Not many people know this, if you make a coblestone stairs a place it upside down over your storage that you have in the hole, you can access your storage through the gap of the step and the floor, and the game recognizes has a full block, it's a good way to conserve your food until you get the saw.
Not sure if anyone said this, but node search mode works by looking for ore in a specific radius from the player, which in this case is eight blocks. Which essentially means take a reading and if it comes up with any indication dig a tunnel eight blocks away from that point on either the x y or z axis and there should be ore.
I just found you a few days ago and I truly enjoy watching you play this game. I enjoy how the game play is about more crafting and three processes you need to go through to make things happen. Thank you so much and keep them coming ❤
As someone who doesn't usually explore caves for mining, I was very impressed with how you found that tin node (also hints towards silver around that area!!!!!!) You effectively did exactly what you were supposed to with those readings as well, a 2 block tall tunnel reveals 4 more blocks per block broken, ala strip mining. You can also dig a single block tunnel for as far as you can reach every third block just to see if you can find anything reaching off the main tunnel strips. The handbook does state that once you get node readings, it's only a question of which direction to dig towards.
If you decide to do the wood flooring, I would suggest wooden slabs placed on the top half of the block instead of wooden planks, 2 boards vs 4 boards and it will make any room underneath the floor seem more expansive
That's a great tip, I'm still not sure if I want to do floor boards since the area below I'm planning to use as a cellar and I believe stone gives better preservation. But I might end up digging something even deeper and using that space for something else.
Loving this! You were so lucky finding useful things. I haven't found tin yet and I made a copper anvil to make some more copper tools. I mined out 3 copper nodes, and found out that it pays off to mine a little ring around the node when you think you are finished, in my case there was more ore hidden diagonally down or up with all 3 nodes.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this in the comments in future videos, but if you spread your ores in the crucible rather than keep them in one stack when smelting, they are supposed to smelt quicker!
This will sound counter-intuitive, but I have a better time using the pro-pick to pinpoint nodes when I use a smaller setting, 6 or even 4. It's a radius, so 8 is actually a pretty huge area to search, and the volumes are inexact so it's hard to tell if you're getting closer or farther when all you see is "medium" or something
That first tin spot, you should check the corners for hidden ore blocks. Most ore generates in a disk, but the disk can shift with the ground in world gen so can go up and down by a block or two as it goes sideways.
This game looks amazing! I have always wished someone would take terraria and merge it with minecraft, and this seems to be close enough! Great content as always! 🎉
first time playing with any degree of success, learnt a lot watching lets plays. i got lucky when looking for tin, found a massive node of rich or sticking out the side of a mountain, ended up leaving with 2 stacks of rich ore. enough to last me a while. also found three meteors in a rocky desert area and now have 60 meteoric iron ingots but im too afraid to use it. should i turn it into armor?
The Foundry mod: it allows you to make 2 new molds, one that can cast 12 ingots at a time, and larger version that allows 24 at a time. Not too expensive, but saves on having ingot molds everywhere. If you are interested.
Oh, that sounds interesting. I might end up using something like that. I can't imagine a scenario where I'll need that many ingots quite yet, haha, so maybe once I've progressed far enough to need something like that.
It can definitely be a grind! But it's a lot of fun if you take it slow. Maybe turn down some of the difficulty settings or make the mining sped faster, that can help for a first playthrough.

Oh interesting, I might give that a shot. I'm close to having a proper cellar though so maybe when I start up a new run through.
sadly this appear to not be working anymore

You can make a crude door out of logs without needing a saw. It doesn't work as a cellar door, but it keeps drifters out of your house at night.
Sometimes ores under surface nuggets can be five or six layers down, not always right below the dirt.

Thank you for watching! There is definitely more to come.

Thank you! I did randomly decide to dig down and found it so I got pretty lucky haha. Thank you for the tips!
You can drop your stack of torches in a campfire to ignite them instead of lighting them one by one.
Oooh great to know, that will save a lot of time.

Very informational and fun to watch, this really is quite a complex and fascinating game. Thank you for making this series :]
Thank you for watching!

Thank you! Yes this seed has been really lucky haha. Hope your adventures go well!

Oh I didn't know that! I'll have to give that a try in the future.
Love this series.
Thank you! Much more to come!
Im so happy I found your channel. This game looks great.
This game looks complex but so engaging!
Just found this series, I’m really enjoying it. Definitely keep it up.
Thank you! Definitely more to come in the future.
Nice episode @dannyrothko !
I thought you did a good job with the pro pick finding the cassiterite (ka-SIT-er-ite). Looking forward to the next one. 🙂
Thank you! Yeah I kept pronouncing that wrong haha. Glad we were able to find that ore! I definitely struggled finding iron before.
Vintage story used to have hay beds, it that not a thing anymore? I've just found your channel and subscribed too, love this game.
Yes there are straw beds still, but I don't have one yet, and the hunger drain is pretty big from sleeping.Thank you for subscribing! More to come!
you can make primitive fences with sticks and logs
Yes very true, I wanted to wait for the planks since I'm always running out of sticks early on 😆
Loving the series, VS is the best game! You have the luck of the seraph!!
Thanks so much! Yes I've gotten really lucky with this seed!
still one of the best games out there.
It's so fun!

Ah interesting. I may need to change that then. I feel like I got pretty lucky finding that tin haha.
I love montage that series vintage story :>
Thank you so much!
Great vid
Thanks so much!
You should swap that food reed basket for one of your vessels, they are better for food preservation
Thanks! I just finished up my basic house in the new episode, and I have some clay down in the cellar.

Ah that's a good tip. The pick was saying that some ore is still in the area so I'll have to dig back down there and check it out.
Yea super cool game dude! and there's always room for moar utuberrs:D
Glad to be able to play it and share my experience! Hope you enjoy the playthrough.
Hell yeah
This game looks amazing! I have always wished someone would take terraria and merge it with minecraft, and this seems to be close enough! Great content as always! 🎉
It's an awesome game, definitely worth checking out!

Awesome! Glad your play-through is off to a good start. I haven't gotten meteor iron before so I'm not sure! Sounds very cool though.
now i need to watch more
Thank you! There's more to come!

watching you play makes me want to get the game but i don't know if i have the patients to play it lol

How do you get the map on the corner and the time and season in the other
The map in the corner you can add via the interface settings (minimap). The top-left information is from a mod, called HUD Clock
When's the next video for this series?
I'm working on the next part soon!
where’s your bed?
I make one in the latest episode!
