“That’s good, I now have a deburring tool that leaves a burr! 😮”
Your ‘scratch built’ arbor press using parts from your former barge is a lovely way to remember happy days working on it. Well done 👏👏👍😀

Hi Michel another great video, l think it is great to see that you are recycling metal that has an emotional history and connection to your working life, the arbor press will be a great addition to your workshop and hopefully bring back fond memories each time you use it. I think you are right about the cost of the steel, if you have to go out and purchase it the cost would be prohibited and you may think twice about its construction. You have now produced a historical bond with a tool that will hopefully last you a lifetime. Keep up the good work. Regards Gary UK

Hi Michel ☺ glad you were able to use steel from your barge, and it is sad to see an old friend like a vessel beached and cut up, but life is forever changing and the new ship will become more personal in time, and who knows you might like it more eventually. At least the old one will live on when made into something else, just as you have done whith the steel . Thanks for the video mate, stay safe, best wishe's to you and your's, Stuart UK.

    • @Rustinox

Another successful project Michel. First you "Go For It" then "It Works"... I was in the Canadian Navy years ago and understand that a ship has a personality, quirks etc and we get used to the way they behave and sound. We get attached to them because we go through a lot on them. It's sad to see them go, especially to the scrapyard. Here's hoping your next vessel gives you as many good memories as the old one did. I really enjoyed your arbour press build, and I particularly enjoyed you describing the origin of the steel. I don’t think it is silly to become attached to a barge in which you have invested love and effort over years. Indeed, I wonder if you could paint your press with the colour of the barge and keep it as a memento of the vessel. I look forward to your future videos!

As always it's a thrilling moment to start Your video. Well done. I wouldn't put my thumb in that press!
Time 04:40. Milling a 40 mm slot? Not using the shaper? Joking!
The cutter shaft is carved out..... If the carbide tip had wad vertical edge on the periferi this would not happen. Anyway, a good tool. The face milling tool I use has a vertical edge on the inserts...
Deburring.... My old file bought by my father some 70 years ago still does the job..... Joking.
    Cheers.

I doubt I could wail away from the local metal mart with that assortment for under $200CD and I could buy a cast iron one for $100. The press came out great, Rusti. It will be really useful to have in the shop, and in a small way the bond with the old barge can live on. Would you consider cutting a piece away under the ram to allow shafts to pass through? I know some are like that, and have a platten that can revolve with different size slots in it. I enjoyed this series and the story behind the origin of the steel. All the best, Mart.
