I bought an auction car from pictures only and got more than I bargained for!

- Sometimes when you buy an auction car you don't get exactly what you were expecting. This 1993 Mustang GT convertible is one of those auction cars. I bought it through pictures only, as I do with many of my cars. Once I saw it in person for the first time, my original plan for this car changed.

TH-cam keeps deleting my replies so I’m done, sorry. Funny how the bots have no problem commenting. Get it together Google!
Don't blame you. Sometimes it defies all logic.
same thing here .I left a comment about hour ago seeking your expertise about my foxbody car and got deleted . maybe you might see this maybe not.?
I had that problem at one time and had to change the settings in my profile to allow Google to auto-delete old comments. I think if the comment is older than a year, it gets deleted once you change that. Hope this helps.
TH-cam once deleted my account due to “offensive content” which would be fine I GUESS, except for one glaring and simple fact…..I HAD NO CONTENT ON MY CHANNEL….i guess that offended someone …… somehow…..
they never will
A Rad Car worthy of repair. Best rebuild content on the internet.
This guy REALLY knows his shit! He makes it "look" SO easy! LOL
Oh man, how I miss this work. This was my favorite part, pulling to get the lines and fit back. I always loved rear crashes, no engine or electronics to deal with. Keep on Scott, you"re doing Great!!
I love to see the work fixing the damage and getting it all back in shape. Similarly I like the Wes Lee Music Repair channel where he takes an apparently hopelessly dented trumpet or french horn and gets it all back smooth. You guys are very different but yet have a lot of skills in common.
ABSOLUTELY!!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Think we are witnessing a new era! Scott's new passion, Mustangs! 😆😆
Still waiting on more content about the project we can not name.. or he’ll not do it..
Well, that Scott guy ain’t right in the head so…. 😂
@@vehcorI beg to differ Sir!!! You do have a good head on your shoulders. You’re a smart dude Amigo.
@@vehcor haha. I do like your sense of humour.
And I understand why it’s not getting done that we are aware of. Cheers from Australia.
Your work leaves me in the same awe as a sunrise Scott, I would happily buy a repaired vehicle from you or one other guy called Chris in the uk as you both have the knowledge and experience to do the repairs up to or beyond factory, in your case anyway great to have you back 🏴👍🏻
I have been wishing to see another one of your body rebuild videos as your sense of humor is killer in a good way.
Glad to have you back beating and bending metal again. Your repair videos are good and I love watching you expose the salvage crooks. But this is truly what you do waaaaay better than most. Can't wait for the next exciting episode. Besides I have a soft spot in my head or heart or...where ever...for fox body Mustangs.
I love the scream. Keep it up, never let that die, the real OG’s know what’s up.
Agreed!
Amen, I've watched them all and still chuckle on every one! Hilarious!
Thanks Scott. Please keep those videos coming 🚗
Will do! Thanks for the support!
If anyone can make this thing look good , you can. I could not believe how good the last turned out. Good luck ..... looking forward to seeing it done.
My brother burned through a dozen foxbodies in the mid-late 90s. I remember him buying some for 50 bucks and driving them home. Then ripping the engine out to put in the 351C that would twist the frames. He could swap everything in a weekend towards the end.
Glad to see you back to work! Nice
Your humor and talent repairing these cars are what brought me here and subbed lol. I laugh at most of your jokes, especially the hair ones haha.. first video I watched was a heater core video on a chevy. I did my heater core that very weekend and fixed it! This was years ago btw... Appreciate you! Keep wrenching
Alright !! back in the shop !!
Love watching somebody that's good at what they do. Thanks for sharing.
This man is WAY BETTER than "good"! The MAGIC he does while "massaging" that sheet metal is surreal!
Nothing beats experience comon sense & comical sarcasm 👍 😂
Hi Scott, best content, best channel bar none. Good to see you back at it. See you when the next video drops.
I watched this again and it still hits!
Back when these cars were new, a salvage yard near my house rebuilt tons of these convertible GT's by combining front end wrecks and rear end wrecks. I could be wrong, but they were cutting them in half , under seats, and welding the 2 halves together and splicing the wiring and lines.
There was one local here in ms also, he may still do some. The cars looked good but don’t know how structurally sound they were.
@@slngblde I used to work next to a body shop who made his living doing the same to Escorts of all things. lol
@@slngblde They're death-traps (Cut & Shut's), as heaven forbid the 'rebuilt' car is in another crash, the 'zipper welding' is the weak spot and will crumble. Don't wanna be in that car! 😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫
@@astonman4 Just as strong a factory.
@@astonman4 if it’s done right it’s a strong repair on some cars. Guy I apprenticed under did hundreds over the years.
It always amazes me how you take something that I would say is just totaled junk and with not a lot of fanfare, and some really simple effort, bring it back from the dead!👍🏼👍🏼 well done sir. This will be a fun watch for me!😃
This is fairly complicated work. Not for beginners, that’s for sure! I worked in auto body for a couple decades, and most guys start on front end work. Some guys are never good enough to fix damage like this. You have to think, and reason your way through straightening the damage. If you can, you want to do your best to exactly REVERSE the direction of forces and stresses that occurred in the accident. Takes a lot of experience! Scott is a TRUE PRO!
You did some amazing work in the old shop. Can't wait for the new one!
Thanks, I’m trying!
Good to se you back in business Scott! And with another black Mustang GT vert! It's like deja vu all over again.
This is Craig from KC Missouri, I’m 57 and have been a “Mustang guy” since I bought my first Fox body in 1986 at 18 years old. The Mustang Fox body series you’ve been doing (this one and the other one you did a few months back) are an absolute TREAT to me! Thank you for saving (hopefully) another one, and I look forward to the forthcoming content!
Seems like the "old days." Glad to see you doing great body work, again!
Love seeing you in the shop doing a rebuild,I like this project.thanks John from Arizona
Did this kind of work for 30+ years. This is a great example of getting the body square again. Just the tip of the iceberg though, alot of work ahead. Wear leather gloves, sheet metal is sharp!
Glad you are rebuilding again
That was filmed before the fire, with the video edited after.
So glad to see you back doing what you do best Scott.
Another challenging rebuild for you! Great work so far!
Don’t change don’t let TH-cam ruin the last channel you can actually learn something
Sweet build Scott is the man!
Thanks for the support!
21:32 that impact cutter can be used to "hammer" dents and accordian, just take an old engine valve and use it instead of cutting end. I made an oval and straight one to use on metal. You can make it "hit harder" just by pushing it harder into metal, it still kicks the same but your pressure makes harder impacts on metal, try it :)
Awesome video as always! Helps to see the value of a frame rack. It shows me that without one, I best stay away from rear-end damaged vehicles when shopping around for a fixer-upper.
So good to see you repairing Cars on the Frame Rack again 👍
I don't know if you were ever one or not but I love the seasoned flat rate, no nonsense, emotionally-sedate approach.
Nice work. This is the way I was repairing these cars in ‘92…. When something is right, you just don’t need to change it. In the ‘90’s , the frame machine I was using was made in the 60’s. Some things were just made better! I’m sstill using that frame machine in my home shop
There's so many cheap Rag top stangs out there for sale that are half stripped you could pick up for a donor... Stoked to see this one come back to life!! I spent 8 years rebuilding mine lol.. she was also hit hard from the rear... I Love to drive it now!!
I had about 20 years ago a 92 LX hatch that when you closed the door it made that "click" sound like a Pinto did back in the day!
Brilliant video, I'm glad you are treating us to a repair video Scott, they are missed, ,,,
So great watching you work, once again. It's an absolute privilege!!!
Enjoyed that, good to see someone who knows engineering. UK
Always enjoy your vids. Thanks ! ! !
Great to see you back working on bodywork and showing how it’s supposed to be done❤
Meatloaf said it best,"Two outta Three ain't bad.",was once told as I climbed onto the top plate of a four foot ladder that it wasn't a step to which I replied it's also not a seat, let that brew for a bit, thought you were going to say two,two pony cars into one.. keep it up, really keep it up.
Nice to see you back in the shop, Scott. Especially nice to see the ol' frame rack again!
Glad to see ya back at work Scott, hope everything works out for you !
So good to see your back doing what you do best 😊
I'm glad to see some of your prior shop videos. Keep it coming, my friend!!! 👍
How I have missed the car off the trailer section of your videos. Thanks for another enjoyable video. Peace!
Happy days are hear again! Scott is repairing wrecks and it is Friday. Glad to see you back at it brother. 👏👏It would have been nice to see the frame measuring but that is just because never seen it in my life, wait I did see it once on YT so I am an expert, never mind then 🤣🤣
As a fond owner of a ‘90 Foxbody (base model) that I loved, thank you for bringing this car back to life. At least it is less problematic than my ‘74 Mercury Capri where the doors froze OPEN in cold weather.
You really can’t appreciate this video unless you’ve done bodywork yourself. This guy is amazing.
👍🏁👍
I’ve never done body work but did spend about a year doing mechanical work in a body shop. I enjoy watching these videos because I know how hard it is to get someone that does good work and can call out the hacks and haters so comically.
Scott nice to see a longer form video. I see you don't like Whale Tail spoilers (me too). Love the frame straightening videos. Thanks!
Here in Australia, that Mustang would be a Statutory Write-Off. That equates to a Parts Title or Certificate of Destruction over there in the US. Cars get totalled here for far less damage than that.
that's cuz your gov't hates you and wants you to broke always buying new cars.
Each state has different rules in the US. Also, you can "total" a car, but if you don't go through insurance, the title never changes, and the title will still be a standard clean title. If the insurance company deems a car as a total, then it gets a salvage title. Certificate of Destruction happens in situations, but I'm not familiar with them (doesn't happen in my state). Also cars get totaled for other reasons here, like not being able to obtain parts. That happened a lot with the parts supply chain issues going on. It might be a cheap repair, nothing major, but it gets totaled so the owner can move on quicker.
No more mad max😢
@@snoopdogie187in the case of my Buick that got totaled by my insurance company; since it was over a certain age and I decided to keep it instead of letting the insurance company take it, it kept its clean Tennessee title.
My 2014 Nissan Sentra was totaled by a Great Pyrenees dog. It didn't have that much body damage but the seat belt tensioners triggered and the driver's airbag went off. Estimates were about $3000 for the body damage and almost $4000 for the seat belts and the airbag.
Can you imagine if they made a small air chisel for the kitchen. You could 😮 open a can with it.....
Why would I need a smaller one? This one works fine in the kitchen. No stuck pickle jar lids in my house! 😂
@@vehcortwo fords!!!
Did that fire do something to you?
Hook an airline to your kitchen from garage and do it! They make small enough air chisels
Nah. TOO loud for the kitchen!
Scott, can you do a video explaining the hammering for stress relieving when pulling? I would like to see where you are hitting and understand a little more about how and why. Thanks!
GREAT VIDEO LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT ONE!!!!
Awesome video .GREAT to see you in the shop again.
I've found it helps to hammer the buckles on the quarter as youre pulling it. It just helps everything come out better. Looks good though.
Glad to see you back at it in the shop. Great video
Glad to see you back at the shop. Same crew? You and your team do great work. Looking forward to more videos.
Excited for another Mustang rebuild. I love these cars!
Back to doing what you do so well love it
Nice to see you doing this kind of work again!
As a Foxbody fanatic, i'm glad this one is being saved, Great Job.
A 93 black GT like that has always been my dream car. I remember drooling over it seeing one on Aerosmith's Crazy music video.
First 5.0 ive seen where it wasn't a front end smash that killed it!
My mother had a similar era convertible, a LeBaron. It was so weak and flexible I could see the steering wheel move side to side over railroad tracks, or potholes.
love the rebuilds, glad to see them back
Wow back to the routine that made you famous!! Good to see you doing body work again. I hope Mr Spotty is available as well as the supervisor and pizza lady. They may have gone into semi retirement. Thx!!!!
Nice to see a rebuild again!
when looking my friend said Pinch the oil dipstick, If sticky? its laced with Lucas or STP. then put a lighter to the oil, If it spits, It has coolant in it
Glad to see you back in the shop!
“..in case you forgot what size the engine is..”
The subtle shade of the Scott tree. 😏
Great post scott, nice to see you rebuilding again 👍
I was just thinking how I missed Scott's weekly releases on full rebuilds. Nice for him to be back.
Afternoon crew scream never gets old 😂
Nice,I’m sure Scott’s emporium has possibly one or two potential parts car’s maybe.great video as always just keep on doing what you do best.looks like whoever painted it,laid it on kinda thick, yes ,no.be safe.glad to see you working on a nice project car.you did sell the last convertible, did you not.kudos 😎😎😎👍👍👍
Good to see your back in the shop
welcome back.... nice to see you back in action
Great to see the body master back at work👍
Love what you do, glad you’re back in the garage, do you have a new garage yet.
Best to you
You just gave me motivation to work on my 89 Fox.
As an owner of a 91 convertible, the autopsy was very interesting to watch. Bring that Frankenstein back. 😀
So glad you’re back in the shop!!
good to see you back in action
Thanks Scott
Thanks for the video Scott.
So happy to see you back Scott. Keep on keeping on brother.
Back in the garage... AWESOME!!!
I like that crazy Saleen Wing on a hatchback!...It just screams big '80s and was actually a race proven design.
Hope you got it for a great deal and can fix it. Can't wait to see what you do with it. My In-laws have a 1987 Mustang LX 5.0 Convertible. All original, except a few tweaks to the motor and exhaust, with less than 70,000 miles. That thing will get sideways on you if you're not careful. Lol.
I'm not really a Mustang guy, but I am a suckered for 71-72 Mach I (the REAL Eleanor!)and the late fox body 5.0 GT (Convertible only). Fun car from days gone by, and if that is really 56K... I'm glad you are saving it. 80's and 90's lost a lot of cool cars to CASH 4 CLUNKERS. The only decades to have taken a major hit to future classics.
Love this channel and the videos.
are you back at the shop that burned down. I love your videos, humor and abilities thank you Scott
It’s nice to see how simple the foxbody mustang are.
Get in first time, wiggle shifter, press in clutch, wiggle shifter, doesn't start, start to get out, wiggle shifter, plug in (distributor?), get back in wiggle shifter. LOL I do the same whenever I get into a manual car, same as when you're at a light, parking, getting in, whatever lol.
Again Scott, you make it look so easy !
I've been binge watching "Mechanic Han" fix Chinese Nissans, he uses what I call a toffee hammer and the metal is tin foil thick and bends like lead.
Your darn good at what you do bud.
Happy to see you back in the shop agin . Always love seeing your rebuilds. Am curious aren’t parts going to be hard to find ? Looking forward to this rebuild 👍
