On the nations that allow all analogue modes, and that are not anal retentive about using different radios for citizens band, the TYT allows citizens band for CEPT, UK CB27/81, German CB 80 channels, Russian 25Mhz to 29.995, Japan CB, and a few others. But there is a catch. Your modes will be FM 25khz and FM 12.5 Khz. You can still listen to AM CB, but the transmission will be FM.

@@indridcold8433 Not sure if this is true for the regular 9800, but I have the 9800D plus and it can transmit AM if you just turn the menu setting "AM" on

The microphone cord un plugs from the head unit. You can purchase (like I just did) a new microphone on Amazon for $30. My PTT button was sticking and would key up on its own

I have an inquiry. What is the difference between the TYT TH-9800 plus and the TYT TH-9800D?

the "D" comes unrestricted. able to transmit beyond amateur radio frequencies.
The non-D models can do the same if you use Chirp or the factory programming software to change the band range values. Stay with the plus models. 9800 plus or 9800D plus, they have updated firmware, and a few hardware improvements vs the non-plus models.

      Unsure

@@oregondude I have set up several of them for others. They seem identical to me. I think the D model may be unlocked. That is just a guess. Another response gets the credit for that reveal. I have bit tested it. Regardless, I have to reflash all of them for their various services that people want from them. Thus, it is transparent, if that is what is different.

@@oregondude There was a fire in my house. ATYT did sort of make it through the fire. It did not work properly. The second side would pull the voltage down to 8 volts. Then the radio would die. If I used only side one, it has full power without a problem. The radio was, not mine, at the time of the fire. But I claimed it as a damage. Someone left it with me to programme all of their work frequencies and PL tones into it. The, "customer," got a new radio from my insurance. I got to keep the old one. It is actually very interesting. There is a rural railroad that passes two kilometers from my home. I can hear the workers going about their railroad duties when the trains pass. Granted, I would have rather kept my house. But I took the tiny positives alone with the enormous negatives I am still experiencing. I may buy a new one if I decide to get an amateur radio license.
