Omg... thanks to this video, I was able to assemble my giant 120 cm Octa without any help... I was getting so discouraged that I will not be able to out it together,, Ever!!!!!

I was happy to see it can be folded away in-tact. The assembly process was rather fiddly. If its only a one-off though, its fine. Great pics.

I love the light this softbox gives and it’s quickly become one of my favourite softboxes to use and I frequent choose it over my 150cm. I tend to use it with monos over speedlights but the spread of light is equally good. Great images, and the little girl certainly made me smile. I don’t know if you have come across the design flaw where the washer in the tightening nut for the speedring is the wrong size and you can’t tighten the speedring. If you have all you need is a pen or something (I take a paper clip with me) to push the washer over the speedring. It’s annoying until you know what’s wrong and how to fix it and then it’s literally a 2 second fix.

Thanks for this. One problem I see with Godox's marketing is that a lot of products are not even on their site, for eg this one. It gets difficult to search all their products at one place.
godox marketing sucks , otherwise they have good products with good price /quality
Got this delivered today and god was the setup infuriating. But once done I had a quick portrait session and am pleased with it. How much of a difference is it from an equivalent 36 in octa?
the difference is minimal i can say . i can do my main work with both softboxes.

i use both for the type of photography that i do , but a lot more the 95cm :) (headshot and portrait )
the 95cm rimelite speedbox it's lighter and you can set it up even faster than these godox , but also more expensive , still for the price/features godox 80cm is unbeatable

Doesn't the central pin of the umbrella skeleton take away light from the flash? It's just in front of the flash, is it indifferent?

i am trying to find a video review of using deep octabox with only a speed light and its so hard to find it, and now i got it! Im afraid that it wouldn't have enough power to the octabox, and by that means; i need to buy a ad600 maybe to fill in the octabox and i dont think im in that budget.
Anyway what do you think about; 120cm with godox TT600 (60GN power speedlite) do you think its enough power to fill in the octabox?

i use different flashes , i use them mostly on manual .and as for camera settings , i shoot with a 70-200 most of my shoots

Good Video!! Are you quite satisfied with this softbox? I assume, it will take a bit time, if you use the softbox for the first time, but once this is done, is it quick installed on Location for further Shootings?
yes , once it is mounted is very easy to use
Looks like a nice deep octabox. How much did it cost you? have you tried comparing this with Elinchrom Rotalux Deep Octa (either 100cm or 70cms)?
it costs arround 55$ , only compared with smdv 70cm and 90cm , and are pretty the same in terms of depth .
worth trying it out !

I want to buy this but I have read some negative reviews. Any thoughts on how you like it so far?
Some reviews claim it's poorly constructed (Amazon review): " i gave this product 4 stars its because the center rod was unsteady/wobbly, i tightened the nut in one end of the rod but after one opening/closing of the umbrella it went shaky again, the nut wasn't tight, i had to fix it using a rubber washer for the nut and problem solved, and same thing for thumb screw that tighten/loosen the spinning of the umbrella from the Bowens mount, using another rubber washer fixed that too."

my unit was really sturdy , nothing got loosen or something , i really liked it especially for the price .

hey man. i have problem with this umbrella. When I fold it, the center rod becomes lose from the center of the hole. But yours seems to be locked in. Do you experience the same thing? Does yours have some type of a stopper at the end of the rod? Thank you.
mine has a stopper at the end of the rod , it secures very well

Nice video, I was going to get one of the cheaper ones, the ones without the bowens mount with the stand pole going through the umbrella, but I saw a video of someone testing the light, and since the flash cant be mounted on axis I don't think it will work so well. This one looks much better at diffussing the light uniformly.
it gives a really soft light , keep in mind that is deeper than normal softboxes :D and the price is good also.

is your bracket connection to the umbrella bowens mount loose? Mine doesn't fit perfectly, it doesn't come off, but it sure feels loose.
mine fits perfectly and is sturdy enough . that's the problem with this kind of products , quality controll sucks
Is this setup( one speedlight and an 80cm softbox) good enough for a sunny day at the beach?
i'm afraid it is not enough . for evenings on the beach will work well but for sunny days you will need at least godox ad360 or even better godox ad600

Canon 6D - 70-200mm f2.8 VC from tamron . settings i don't remmeber . i almost always shoot f3.2 and 170mm/200mm and HSS activated

joe nick kind of , you need to unzip at least a side of the diffusers in order to fold it , it's like an umbrella.

it loved it , the smdv it is just a bit lighter and faster to mount , that's the reason i switch , but for the price is one of the best you can get with this quality of light

i use a generic(no branded) 220cm lightstand . i recommend the walimex 256cm , they are a bit more solid .
Isn't umbrella holder before bowens (pole with three legs ) causing/changing pattern in light? Thanks you
there is no problem at all .with both diffusers there is no light pattern change

Very nice job from start to finish. I have a Selens 36 inch 16 Rods Octagon Parabolic Softbox which is a lot harder to set up and when you finish it has to be totally disassembled . I am looking for details on the adjustable connection that you made to the reflector holder bar to the light stand in your video at 7:59. I have been looking for a solution to this connection for a long time. Can you reply with a part number and brand for what you used? I live in Costa Rica and there are very few places that have any photo equipment so your help on where I can get it on the Internet would be great. Many thanks and, again, you did a very nice job and especially the photo shoot. Your little female model was terrific as were all of the photos.

i use the Proxistar reflector holder , i live in germany , i do not recomment some cheap chinese reflector holder , another good one is the impact reflector holder , you can look also for walimex holder. hope that helps

you can use it with strobe that uses Bowens S mount , and i think you can use 2xAD200 godox speedlights
Tihi Andrew For more than one speedlight you’re better off with the speedlight specific octaboxes, I have both this softbox for single speedlight or mono and a Graphy for multiple speedlights. You can get a multiple speedlight holder that goes into the Godox Bowen S adapter but that means you are left with a hole at the back of your softbox which impacts on your ambient light.
