I show how to take apart my personal ps4 and clean it out then completely put it back together, the inside of this PlayStation was filthy! If you don't have the hollow torx bit for the screws a small enough flat-head will work! Thanks for watching you beautiful people

Cristian if it’s super dusty give it a try but not really it won’t help much the fans don’t get loud due to just dust alone it’s also because of the cpu/gpu performance in games which now most games use pretty much most of like Modern Warfare
It is much quiter and I noticed the home page was alot smoother when going between a game to TH-cam or others. If you clean out the inside I also suggest doing a database rebuild in the system safe menu to help speed things up even further

My ps4 hasn't been cleaned for 5 years
I JUST cleaned my ps4 today after having it since its release date. It wasn't anywhere near as dusty as this guys ps4. He must be playing it somewhere dusty/dirty. Clean whatever room you have it in, or else it's just gonna get dirty all over again in another year. Dust your room, sweep around....
Great tear-down, just 1 thing, please don't remove the cables by pulling on the wires themselves, use needle-nose pliers and pull from the clip. If you pull the cables like that you are going to cause micro-fractures which can lead to the cable failing or even shorting if you are to aggressive.

I have a 1st gen ps4 from right after launch. Upgraded it to 2TB. Cleaned it twice since I had it. If your ps4 sounds like a jet engine, gotta make sure you clean the inside of the heat sync. Extra hidden dust there. No need to replace thermal paste and all mother board pads are still there intact. Easy work. Nice vid!
PS5 will have more vents so get ready to clean.

Just a full FYI here, if your console is this dirty and dusty, do a full teardown and thoroughly clean it out. That much dust inside a device that produces the heat it does clumps up and becomes more like tack over time, air duster will not get it all and it will collect dust that much quicker again. Also, air duster will just push that dust elsewhere in the console regardless. Air duster is a good option to remove the bulk of the dust, but you'll want to go in with paper towels, qtips and rubbing alcohol (90% proof is best, but any 60% and up will do too). Swab it all down and clean every component, lightly and sparingly. While in this process, it wouldn't hurt to replace the thermal paste, it's quite possible given the state of this ps4 and if your's looks like this, it's been running hotter than normal and that thermal paste is looking pretty crunchy. But it's dealer's choice on that last bit, definitely do the rest, your console will thank you by living longer.
Yeah, agreed. All of the dust is stuck in the radiator fins and thermal paste and pads should be replaced too.
Poor motherboard didn't get a clean and no new thermal paste for the apu
And using tweezers and cotton buds to clean the fan is just meh 😩

Mod Reno perhaps its alcohol idk it seems to dry pretty fast and people recommend it if you need some scrubbing because it dries so fast
Thermal paste is needed only when the machine or console has aged. Being a PS4 and just a few years now so no need to change the paste. just more air pressure would have been great. also with just this clean up he has already saved aka prolonged the consoles life

@Resident Zombie oh thank you but I feel like not trying to destroy it you see anything I have in my hand will not work properly I had a ps3 from my best friend after 1 year I saw how to get rid if dust then I tried it and I broke and did not work so I gave to my friend in the end who fixed it but I never used much of my ps4 pro I did not use it for 1 year 2019 fully I used it during lockdown so yeah I clean it up thank for your opinion I have a contact of my friend who can clean it properly and I will tell the things you told me

Make him do it, its a family project
The main problem, specially with as much hair/dirt that is in that ps4, is the area between the fan and the heatsink radiator. without pulling it completely apart you will never find the wall of hair/dirt that collects on it. Going that far into cleaning your ps4 you will also need some thermal paste. Just a heads up to anyone with a ps4 this dirty! I cleaned a friends that sounded like a jet engine and now it sounds like the fan is broken because it is so quiet
I agree if there was that much dirt and debris in the fan odds are good that the heat sink is completely blocked on the fan side.
For sure, after re cleaning it later I realized that I missed a portion of the cleaning

Thanks for this man, to be completely honest, i havent cleaned my ps4 in three years. Recently though, specifically during game cutscenes, it decides to overheat and shut off. The fan has also been louder than usual. I figured it was about time but honestly had no idea how to do it. Thanks for the video, this will hopefully keep me from destroying my ps4
My first ps4 was this bad that was before I learned that you should clean it every few days. It is now spotless.

If only I could find a video like this for the normal PS4 without the cuts and commentary, I'm planning on deep cleaning mine and getting new top panels if I can and hydro dipping them. As my current panels have deep scratches in them. And my PS4 was in a house with a bunch of cats since I got it so cleaning it should be interesting..

I have owned several consoles never had a dust issue like this unless I bought it used.
I got the pro when they came out... 1st time cleaning it. Waaaay quieter, which was expected. The fan used to kick on full bore as soon as I opened ESO or Fortnite. Not no mo'. Unexpected bonus... The video quality is way better? My kids and I were blown away.
Tried following steps but it literally exploded when i pressed the power button. i’m deaf now lol but at least i don’t have to hear that jet engine, new sub!

@Bloodd Clott When I had my ps3 I still lived with my parents and they smoked inside and every surface inside the ps3 had a yellow tar on it from cigarettes

If your PS4 pro looked like that the heatsink is most likely also going to be clogged with crap as well. I’d tear it down and check the thermal paste and pads as well because first generation ps4 pros were not given good quality thermal paste. You’ve only partially fixed the problem I can’t believe your system hasn’t fried with all that dust lol.
I cleaned it as well as I could without going past what I know how to do, it runs super quiet now and doesnt have any problems. It ran fine before I cleaned it too just loud
I have bought my ps4 pro 4 years ago and now its starting to make sounds even when i play games like fortnite or injustice. I just hope it survives until the ps5's price drops

Turned my a-30 into a stealth fighter.
A lot of people don't know this as its not something normal, buy a roll of sticky velcro that will wrap around your ps4, go onto Amazon and look for "frog skin fabric" or "pre filter fabric", it is a highly breathable water resistant fabric used for car filters, place velcro around the ps4 intake areas (sides) where air is pulled in, cut a 2 inch wide strip by however long the sides are and velcro it on, it will capture 90% of the dust, it wipes off easily, doesn't ruin the profile and can be removed for deeper cleaning, do not place over the exhaust port unless you want to overheat your ps4. Can be done for all other consoles as well, extends the life by a hell of a lot. $10 dollars very well spent. Also makes your ps4 liquid splash resistant.
It would have been extremely helpful if the ps4 had some sort of dust filter similar to this, I'm glad you found a work-around

I've never had this problem with my PS4 Pro since I dust it regularly & blow it out with my air compressor. With that much dust, you should have used a vacuum or blow out/off dust outside.

I bought a 2nd hand ps4 pro, looked almost like yours. It was so dirty that I wondered where it stood. It also sounded like a F16 when running just the OS.
Anyway, after cleaning it, changing thermal paste it looks great and runs near silent!

Going on 2 and a half with my GoW edition and I haven’t cleaned it. The whole reason why I’m here is bc my fan was crazy loud just 20 minutes ago playing Spider-Man. Took off the top cover and it doesn’t look REALLY bad but I’m definitely doing a deep clean this weekend.

YOOO this video helped me out a lot!! Also, here's some more tips for lazy people, I didn't have a small enough flathead to get the screws out so I used a kitchen knife instead and worked like a charm, also I used a an old mascara wand and a makeup brush to clean up the fan, inner corners and a vacuum cleaner so that the dust doesn't settle down even further in when loose

Had my PS4 for 7 years and never opened it up and I’ve been using it alot. I opened it up to get a sneak peak and it’s so dusty it’s disgusting to look at. Just preordered my PS5 so I’m going to make sure I clean it every week even if it’s not dusty. Ps5 looks easier to clean and PS4 looks so complicated. I’ll let my PS4 build dust.

For some reason the first set was four isles away from where the screwdrivers were at. Like a completely separate isle for the drills and bits but it was not remotely close to where the screwdrivers were.
