Hawk 250 Upgrades - Clutch and Brake Levers, Windshield and Top Speed Run

  • I've completed a few modifications on the Hawk 250 including a set of clutch and brake levers, an aftermarket windshield installation and then I managed to get in a top speed run. The Hawk will never be a bike made for the highway, but it's good enough for the occasional run. Below I have listed the links (Paid Amazon Links) to the clutch and brake levers and the windshield I used just in case you want to do the same.

    Everybody keeps saying "it's not a highway bike"
    I mean sure, I wouldn't do a cross country trip, but I'd have no qualms with a six hour ride. If you put a little money into a better carb, muffler, sprockets etc. and don't weight 250lbs you can get it up to around 75mph. That's the charm of this bike. It's for people that just want a bike to ride occasionally, or it's a very good modding platform for people who like to tinker and want a unique bike. I plan on modding it to squeeze all the performance I can out of a 250cc because that's the fun part. I also want a small displacement general purpose bike for street and trail, and with a little love this bike will make a great Jr adventure dual sport. You can get the bike for about $1,500 and by the time you have around $3,000 in it it'll be better than any used $3,000 bike in the 250cc range.

    Bought these levers for the DLX model - fits perfectly. Needed some adjustment to the clutch cable, but otherwise fine. Thanks for the tips

    Wow 70 or so. Not bad at all really for a cheap bike it will have to do. With cost of gas this bike is a wise alternative to driving my car

    I got them on and they work great with better feel. The clutch side needed grinding down like yours but the switch does line up. Probably because it's technically not the Hawk but Bashan BSR Enforcer they look the same.

    Thoughts on taller riders using the windscreen? I'm 6'4" and I'm wondering if there would be any buffeting at my height. Would you still recommend the wind screen for a commuter build?

    Hey, just got one of these bikes. I see the MadDog seat cover. Did you have to do any alterations to make it fit properly? The regular seat starts to hurt my bum after 50 miles.

    • @JackofAllMasterofNone
      @JackofAllMasterofNone  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. It fits and is a common "mod" for the Hawk. It still hurts my rear on long rides but is better than stock.

      I used a saw-blade knife to cut out some of the foam on my hawk's seat and the put the MadDog cover over it so it fit better.

    Was the engine upgrade you did earlier worth it? I never saw an update video on the performance increase/loss. Seemed like a lot of work. Hope you got some better torque/speed out of her! I have a 2021 xt250 EFI and I can get it up to 82mph at 145lbs 6ft tall.

    • @JackofAllMasterofNone
      @JackofAllMasterofNone  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did multiple videos on it. Overall it was a decent upgrade. Probably not worth the price to most people, but it was a fun project. Top speed is only around 72mph with my gearing. Plenty fast though.

    Funny thing is I don’t know why I don’t see a lot of modifications to these bikes I know there are 230 Engine the biggest you can go already installed but it you should have videos of people really modeling Bikes out to go 90 or 100 mph like they do scooters I’m trying to see if I really want to buy these bikes but it’s hard when they aren’t really are not a series modifications to these bikes videos particular

    I just ordered the gold levers for my tt250 but it's definitely thicker on the clutch side .. I haven't tried to put them on yet but I'm not sure if they will fit .. looks like definitely there will be a lot of grinding to be done . Any thoughts on this?

    • @JackofAllMasterofNone

    Not a bad top speed. I only weigh 110 soaking wet so I'm wondering if I can get mine a couple miles an hour faster. If I can hit 75 on flat, I'll be ecstatic. Saia LTL needs to stop playing with my heart and deliver the bike already. It's been a half hour away from me for the past 4 days.

      @JackofAllMasterofNone  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure how to answer this comment. It goes on just like the old one came off. May have to be adjusted at either end. It's a pretty universal process.

  • @gabrielpw
    @gabrielpw 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I was always told to start a bike holding the clutch anyways, then make sure I'm in neutral. So for that being the only issue on newer and better levers, I think that's a fair trade.
