I am an elderly lady in a highrise apt. I raised quail in my apt. and had all the eggs and meat I needed. I finally quit doing it because I will be moving to live with my daughter. but it can be done even in an apartment.

They're so quiet, they can be kept indoors like parakeets if you get the right cage,,, which seems critical.

Hey 👋🏾! I enjoy raising them. They are pretty quiet, even the roosters aren’t very loud. I think the chirps when they are chicks is louder than the noises they make as adults…that’s just my opinion though.

I think if people are going to eat meat, they should at least understand how their animals are kept and what it takes to get the meat to their table. You treat your animals much better than most commercial animals get treated. I would love to see meat animals get treated respectfully and kindly when they are alive.

Thank you for sharing this video. Another place to buy quail eggs is in Asian markets. They are sold fresh and canned. The prices are better value versus the 'premium' grocery stores that sell them.

Many people who have been raising birds and they stop producing, it was because of the feed "Purina". Try another brand or see if you can make your own.

Hi Ms Asia. Thanks for your videos they are so very positive and informative. Would you ever raise the quail indoors exclusively? I cannot have outdoor fowl where I am but I am considering keeping them in the house. I heard they smell horrible. Is this true?
Hi 👋🏾! You’re welcome! I would if I didn’t have an outside option. They do smell if the cage isn’t kept clean. I add new bedding often to the totes that is inside to keep the smell down and I clean it out at least every two weeks.
Those quail are so adorable looking. Do we think quail eggs would be better for someone who’s allergic to chicken eggs? I don’t know who else to ask. My son is allergic to chicken eggs. He can have it in a recipe if it’s like the fourth thing down. Your garden looks wonderful by the way I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and I look forward to the next video.

Hi Asia. I so love your video. Gotta quick question and I wanted your thoughts. Chicken manure. Do you think any bird manure will do? I have a pet bird. Bedding is corn husk. He eats seed of course. Couldn't I add this to my compost?
Hi Michelle! Yes, that would be fine! I compost my quail manure.
You use a collapsible rain barrel? How do you like it? I heard they tip over a lot. So I’ve been hesitant to get a collapsible one, but I can’t afford a stable one.
I had one but I did not level it correctly. It worked well it was user error for me. I believe it would work well as long as it’s level.

How do you feed/water the adult quail?
I use a small chicken waterer. Once they are larger I feed them like I feed the chickens just with game bird feed lol

Hi! They can all be eaten. You won’t which eggs were fertilized until they have been in the incubator for a while and are at the stage that they can be kindled ( using a bright light to see inside the eggs).
