Love your gnomes! I bought the Gnomes of Grimblewood book and just did Sarah's Gnorri make along. All made from sock yarn leftovers and mini skeins - so friggen' adorable! So much fun to make. I just couldn't stomach making yet another stash busting scrappy socks or blankets or hats. My grandie girl 'commissioned' me to knit a gnome for her mummy's bday. She raided my sock yarn stash came back with pinks and purples, I do think she had an agenda... she would ultimately take ownership of it...... her mother was onto that! The one & only time I knitted for christmas was a year long knit fest for items for the entire family. Everyone got jumpers, socks, beanies, scarves - a complete winter kit out. My family loved it all, except being high summer the items were packed away and forgotten. I still do a year long knitfest, but they are given to my family on Mothers Day. I store the knits in my late mother inlaw's hand carved glory box.
My family has simplified Christmas over the last few years. My older kids have their dad & his family, so they go there on Xmas Eve. Christmas day the 'kids' spend time with their own family & inlaws, then come home for Boxing Day. Only the grandies get gifts, everyone brings a plate of food & drinks to contribute. It's become a bit of a competition, where what everyone cooks is kept top secret, one year we had nothing but desserts - it was awesome. I love it because I only cook one dish instead of having to make a banquet for 15 people all by myself - yay!

I think I'm going to have to get that book too because these guys are so cute. I had to give mine all away in the end, so I did do some gift knitting after all. You're so lucky to have family who want you to make things for them, I'm still working on mine. Take care and have a wonderful christmas.

Just discovered your podcast Ailsa & really enjoying it. It's great to find another Aussie youtuber. I'm looking forward to seeing how you finish your blanket - I've just ordered the yarn to make the Alpenglow. I'm with you on xmas knitting - but this year I did knit a stocking with a bear to go in it

I'm so happy you've found the channel, I love finding other Aussie you tubers as well. I did end up knitting more gnomes and gave them all away so maybe I did do some gift knitting after all. Take care and very merry Christmas.
