best!

    Thanks for the video. I have a couple refills completed. I let the gray get a little low on the factory ink. I wanted to see how many prints I could get before the need to refill. I get 30 8x10 conservatively and am sure I could get more. I can only refill to 24g my others go above 27g. Any chance the vacuum reset video?

    Thank you very much José Rodrigues for the video. I accept that the new Firmware is a solution, but I don't like it! I have an Epson Stylus Photo and use "Auto-Reset Chips". It Works very well! So I prefer this system for my next purchase - Epson XP-15000. But my problem is to choose an ink identical to "Claria Photo HD Ink", somewhere in Europe. I've been buying InkOwl (Canada), but now I don't know! Which one do you advise? "Precisioncolors" (not in Europa)? "InkTek"? "OCP" (Germany-Poland) ?. Thank you.

      I would go for original Epson ecotank inks in bottle, especially the 114 series (which is stated as Claria Photographic ink, so same fade resistance), but the 106 series has the same fade resistance as proven on printerknowledge. Other older ecotank inks DO NOT: be careful, these inks fade as quickly as aftermarket inks. So go for 106/114 inks. The 114 has CMYK and grey inks, but no red. Red can either be mixed by 8 parts of M and 2 parts of Y or if you want an dedicated red choose Canon GI53 Red ink in bottles (fade resistance of Chromolife 100+). I use Fujifilm Drylabs inks that has the same fade resistance as Epson Claria Photographic inks using the CMYK ink set. I dilute K (PB) with an home made clear ink base to make GY (grey) ink: 15 parts of PB + 85 parts of CIB and red is made by mixing 8 parts of M and 2 parts of Y. I also bought ecotank 106 CMYK, 114 GY and Canon GI53 red inks in bottle and will use these later on.

    Hi,
    Recently I’ve came across XP 15000 CISS on Epson Cartridges th-cam.com/video/PleFoZ4ErUs/w-d-xo.html and OEM vs Foam Carts th-cam.com/video/e2sAIKTcgP0/w-d-xo.html I’ve decided switching to OEM because OEM’s have better seal.
    The only thing keeps me from doing that is - how to drill the hole on top of the cart for ink tube to be inserted. How to do it and not destroy the bag inside the OEM cart ?
    Sincerely Jan

      You must have waited till it was close to empty. PC showed why you should always fill when the cart weighs no less than 18 grams. Something gets tripped internally which will prevent you from filling it completely to a final weight of 27 grams. I will contact him to get the procedure to unlock the ink bag.

So if I watch my ink levels and when the OEM cartridge is 3/4 empty then refill I don't need to use the Chip removal software and can refill the OEM cartridge multiple times. Am I understanding that correctly ? Thank you, Gene

    great videos Jose...have a question regarding refilling epson xp-15000. do you think the inks will clog the jets sooner than normal or do you think the chiplesssolutions inks are as clean as the epson inks? I had a R1900 that had clogging problems with aftermarked inks that were supposed to be high quality. I don't want to clog the nozzles but would like to save some $$ with the ink.

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are no chiplesssolution inks. Chipplessolutions is a firmware that renders the X-15000 and other supported EPSON printers chipless. Meaning your ink levels are constantly reported as full. It's your job to make sure you phisically do not run out of ink. I am us in precisioncolors inks for with excellent results. Refilling your original carts is a blind process so you must use a gram scale and ink bottles with needle tips to directly dribble ink into the exit ports of the carts. You MUST top them off at least every 2 weeks to make sure you catch them with plenty of ink still in them and fill to 27 grams total weight.
      Or you can use less reliable refillable carts but they do not include chips. You need chips so the printer knows which color is what. They use sponges which is a terrible approach for EPSON printers.

    can this be used for sublimation ink how can i take the regular ink out to apply this

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes but there's no easy way to drain the carts. Besides if could drain them you will trigger an internal valve that will prevent you from refilling them to full capacity. You could use refillable but they truly suck. You also need to install a Chip less firmware on it. It can be a bit difficult process.

    How do u know if you go chipless on the cartridges? They seem to have two different kinds of refilling cartridges but I don’t know if there is a huge difference of chipless?

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What do you mean??? When you go chipless all the channels will always report FULL. You use your own original cartridges not REFILLABLES. You refill them as on my demo so that they weigh 27 grams. Do not wait until it's too late and near-empty as there's no way that you are going to know when a cartridge is about to go empty so make it have it a habit to top off to 27 grams every couple of weeks topping all the cartridges.

    Hello Jose, thanks for the valuable info.
    Do you know if the XP-15000 still performs a purge cycle when a cartridge is (re)inserted when the Chip-less Firmware is installed? This seems important, because you will have to check regularly if all cartridges have sufficient ink (and you cannot see it from the outside).

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes it will. You lose about 2ml total ink each time. So you really have time your checks very carefully. I'm doing it about every month and a half or less if I am printing more than normal. I am going to be printing 20 almost 7x10 stickers for my grandson's upcoming birthday party so I will likely top off directly afterwards. But don't worry. The ink is pennies a top off and you have a user replaceable waste ink tank that only costs $10 to replace. I figure it will last one year at my rate of use. So I am not in the least worried.

      That makes the P800 perfect. Can be made chipless plus roll adapter and of course a user replaceable waste ink tank. And to top it off it can be repacked and it's chip reset. It is the sane one the 3800 and 3880 uses.

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is possible but.....be aware that unless each cart is fully empty you will always have a MIX or photo ink and sublimation ink. And the problem with that is you can't print sub unless ALL 6 carts have been allowed to reach empty and filled with sub inks. Plus you will not be able to revert back to photo inks if you change your mind later. The only printers you can realistically use for sub printing are those who allow the use of refillable carts. So you can load a full set of carts with sub ink. Remove all OEM ones and install the sub ink carts. Two cleanings and you should be on full sub inks. That's not really something you can do on a xp1500 since you do not have the option to run refillables in the USA.

    • @cheo1949

      Once you go empty the cart can no longer be filled to max capacity. If you intend to refill you first need to install chipless firmware from www.inkchip.net and then never allow them to become empty. Once you install the FW they ink levels will remain always full. SO...you need to top all 6 carts like every month. depending on how much you print. The full weight will be 26 grams. If you let them go empty you will only be able to fill them about half way. That makes no sense.

    Hi Jose, I'm curious if you are planning to continue this series about the XP 15000. Specially the chip less firmware from Inkchip. I had recent experience with this firmware ( version V2 and the 99 version) and must say it was a disaster so far. At first I had a lot of issues with registering the Inkchip firmware and afterwards occurring errors and a malfunctioning printer (error 031002, blank page printed and error 031001) I could not revert to the standard Epson firmware and had to send the printer to Epson for repair. Although the support from Inkchip was present and adequate. They had some tips an tricks but sadly they did not work out. Did not like the Inkchip menu structure at all but I could live with that if it would work flawless. I even ordered ink form Precision Colors (I know that was too premature.....) but that will be paperweight until Inkchip is presenting a flawless firmware update for the XP 15000 and then I still will be scared to flash the firmware again. Guess I stay on the original firmware and ink for now until I see and hear better things about Inkchip firmware for the XP 15000. This is not to rant on Inkchip but just my 2 cents and to let others overthink things before they flash there firmware. love to hear or even better see more vid's from you about the XP 15000. Stay safe and healthy!

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They seem to be aware of that problem with the 15000. I as well as precisioncolors had installation problems. We ended up using an alternate firmware which I found a link for in inkchip help forum. I think it's the one that chiplessolution uses. I also used their installation software. You can install it with printer on without going through the service mode process.
      But even that one is not 100% trouble free. The installation freezes at around 97% and you get a NEXT or REPEAT notice. You are supposed to ignore it and click NEXT. The rest goes through without issues. Once finished and you click activate on line and paste the activation code, you will see a Recovery Code which you copy and paste in case you accidentally update to an EPSON firmware. There is a Recovery process that will allow you to go back to chipless condition using that same original Activation Code. Then you reboot the printer and now the ink levels will be at full. That was my experience with mine own and also PC. PC has explicit instructions on his XP15000 section telling you exactly what to do and use. Mine is running and printing without a single issue. I top off all my 6 carts to a total weight of 27 grams once every 2 months or so depending on how much I use it.

      If they are like the XP1500 carts you con not fill them back to full capacity IF you empty them by any form. There is a little internal components that gets triggered if you go to like 20%. Although you will be able to fill them you will only fill them to about 75 - 80% original capacity. At least that is how the XP1500 carts behave.

    Hi Jose, thanks for all the videos, i bought an epson xp 15000 used (180 euro with almost full original cartridges, new costs about 390 euro) i want to ask why not use a chip resetter ? i found several for the XP 15.000 (it seems they works only on European Printer model, but mine is European luckily). Have you never used a chip resetter ? Do they work ? I want to use my original cartridges i have 2 set (6x2) of XL cartridges, how many grams can i fill-up them ? always 27 grams ? i will check the new ones when they will come to me, here the cartridges are numbered 378xl and 478xl. Let me know about the chip resetter. Another solution is to replace the chips with auto-resetting chips, did you tried ?

      You just dribble ink directly into the exit port the full weight is 27 grams. Watch my video. You can not allow them to reach empty as an internal valve is triggered and you will not be able to fill them to capacity. You guys are lucky. Ours can not be reset. We have to install Chipless Firmware.

      @cheo1949  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are on a 15000 right? Running cleaning cycles will not revert you back to using chips again. Reinstalling the EPSON firmware will. What carts are you using. Originals you are refilling or the refillable ones being sold. Something happened to your black cartridge. Cleaning cycle and nozzle check. Your cart should weigh 26 to 27 grams when fully refilled. Installing the chipless firmware will not cause any ink delivery problem. Only the carts will affect that.

When I installed the chipless system the only way I could get my printer to accept the firm ware was delete everything epson like the printer app. I also had to uninstall it from my iPhone to be able to print from my phone to the printer. I was so happy when I got it to work chipless my. Took me 2 to 3 weeks but I finally got it. Printed fine until the black ran out now that I have installed the cis I was afraid if I install the epson program to run the cleaning cycle it would change the firm ware back. How can I install with out changing the firmware back? I am not a computer genius.

Since I had to totally uninstall everything epson for it to work just not dure on how the run cleaning cycle to clear out the clogged print head. Hi Jose, Just refilled my cartridges with PC inks for the 3rd time and the prints are still great. They haven't been "full" refills as I'm still extending the number of prints to come up with a safe number so that none of the cartridges go empty; last time was 50 8x10s and a handful of 13x19s. I figure with one, or at most two more refills, when compared to OEM prices I will have saved more than the cost of the printer, the firmware and the PC ink combined. Thanks again for all the great information you share.
