Thanks for the tip. Holy geez, makes removing and installing the intercooler so easy. It should have been like this from the factory. So far I have followed your videos to install the solenoid, replace the alternator, and the starter to keep the old N63 moving.
Great information Francisco! This was the very BEST instruction video on this vanos solenoid I found anywhere. I do wish there was detailed instruction of the removal of the intercooler, since this was VERY challenging!
Great tip on trimming the intercooler bracket. You can tell that is the voice of experience talking. I can't believe the customer wouldn't replace both solenoids....that is a bad move imho. Great vid!
If you take out the ventilator . You have to take of the upperfront aluminium part just 5 or so bolts. You have more room it only takes a few minutes and take of also the other turbo hose. So then you losen the coolers with much room. Make also loose the hose on the throttleheads .So then you take the to plastic bolts with the round heads in the middel at the cooling reservoir. And loose them. So now you can turn the coolers away from the(use a tiewrap to hold the coolers) vanos without make loose the hoses on the coolers and losing the cooling water also and so you have al the room (dont forget to take of the vacuumpart on the right cooler and to click of the wire so you have more room to turn away the coolers)To change the vanos solenoids. Thank you bro.
I Just Removed the sensors but my Exhaust and intake are not dirty like to cause that code! exhaust did have a couple of holes from that screen clogged but im not sure if thats enough to make it fail!! so i swapped it to see if the code goes to intake after cleaning them if no code then the cleaning did the trick! you also mentioned to remove the Exhaust sensor just push that bracket blocking the 10mm screw 😂 is not that easy! bracket is bolted (3 bolts) not easy 😂 but i bended it!! also the bottom screw for the intercooler is not hard to remove it but its hard to See it making it hard to get the socket in there! but its doable i was able to see it from the top it was dirty so blends in and cant see it! but using a flashlight and following the bracket you can see it even if its 11:26 dirty i was able to get the ratchet in there while looking at the bolt from the Top! not sure if i'll be cutting the bracket to install it back or ill give it a try first now that the bolt is clean and painted white to see it!!
Thank you for all of your videos. My BMW code reader gave the error code that you have listed in this video but it does not say if it is bank one or bank two. How can I tell which bank has the bad vanos?
I changed all my vanos solenoids on both banks on my 550i n63 engine it has a knock when u turn it on the drive train malfunction pops up any idea what it can be? These videos are always helpful thanks for sharing 👍
I was about to take out all four solenoids to clean them and reinstall just for maintenance, but I figure engine flushing and oil change would do the same thing. Do you agree?
@@shadows7077 this means your engine was extremely dirty and the solenoids trapped the contamination and went bad. You need to change replace them with oem solenoids now and you should be good for years if you continue to change oil at 4k intervals. I replaced mine already and runs silky smooth. I also flush each oil change to keep the turbo oil lines clear of clogs.
i need this video like 3 month ago :( but really thank you for the advice , because now i need to change the other one , can you make a video for oxygen sensor line disconnect
Hi Francisco. My 2012 BMW 750 Li x drive does not crank, the ex owner said he changed the starter and it started one or two times and got stock again. I had a mecanic with a diagnostic computer checking the car and it had a lot of failures but he erased them. Electronically the car seams good but he tried to turn the motor with a ratchet underneath the car and he said the motor does not turn or move. Can that be the wrong starter which does not let the flaying Weel or what do you think it is. The car has 107k mileage and looks outside and inside super mint.
Hola hermano me gustan tus videos... Tengo una pregunta k me trae loko... Porke el gear selector o shifter... Esta siempre en neutral y no kiere cambiar a park... K sera.. El shifter esta mal o es algo mas... Muchas gracias hermano.
Do you know the part number or size of the bolts that mount both intercoolers? I know you need a 10mm to remove it but i need to order a replacement. thanks
excuse me, good afternoon, I have a 2006 bmw 750li, it has 4 bathrooms, what do I have to do to remove them, do I have to put it on time or something like that, or do I just remove them, thanks
Please help, took car to shop and got a bunch of codes. Car was running fine and all of sudden bunch of codes. 2011 bmw 750i 130108 130308 130508 130708 130C01 130D01 131101 131508 131609
I'm trying to get access to the driver side ping/knock sensor does anyone know how to get to it without removing the intake manifold that bolts to the engine. Of not what's the easiest way to get access to the manifold bolts on the driver side
I'm chasing vanos codes. Ran ISTA tests: Timing chain stretch test passed with no issues. Camshafts in time. But vanos test failed on all 4. I don't believe that all 4 vanos gears would fail at the same time. Oil pressure issue?

I dig his style, he's a good mechanic. Mine is starting to give me issues....they be creepin up

Is there any programming required after the installation is completed?

he said that if it doesn't fix your issue, you'll have to open up the engine and replace the vanos itself.
Mine has the knock and it sounds so scary. Still hesitating to check my oil… hoping not to see any sparkling
Thanks bro. Nice video.
Would it be the same for bank 2 as well ?
Thank you!!

I didn't have any problems with mine until I did an engine flush.

Still wondering the same thing

I'm trying to get access to the driver side ping/knock sensor does anyone know how to get to it without removing the intake manifold that bolts to the engine. Of not what's the easiest way to get access to the manifold bolts on the driver side
Can this cause knocking?
Can code be p054D
First thing I do when I see any vanos related faults on this POS engine, remove oil filter and inspect for bearing material!!!
What is the reason you do that?
a) bearing fragments clogging up the solenoids
or
b)oil pressure drop due worn bearings
I'm chasing vanos codes.
Ran ISTA tests:
Timing chain stretch test passed with no issues.
Camshafts in time.
But vanos test failed on all 4.

Oil pressure issue?

I just paid 1500 for this I should have done it myself
too much talk without any practical issue
