I can‘t thank you enough for this tutorial. I never worked with any tech like this and was pretty intimidated to do so, but my PS4 sounded like an airplane taking of, it was so loud I started avoiding using it. So seeing this super easy to follow tutorial helped ease my fear of cleaning it myself. And man am I glad I did, it‘s so quiet now!!! I can finally enjoy playing games on it again.
I'm proud of you man, I really am. I also found it quite intimidating at first. I'm glad I was able to help you do it yourself. Enjoy the silence 💪
the best, doesnt come close to the other "cleaning" videos on TH-cam, this is true cleaning ❤️
thank you! I appreciate your comment.
What are you talking about
Absolutely agree!!
Definitely agree!! Best video on here for this need
😊😊😊😊😊
This video has been an absolute diamond could not for the life of me find a video for my ps4 and I was fully going in blind until your video my ps4 is not scarily quite I bought it second hand and its been sounding like a fighter jet for the past year Thank you so so so much for this!!!
Thank you Tianna, you're welcome.
I rarely leave comments under videos but you really deserve it man!
The tutorial was really easy to follow even for someone like me and I was able to tear apart my ps4 top to bottom.
It kept overheating because of thick layer of dust but now it’s like new!
I can’t even hear the thing when it’s on.
Once again, thank you very much for the tutorial. You deserve more recognition.
Cheers :)
Thanks for taking the trouble to leave a comment. It helps for the findability of the video.
Nice to read that it makes such a difference. 👍
It's rare you find a PERFECT video like this
I came looking for a different tutorial after finding ifixit's instructions to "just pull real hard bro" on removing the bottom shell. This is a very nicely done and easily answered the couple of disassembly questions I had. Watching it during re-assembly to remember where some of the screws went, very nice job with the sped up footage while still showing every screw. This is pro.
Thank you, I appreciate your comment. Nice to read that you find it a good tutorial.
absolutely amazing walkthrough on how to clean that specific old ps4. i’m only halfway through but this has been the easiest tutorial to follow. thank you so much!!!🙌🙌🙌
I Luv You. Had my ps4 for 10 years finally cleaned it and it sounds extremely quiet.
Thanks for leaving a comment, nice to hear your ps4 is quiet again. On to the next 10 years. 💪
You tutorial are the best, i followed all the steps and now my PS4 runs silent, your tips to open the backplate saved me too much, thank you ❤❤
The best PS4 FAT cleaning process video on TH-cam! Coincidentally, my PS4 series type is exactly the same as the one in the video. For now I still don't need to disassemble my PS4, because 6 months ago I took it to a service place to clean and add thermal paste, in the future I will try to disassemble it myself with the help of your video, thank you!
How much did it cost you? I want to do the same with my original ps4 from 2013. Never open to do anything for 10 years but still working. For sure got a lot of dust in it because it’s loud. Cleaning with new thermal paste should help
Thank you so much for this! I have never worked on any electronics and when my ps4 was starting to act up and overheat, I figured I'd give it a chance before selling it for parts or getting it fixed. Luckily, I found this video, ordered the stuff I needed and now my PS4 is as good as new! Thank you!
Well done!
I find it very satisfying if I fixed something myself.
with a little help from TH-cam and some patience. you can fix a lot yourself.
Awesome job and thank you! My many, many year old PS4 with 100s of hours of play is quiet, clean and happy - great job. Cheers!
Perfect video. Detailed and step-by-step from start to finish back to start again! 👍
Thank you.
Excellent video for what can be a very intimidating process. No narration & verbal mash mash introduction, clarity. Excellent camera work, it felt like I was standing beside you learning in person. Thank you for your detail & clarity. You just got my mental Academy Award for tutorials!! I'm wondering if you'd ever publish one on the controller and troubleshooting, stick drift, button springs....as the price of an authentic PS4 controller goes higher. Think about it?
Thanks for the award. Haha. I've been working on controllers. Only I often break parts when I take the controller apart. I don't have enough experience myself yet to teach other people.
Brilliant, thank you!
I was going nuts because I couldn't open mine as it was different to other models shown on youtube.
Found your video which is my model (didn't know there were different models) and now it's clean, quiet and cooler.
Thank you very much for teaching me.
You're welcome. Thanks for leaving a comment.
@@SpareTimeWorkshop You're welcome, but youtube isn't doing you any favours imho. Your video didn't show up until I ran several different searches, all the videos were for the other models in slim, pro and 5. They're selling you short.
Thank you again.
@@Sly_Wolf_1 It is indeed being pushed away by much larger youtube channels. This one is still pretty well viewed (compared to my other videos) my other ps4 cleaning tutorial is almost not found at all. But I'm glad you found it haha.
You're a life saver. Was struggling to get the bottom cover off, for like an hour until I came across your video. Thank you
No.1 tutorial in whole internet, from screw to screw.
You are my hero and from now -Legend ❤😇👊✌
This is the kind of tutorial I was looking for. Disassembly and then reassembly, each and step explained explained in between. Thank you so much.
You're welcome, tanks for leaving a comment.
@@SpareTimeWorkshop you're welcome 🤗
This is wonderful - and worked perfectly! I want to thank you! I hope you go big!
This video is the bees knees!!!! I just got done cleaning mine. Got like 3 screws leftover 😅 but started right up and is silent like a ninja 😂
Haha thank you very much. That has happened to me too that I have some screws left over. But then I look for the forgotten spots afterwards.
Had this problem within 30 minutes I had it working again thank you man this tutorial was great 👍🏽
Thank you. you got it up and running so quickly.
This is The best video On how to clean Ps4 ever. So details and crystal clear. And i was wondering on how you put the thermal paste that quick and easy without spreading it all over the apu. And voila let their be light. Your ps4 works as good as new. Amazing job man. Appreciated so much. Thank you very very much.
You're welcome!
Tnx a lot I really appreciate your feedback.👍
Just wanted to say thanks, the video helped me reassemble, running quiet now
I just want to say thank you so much for making this video. I was looking for a video for a good minute and none of them matched mine. Also the video was very informative and easy to follow along. Thank you so much ❤
Dude, thank you so much. This vidsaved my ps4, and it's the only one I could find that's not using the see-through top one, which is set up differently. Thank you
This is the best direct step by step cleaning video I've come across on youtube thanks bro
You're welcome. Thank you!
Brilliant video with clear and easy to follow instructions! I’ve just done my first ever complete disasemble and cleaning + replacement of the thermal paste and upgrading to an SSD In my old ps4. And my god a difference it made 😍🤩 Its completely silient comparing to before 🙌🏻 Thank you so much for this video, it really made the job 1000 times easier 👌🏻 greetings from Denmark 😊
Thank you. Well done. Nice to receive a commend from you. Do you notice much difference in load times with that SSD?
@@SpareTimeWorkshop
Cant say for sure. Aa Family guy with 2 small children and a full time job, i dont use the ps4 as much as i used to 😅😆 I havent recorded loadingtime on games before replacing it to compare, but with Cyberpunk 2077, it does feel like the loadingscreens are snappier to load through. I am certain it is an improvement 😊 I Got the Samsung 870 EVO 👌🏻
@SpareTimeWorkshop I dont have any thermal paste but cleaned it off already. What ramifications can arise if I put it back without any?
The cooling paste is not optional. If you put it together without it your PlayStation will overheat very quickly. But judging from your next post you have already tried it. Haha
Thank you, great video! It got a lot quieter.
Glad I found this video, my stepdad has a Star Wars themed PS4 that has been screaming like a banshee for the last couple years, and finally stopped responding when trying to open streaming apps. The other PS4 cleaning video appears to be for a standard PS4, which has different screw layouts than this, while this model has the exact same component blueprint so I could follow it step by step. It took me a couple rewinds to figure out why I had an extra black phillips head screw until I saw that one went on the security shield, lol.
Thank you so much this video truly helped me without you I'd be stuck with a fighter jet for a PS4 forever
I have this model and this video was a blessing. Thank you Very Much. I changed the battery also. It's running like new. God bless.
step by step~~~this is such a great resource! a friend gave me their old ps4 they replaced because it closes down after a while. following this and there were whole dust rats falling out when I flipped it haha. hoping to give it another chance with this
Thank you for actually showing how to open this thing.
You're welcome! 👍
Best video ever on PS4 cuh 1200 model thanks alot bro this really helped me out!!!
This is the Best Playstation 4 original teardown and cleaning video on TH-cam, thanks!
Thank you very much 👍
thank you for this one. my first time cleaning my ps4, and first time changing thermal paste on any of my devices including pc. and i have had it for years. lol so it was really nasty with dust. this tutorial worked perfectly. only thing i would recommend doing differently is when disconnecting the power"box" thing. dont try to disconnect it from the card but from the power supply unit instead. easyer by pulling by the cables CAREFULLY.
I broke two of those cables in the "card end" by trying even doing it as carefully i could. but hopefully i managed to fix it. if not i will have to search for a new cable. but i guess its possible to find one of those(the one with 4 wires side by side)
Thank you for the otherwise great video!
Thank you for sharing your experience. Sorry that your cable is damaged.
That's a great tip, I also think it's safer to disconnect the cable at the power supply instead of the motherboard.
I would use the pliers myself so that I don't have to pull on the cables.
Fortunately, new cables can be bought online. I don't think they are that expensive.
Good luck with the repair.
@@SpareTimeWorkshop yes I saw that, just a few bucks. But I will try and see if I managed to fix it myself first😉
Excellent walkthrough, very thorough and easy to follow. Thank you!
thank you so much for this tutorial. it gave me a good idea about which equipment to acquire and the precautions to take when attempting such a repair. not to mention it guided me through the whole process! tysm!!
You're welcome. Thanks for leaving a comment. Nice to read that people find it useful
Thank you for this. I just deep cleaned my ps4. Best video out there for deep cleaning ps4.
Really comprehensive! You earned a sub!
🥳
I bought a second-hand Ps4 some days ago... the fan noise was like an aeroplane, shutting down the console after a while.
Thanks to your video all problems seem to be fixed, thanks a lot!
You're welcome, was there much dust in it?
@@SpareTimeWorkshop full of dust! The console is 8 years old and I think it never have been cleaned since then
Everything went fine first try with your video! Thank you!
Your tutorial is by far the best PS4 tutorial I could hope to watch. It covers exactly what is required to do a full internal clean on this unit while making it look simple which actualy made it simple to follow along. Well I'm almost finished. Research shows that on a ps4 try and use MX-4 thermal paste or compound. I believe it has to do with heat transfer issues around running a unit like this for long duration game play, which of course makes sense. Big thank you and well done for this!
Thank you so much. Glad you could easily follow my video. 👍
@@SpareTimeWorkshop Guy just to let you know, she is finished clean and running like GT500 on juice... YOU LEGEND!!!!
Finally an actually helpful video. Thanks so much.
Thank you very much for posting this video - very detailed and exact
By far the best "ps4 cleaning " Video.

Well done! Super that your cod3 version is like new again. 👍

Thank you master. You re a life saver ;)

Hey love your vid I have seen a bunch but this is great I love that you didnt skip anything. thank you!!!
You're welcome. I'll do my best to film it as clearly as possible. Thanks for leaving your commend!
Damn thank you so much sadly I'm not a pro surgeon like u so I decided to clean the fan by the part that sticks out and only cleaned all the dust from the top and bottom panel hopefully one day I will be brave enough to be like u 😇 you truly are so useful bro with out you I would had broken my ps4 10/10 video bro keep it up
Haha thank you very much. You've had the trickiest part. That's removing the bottom cover. The rest is not so tricky. You just have to be a little careful with the ribbon cables.
Excellent tutorial. Thank you very much. Definitely couldn't have done it without you👍👍👍
You're welcome, Thank you for leaving a comment. 👍
This Video was Very Much Needed A1
Great video, very helpful! Im grateful you were willing to share your knowledge with us thank you!
No problem. It was fun making the video.
Goated tutorial 🐐
Amazing tutorial! I just bought a second hand ps4 and it sounded like a jet engine (no wonder with the amount of dust that came out). Now its amazingly quite! 😃
What a nice way to buy a ps4. Well done.
@@SpareTimeWorkshop Welp I meant to write 'jet engine' which makes my comment a whole lot better to understand. But again, thank you so much for your tutorial! I don't think I would have succeeded without it 😄😄
Thankyou so so much ! That was so perfect and easy to follow ! You are a legend in the PS world ❤❤❤
That's a little too much honor for me haha. But thanks.
Thx man, you helped me a lot!

You're welcome.
Your video helped perfectly, thank you very much! I'll be back for the ps5 in a few years 🤣
Haha you're welcome. Unfortunately, I do not yet own a PlayStation 5. Let alone a dusty Playstation 5. But as soon as I have 1 I will make a video of it.
I got the same model except few screwdrivers.,and after 7 years you won't believe what I found inside.,how the f...did he managed to work all those years...thx for the video it helped me a big time

Man my ps4 doesn't turn on so i tried everything, then seeing your video my ps4 comes to life again, now i can keep enjoying my path of exile
Very nice to read that your ps4 is working again. What was the problem why it didn't work?
@@SpareTimeWorkshop i suppose that i dont put the right things into his place and by the way i use alcohol
@@sabatagambino2162 For cleaning ps4 parts? Or do you use it yourself? 😊
@@SpareTimeWorkshop Lol, both
Awesome video, going to try this out tomorrow when I get the Thermal paste. For that part, did you just do the one bead of paste down the middle? Or do you smooth it out across the surface prior to re-installing? Thanks!
Thank you, I just do the one bead in the middle.
@@SpareTimeWorkshop Thanks! The tutorial worked great, really well detailed. I did however have a question, sent you a message on instagram if you dont mind! Thanks again!
