This F150 rebuild is so bad you wouldn't buy it blindfolded!

  • These sellers were not trying to hide anything with their shoddy work on this third-party auction car. They just got in way over their head on this rebuild and are trying to unload it. Today we will take a look at the laughable work on this Ford F150 Platinum edition, and I'll explain how it ended up in the auction with a salvage title even though it was never totaled.

@@patriotgarage. Yes. Depending on the state you live in. The laws are different everywhere. In Oregon (it may have changed by now; this happened about 14 years ago) A friend of mine had a ‘55 Chevy truck. Turned out it had a 56? (All I can remember for sure is that it was a similar year, but not the same year.) frame. During a level 3 inspection, they caught that, and would not let him have registration. In AZ (My home state.). Mismatched frame/body will usually get you a “AVIN” ( ASSIGNED VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER). It’s an etched, stainless steel plate that goes in your door jamb, and has about 9 numbers. Homemade trailers get the same thing, as do theft-recovered vehicles that have had the original dash-mounted VIN plate removed.

28 days on newer vehicles, which require a sale. Older vehicles are 7 and require no sale. This is best case scenario but rarely do the police work that fast. Generally double the times on paperwork.

The Bondo wasn't even fully dry, made allot of money on that one even though it had a severely bent frame and drove offset. You made me allot of money and I just wanted to thank you!

They added the fun of discovering mold/mildew and rust in hidden areas with all those holes, they could have at least filled in the holes, even if they used waterproof tape, so the buyer has some piece of mind that there's little to no risk of water finding it's way into the interior and no moisture getting into the electronics. That truck is now truly F'd up. SMH.

I need to correct you on a couple of points:
    1) The tail lights are not missing - everyone on the road knows that F150 drivers have no use for signals, so the factory has stopped installing them.
    2) That's not primer on the roof of the F150 - it's faded paint. That part of the truck is the closest to the sun, so its just lost its lustre a little earlier than the rest of the truck. It is at least 6 months old after all.....
    3) You were correct about the holes on the cab being a vent, but that's a factory fitment rather than a doctored segment. Most Ford drivers tend to wax on about the benefits of their truck over all other makers and all that hot air has got to go somewhere or all the seals explode out of the vehicle. It's also a handy spot to put your hands on cold days in order to to push it.
    4) Air bag deployment - that can happen any time the driver's feelings were hurt by someone dissing their truck and telling them they should have bought a Chevy or RAM - or even a Toyota - instead.
Pop rivets - nope, that one I have no explanation for.....

If the bags are deployed, then the seat belts on those chairs are no good, the airbag computer will need a reset or replacing, along with the clockspring in the steering column if that bag went off.

We called up the tow yard and asked if we could just sign the title over to them as the car was destroyed. If she would of had full coverage on the car it would of been like a 11k car. But the oldest didn't put it on the car. The rear end of the car was crushed going backwards into a tree and rolled onto it's roof. it was crushed badly into the back seat that luckily no one was back there. Not sure what the shop did with the car it would have only been good for it's motor and transmission. But the car had a clear title that was signed over to the shop.

This is clearly a product of the Harbor Freight School of auto body repair. The home school package is free when you purchase the starter tool package from them. I’m pretty sure this guy didn’t actually graduate though.

Are you sure that's bondo dust? I thought airbags use powdered lubricants that cover the car after being deployed.

Honestly these doctored up ones pretty much make them useless to be repaired or get used for parts....which kinda sucks for a lot of vehicles that come through that get "fixed"
