- Since many requested that I test Genshin Impact, this will be one of the first side by side comparisons between the S24 Ultra and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. btw - art of rally is really demanding and on high (funny enough it's the default setting as well) can't touch 60fps on 15PM. It's on pre-register for android, but maybe good game to compare phones with after it's release as it's really demanding.
Please test Nikke at max graphics for both phones. Nikke is the best third person shooter game on the market.
Still, seeing that Samsung Galaxy has improved its performance this much makes me look forward to the future. Despite Android optimization issues, maintaining that level of frame rate is amazing.

It is amazing to see that the phone that now supports the call recording function and is now releasing a calculator is an innovation. The graphics and colors difference is mainly due to software optimization. Genshin Impact is still much more optimized on iOS than Android
The developers mainly optimize to Snapdragon on Android side, since this has a SD chip, they can't really do a lot more. Developers are not magicians, and even if you tricked with benhmark numbers, that is only work on the same environment, like zero CPU usage and 100% GPU, but in real life task only benchmarks can do that, with crap CPU performance everything is ruined and steal tons of usable performance from the GPU side, and you can see the result.

While no such thing has been adapted for Android, Snapdragon also has an upscaling feature built right into the Qualcomm driver toolkit, however it is not implemented here
Not to mention Snapdragon being more optimised is an old Myth from 2019

Heck Most optimization for Genshin on android is from the Phone manufacturer side

And I thought I was crazy seeing the difference. The same situation occurs on my nubia redmagic. It looks just like on Samsung. Textures for iOS are better in higher resolution.

The difference is mostly due to Android and IOS versions of genshin. On Android, there's less draw distance resulting blurry mountains. On IOS, its more like PC version with clear background details, Also there's 120fps option on iphone, not available even on PC, which is a sign of devs favoring iphone more..

The android graphics are nerfed because they have to optimise the game for the midrange devices too, androids have varieties of devices, low end to high end, but on ios, all models are capable, S24 is equally capable to handle this game with max settings, may be with the future updates they'll improve the graphics for s24 ultra

How are you controlling the s24 ? Is there a controller available that works with genshin? I only saw the touchscreen option. Your team set ups are actually pretty good here. Lots of people test with this game and have a pretty basic starter team.

Man the 15 Pro Max is a BEAST!! Nice to see that the benchmarks like Antutu etc don't tell the whole story.
My question on max settings is: Does the s24 ultra run at a higher resolution than the iPhone? Doesn't the s24 ultra have a 1440p screen? I wonder if that could make a difference in performance, and tbh I have no idea what resolution the iPhone runs at. But I watched videos on the oneplus 12 being able to hold 60fps constantly, but that phone doesn't have a 1440p screen. So running at 1080p might give a more constant 60 fps?
Devs has locked game to have a set resolution no matter the display res. The in-game res is normally 720p for android and 740p for iPhones. There are some phones with an exception as they have partnered with Hoyoverse and have a special higher resolution - i.e. Xiaomi 14 Pro. However, the real difference Noone is talking about is that android does have lower graphic textures vs iOS. Xiaomi again is the only device that comes close to iOS graphic textures due to their partnership with devs. Apple also has a partnership with Hoyoverse. This is why Apple gets special optimization privileges and unique feats. Like native controller support and 120 fps.

I love how iphone 15 pro max and 14 pro max is so stable on genshin,codm and other demanding games, but struggles to have stable 120 fps on wild rift, but still smooth tho my ocd just keeps on kicking.

The reason is because the S24 ultra runs at a higher resolution. iPhone runs at 740p but the new S24 ultra runs at 864p. That means the S24 ultra is running at 40% increased performance by pixel count. Shall we try turning on the MetalFX on iPhone to counteract this?
The Samsung display reader is wrong, s24u is running at 720p. Just like the iPhones display reader is wrong and it is running at 740p. We have to wait for February firmware update from Samsung to see if they fix performance

90% gpu usage on s24 does NOT mean bad optimization. Do this test in any PC game where this result is met and you will see after FULL patches, only like 5-10% fps improvement with 95-99% gpu usage. Iphone still 60 fps with higher res and barely 60% gpu usage. Just admit it, Samsung is making just another L phone that is very very weak 😂 jeez bruh, The s8 WAS good against the iph 7 and 8, I bought that one, fact that isn't also met here, Iphone is just better now, stop coping guys, we know u barely afford these phones and ure mad, but dont let your paycheck get in front of your reality. dayum
I really like my S23 Ultra. But at the time I also had an iPhone and I remember playing Fortnite. It worked incredible on the iPhone, it didn't even work like that on my PS4. until appel removed it from the Store. In general, all games are better optimized for the iPhone. It's a shame but I also think it's Google's fault. for not providing developers with better tools.
The one who's on copium is you. If the game developer doesn't optimize their game for other platforms, can anyone do anything about it? For your information, I will give you an example: my RTX 4080, on COD Warzone, gets fewer FPS than the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX, both at 4k and the highest graphical settings, WITH 100% GPU utilization, and what are the results? The 7900 XTX absolutely dominates my 4080, and why is that? Because Activision optimized this game for AMD. Likewise, when a game developer optimizes their game for Nvidia, the same thing would happen, but now for Nvidia. So seriously, do your homework before spouting such ignorant nonsense.

That what I want to see.Literally everyone enables this settings or turns of GOS(samsung optimizing service for games).I just want to see what is the default performance(just doing the setup of the phone when you bought it and starting playing games).the majority of the people will not enter the settings to enable or disable any gaming service from samsung.

Hey, I also have the S24 Ultra. A few days ago, I noticed that after 10 minutes of playing, the frame rate dropped from 60 fps to 50-40 fps. But things are better now. I played Genshin Impact for 2 hours and 7 minutes today with the fps display on, and I mostly had 60 fps, except for a few instances where it dropped to 55 fps in Fontaine. I had the labs feature turned on. I think the phone need a software update to improve the gpu
I had labs enabled on mines as well. I will retest to see if things possibly changed

Yeah it is better by a bit but you need to remember apple is not a full gaming phone like redmagic with full fans and gaming modes etc.
It's an all rounder phone with great cameras and software support for a long time.If Apple was a gaming company I would think they will the best in the market.
Unfortunately, updating won't help. You need to buy a cooler with a Peltir cell :) nubia of course cannot be compared. If we want a real flagship with a good camera, battery and great user satisfaction... we have to compromise!

With this S24 Ultra high level gaming should be very good possible. I am playing in Top 0.1 % of the World Rankings in Call of Duty Mobile on a S23 Ultra. I can say it does an excellent job. Gameplay at 120 Hz is perfectly smooth. So S24 Ultra should do even better.
Room for improvement has the Samsung Gamebooster App. For high level gaming it should be possible to switch off the top down and side swipe menu to not interfere with 4 finger play. Also additional features like on phone crosshairs could be provided. Samsung has sponsored this year's CODM World Championships. So it should be expected that Samsung is adding this features soon.
I think maybe the s23 is just better the s24 isn’t looking as smooth as it. Maybe it needs updates we’ll see.

The iPhone version of Genshin does have better assets, but it mainly looks like a color difference here.

Yeah, I had a HUNCH that this was gonna be the result. iPhone’s GPU performance in benchmarks is hampered by lack of cooling, so 3D Mark tests show it gets 25 fps average compared to 28 average on Samsung, and a lot of YTers thinks that’s conclusive. But, try this: put both in the fridge, and they both get 29-30 fps!
Apple DESPERATELY needs to put vapor chamber or graphene pad in the iPhone!

Main problem with the Vapor Chamber, it's only can lead the heat to the battery area, and he 45-50°C batery is way worst like thr throttling phone (on long term, but most of the users want ton use the phone longer just like one year)

Apparently, there's a noticeable Performance difference between Genshin Impact downloaded from the Google Play Store vs the Samsung Galaxy Store.
I've seen MANY users say that the Samsung Galaxy Store's Version seems to have been optimized for Samsung Devices and thus performs better.
However, since I am holding on to my S21 Ultra for a little while longer, until I get better offers from my Mobile Service Provider, AND that I haven't Uninstalled my current Play Store GI Version to try the Galaxy Store's, AND that there might not be (as) much noticeable differences/improvements on the S21U's Older, less Capable Hardware, I cannot provide my personal, Objective take on this.

My RTX 4080, at 4K in Genshin, gets locked at 60 FPS. Seriously, it feels sluggish. The input lag is unbearable. I never played Genshin on my S24U, but I played it on my S20U, and it went as well as you could imagine. It was good, but of course, my phone heats up a lot.

I personally play on a tablet and had no issues in any game but do agree the m2 is a very powerful chip for a tablet. Saying this because I don't play on my phone lol

Labs is enabled and you can see in beginning of video. I can't use Perfdog with ios since Perfdog doesn't work wirelessly with ios. Hence I can only use MacOS instruments to measure iPhone fps. Last, I installed pluggins on my second retest and got 48 fps average.

No it is not. Someone already pointed out that rhe developers of this game were favoring the iphone. And putting options for it that isn't even available on android. This can be changed with an update but it is the developers doing, not the phone.

very strange performance on the s24 ultra.. the s23 already ran a stable 60fps, in theory the 8 gen 3 of the s24 ultra should handle it even better... What can be seen is that the game has not yet been optimized for the processor, as it is very recent.. it would be interesting to do the same comparison in a few months
Yes I plan to retest next month and then in a few months. Samsung will release a new firmware update in a few days for the month of Feb so I'll have to retest.
I doubt it's to do with optimisation, it just looks like the Snapdragon 8 gen 3 is a bit of a letdown compared to the gen 2.
