I have cucumbers, tomatoes, broccoli, bunch onions, lettuce, radishes, pea's, green beans, also my herbs are still going strong. I am in zone 9 it is cold but warms up in the afternoon. February is the strawberry festival down south. I'm still learning too. Happy gardening and thank you Asia!
You gonna make me try winter sowing
It’s super easy and hands off. I love using this method Broke!
I have chard, spinach, cabbage and kale going! So excited for the new season. My first year with a heat mat Asia. It has changed my life! I had Napa cabbage seeds germinate overnight! Happy gardening all!
I I sowed today as well and created a green room in my former laundry room. I went tankless and it created so much more space.
O nice!! I need to look into that. I could get more space without a tank!
I never heard of tree collards before but they sound like something I need. I absolutely love eating collards. 🤤
Enjoyed your video! My area in Oklahoma got upgraded to zone 7b in 2023. Each time a zone upgrade happens, it's a whole new experience in keeping up with things in the garden. I'm currently working on establishing an orchard. Never had an orchard before, so it's a new fun journey. Would love to hear more about your orchard!
Hello! Homestead Heart sent me to your channel.
You are always very educational. I share your channel a lot when people ask about starting a garden. Also I have a tree collard. I thought they all grew like that. 3 years old and about 4 feet tall.
Awww thank you I appreciate that very much! They might but I never leave them long enough. Thanks doe the comment! I’ll leave at least one this year to try my hand at it!
great videoI THINK I WILL START ONIONS
Hi Neighbor! So glad I found your channel. Spring is so tricky in VA! I’m up in northern Va. My zone changed from 7a to 7b. Presprouted my kale this week and potted them up yesterday inside. Past couple years I followed the packet and they always ended up bolting cause of our short springs. You’ve inspired me to try large onions again, the whole lat/longitude thing throws me cause I dont meet any of the day lengths! We shall see what happens. Stay warm! We are getting some flurries up here. ❄️
Hi 👋🏾! Yes it can! One day 40° and the next 80° and then summer lol. My zone didn’t change from what I’ve found. O ok nice! Same here that’s why I’m attempting to plant mine in late February this year. O good, I planted them in February (I believe) last year and it worked so I’m trying again. Hopefully you’ll have luck this year! You do the same. We had sleet today no snow yet.
I was a bit puzzled by where you are, until I noticed the title of this video. I am in Zone 7B in Virginia (formerly 7A) a ways north of you! I am sun challenged (in a forest) so I am limited mostly to peppers, tomatoes, pole beans, and peas so far, there are probably more useful herbs and vegetables that I could learn to grow. For this year I've started two batches of the longer-season peppers and will add in tomatoes with the next batch; I'll start peas in containers when it is not quite so cold. My original grow lights were similar grow light LED bulbs but I put them in old 3-bulb pole lights over an old desk. After the plants get bigger I put them on a table with a fancier LED grow light hung from the unfinished ceiling.
Thank you for your very practical and effective tips. I am already learning a lot from you.
Wow i can't believe it's time to plant again. Where has the year gone.
Me either! The time flew by!
SISSSS!!! I am so glad I found your page. You have been so inspirational. I'm new to this, and my plan is to begin next January (2025). This year, is solely dedicated to learning. Thanks for sharing so much and for teaching. I'm in NJ, so I believe that's zone 7a or 7b.
Thank you! I’m in Virginia and this is my 1st year gardening and I was looking for a helpful video to help me.
Hi Asia! My mom & i just got done sowing 120 onion seeds. Zone 6a we have to start extra early also. Happy growing 💚
I’m in the same zone, what else did y’all start? I’m a new gardener.
hey there, i tried sowing some onion seeds, but they have not germinated, anything special that u do to have them germinate? happy growing
Hi 👋🏾! O wow! That’ll be a nice harvest later this year. Happy growing to you!
I’m in 6a too, I just started my channel. My first episode drops tomorrow. Feel free to check it out.
@novaatiya7066 I winter sowed some perennial herbs & biennial flowers for our zone. Also i started all the spring brassica crops like broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and brussel sprouts. Yesterday I started all the summer peppers because they take a very long time to germinate and we only have 173 days in zone 6a to grow warm weather crops. Good luck on your garden journey and Happy growing 💚
Cotyledon… first 2 leaves before true leaves emerge 😊
That’s it!! Thank you! I could not think of that lol
You can plant mashrooms in the room you keep the small quils
This video was so informative .. this is my second year gardening and I just love this kinda of content ❤thanks
Your channel is a real godsend! 🙏👍❣️
Thank you for the commentary ♥️👩🏽🌾💪🏽
Asia I love the fact that u don't edit and u keep it real. Thank u
🖐🏽 I winter sowed all brassicas on the 12th. I'm in northeast Ohio and we have long seasons. Like you I do not like the cold. It is 6 degrees right now. However, it's nice and toasty inside. 😊
O nice! Maybe I’ll give brassicas a try in winter sowing next. Thank you for the comment! Totally understand. O my, that’s cold, cold! Thank goodness…stay warm!
Your videos are exceptional and economical ❤. Love watching it
I came over from Broke Farmer's. I'll be back tomorrow to watch more videos. (While I start some winter sowing) Thank you!
Hi! Thanks for coming over. Welcome to the channel!!
Nice video Asia!I will start some seeds inside asap watching your videos has hiped me up for better gardening 2024 😊
Happy seed starting! I just finished seed ordering today....way too many for my tiny condo garden 😂. You've inspired me to experiment some too. This year...drum roll....chinese pink celery!!!!
This will be my first year doing the winter sowing method. I'm so excited to increase my experience every year in what I'm growing and my knowledge. I already have my jugs ready and also what seeds I want to grow for now. Just waiting for a day when I can plant my jugs. Maybe tomorrow if I don't have to go to work.
O yay! Congrats! If you like hands off you will love it. Mother Nature does it all for you. It’s so exciting to learn new ways of gardening, totally get it! O ok cool. Hopefully you can get them started soon!
Hello from Northern Indiana! First video of yours I've seen. Great content! I LOVE your shirt!!!!
Wish you could visit my future garden. You make it look soooo easy. Love your natural/ non-fake videos!!!
Hi 👋🏾! Thanks for watching! Thank you!
Thank you for explaining the germination rate ❤I am just starting and will do my seed starting tomorrow. I’m in Miami ❤and I just subscribed
Hey Asia. Thanks for all the great information. Happy growing ❤😊
Hi , I’m watching your video its great thank you , i was growing the roman chamomile and some one told me that variety was not very good for tea but, the german chamomile was the truly more nutritious one ❤so here goes 😃
You are truly sunshine. Thank you for sharing your garden.
Awww thank you!! You’re welcome!
You're so awesome sis ❤❤ thanks for sharing your skills and your passion with us! Love this one!
Awww thank you! You’re welcome!
I'm growing a few strawberries and some long beans.
But I've got a while until Spring still.
George Davis
Viewing from Maryland, thank you for sharing
Hi Asia! I like the idea of wrapping the trays with plastic wrap. I need to get me some grow lights now. Thank you for all of your knowledge and for sharing it with us! 😊
Please make videos on quail and chicken coop. How to build it and take care of them
I have a video on the quail build but it was a prefab coop from Aivituvin. I will do more videos on care but I have a few of those on the channel as well.
Hello , this is my first time on your channel. I’m trying to start my garden this year since I did not grow my garden last year due to rodent issue in the previous neighborhood where I lived Now I moved to a different state where that’s not an issue and I now have the space to start a garden as well . I will try this method. Thank you. I’m subscribing as well.
Hi 👋🏾! Welcome to the channel! O I’m happy to hear you can garden again. Happy growing!
Yay! So excited for Spring. 💛
Me too Lala! I can’t wait!
Hi Asia! Awesome video. I winter sowed all my tomatoes, peppers, herbs, and I through in 2 different delicata squash because I couldn't remember which one you said you liked where you needed nothing to add but butter 😄
As always, thanks for sharing!😊
Can delicata squash be winter sown? I planted mine late last year and never got a harvest, and I don't want to miss out this year. 😊
Hey Elwanda! Nice! I wish I sowing those now. It’s the Honey Boat variety. It’s a delicata though. Hopefully it tastes just as delicious!
@YellowDoorUrbanHomesteoh ok cool, thanks, friend 😊
Tree collards, interesting.
Can’t wait to grow and taste them!
👋 👋 👋 Asia ❤
Hi Erica!!
I love Holly hocks
Same here!
Love your shirt!
❤️the video!
I think I'm going to start with eggplants 🍆 peppers 🌶 brassicas and sweet peas soon. Your fingernails 💅🏽 match your kitchen cupboards 👍🏼
Hi Ms. Asia this vid was really helpful I too collect all those type of containers but was perplexed as to what to grow in what. I hv some GA collards, garlic, carrots and slow growing mustard, turnip greens, kale , spinach out back in containers /very small raised bed. 🙄😉🌱 Thank u 🙏🏾
Hi 👋🏾! O yay, very happy to hear the video was helpful. I’m learning every year which containers are best too. Sounds like a good crop of veggies! I have most of the same. Completely forgot about spinach this year. I want a large leaf variety. Need to look through my seed catalogs. You’re welcome!!
Enjoyed the video always👍🏽
Thanks Sue!!
We are having frigid below zero temperatures in N Idaho! I still need to plan my garden. Doing some decluttering this month.
Where did you get your T-shirt? I like it!
O goodness! Stay warm…I wouldn’t do well in Idaho lol. O ok sounds like a productive day. A subscriber sent it to me from my Amazon wishlist. I thought it was so cute!
Great video
Love video
I hope to see your hollyhocks in full bloom come later this year! This will be my first year growing them 🤗
Thanks! They are so pretty! Good luck with yours!
Love the videos as always...tree collards I'm so interested
I grew 2 michigan collard seeds last year they got a nice size..I left them outside, I don’t think it will survive this cold 😢
Sweeeeeet ✊🏾😎🌰🌰🌰
So what type of lights do you use for your plants, also when you sow in winter a place the outside do you still put soil in your container. Lol nevermind I continued watching and you answered my question.
Hi Asia I have a purple tree collard from the Tree Collard Project. It grows fast and I’m planning on order another type from her. I started from a cutting but wonder how well I can grow the seeds.
Hi Asia! LOVE your videos and how you use what you have. Makes things simple and less stressful (less expensive). What all do you plant in the milk jugs? I am actually in South Georgia so less harsh elements. I love this method and I'm curious what seeds I can use the method for.
Hi! Thank you! I plant most herbs and flowers in them. I’ve seen people start their whole garden with this method. Tomatoes and all.
❤❤❤
Never seen winter seed sowing
It’s so easy and hands off. I want to start trying more seeds this way. I’ll add a few new ones each year going forward!
Hi Asia. Thank you for the informative video. Are those large hoops in your garden cattle panel. If so, can you tell me where you got them? It would be much appreciated.
Hi! Yes they are. I got them from Tractor Supply. I cut some and others are the full panel.
@YellowDoorUrbanHomestead oh thank you so much. I love your garden.
What all did you plant in your winter garden jugs besides the hollyhocks?
I planted dill, parsley, asters, sage and a few other things. I can’t remember everything right now. I’ll do an update on them soon. Most of the jugs have seedling in them now.
When do you plant melons in 7b. I'm in Georgia. Thank you 😊
After your last frost. Melons grow in warm/hot weather. You’re welcome!
Has anyone here grown lovage? I can’t get it to germinate. I’ve direct sowed, started them in seed trays….
I love your tshirt, do you sell it?
Thank you! I got it from a subscriber who got it from Amazon.

Cotyledon-first leaves (17:13) is that what you mean?
Yep, that was it! Thank you!
You're welcome!@@YellowDoorUrbanHomestead
I tried seed starting mix last year for the first time and that stuff dried out too fast, never again
Lol it does dry out pretty quickly once I remove the plastic. Did you bottom water? If I use it I try to keep water in the bottom tray for that reason especially with the lights I use.
@YellowDoorUrbanHomestead I was bottom watering but I just missed some days🤣
😘👍🙏
What is bult?
When the plant produces flowers that will dry and create seeds it’s called bolting, flowering or going to seed. After this happens for most plants there won’t be another harvest from the plant.
Hi Asia , I just wanted to let you know I sent you a little package of some things I made...I hope you like homemade things...and of course a pack of seeds...I couldn't find an email for you I'm old...lol... I hope you like what I sent....I mailed it today, they said 3 to 7 days, you know how the mail is sometimes ...hope you get it sooner than later
Hi! I picked up your package today! I loved everything in it! Thank you very much! I can’t wait to use the bowl covers!
@@YellowDoorUrbanHomestead I am so happy you got it...the bowl covers especially good when rising bread...your welcome I am glad you liked it ...cant wait to see the next video ... 🙂
😘👍🙏
