    A good tip that will help with cutting the air box with a razor knife is to warm the blade up with a torch or lighter.

    To the ''handsome young man from Canada'' we see at first: man, your chain is much too tight! You will damage the bike running like this! :) This will prevent the suspension to work properly and you will end up with damaged bearings, hubs and cases.

    This is the only mod I haven't done to my WRs, purely out of concern for water getting into the airbox more easily. Realistically it's probably not a possibility, I'll probably end up doing it.

    5:00 Wear gloves, heat the blade, keep it
    pretty hot and it will cut easier.
    Sometimes on plastic like this a soldering iron
    comes in handy, you need a thin tip,
    but bear in mind it can easily make a mess,
    not something that will look factory-finished.

    Becareful having too many holes on your airbox, you mightbbe drawing in turbulent air which can cause irregular air intake especially at speed.

      its same airbox as YZ model would have but WR needed to be little more mellow, so they blocked the holes. Also for some of the WR they need to pass emissions, as they come street legal.

      how is the composition, angles, music, etc? (I enjoy your feedback) :)

    • @NirHason
      @NirHason 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was smooth for my brain for 99% of the time so that's good. the 1% is that the scene lightning can be better, it's not something major because all of the necessary objects are bright enough but it makes me feel that the room is narrow (which I believe is not that far from reality) . With the right light you can fool the viewer mind and makes the brain thinks that it's more spacey. Less dark parts in the scene makes the video looks more relax and even more professional.
      I think you can use some softbox (goo.gl/CuX3Vn) with warm/cold light to light the background and one to light the front of the scene (where you're standing).
      That way you'll create more depth in the frame :)
      BTW - did you used the zoom lens?
      I talking a lot and actually all my videos are crap since I don't have enough time to actually film multi angles and edit it afterwards.
      So I really appreciate your effort when making those videos!! :)
      If something is not clear let me know and I'll try to help you more (maybe via FB).

    • @dirtniron
      @dirtniron  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thanks for the feedback Nir, yes I am using zoom lens, cant use 50mm for these kind of shots.
      I was thinking about getting some softboxes .. lets see how many tshirts can I sell this month, maybe I will invest a bit into the gear. I was thinking to get new zoom lens I like STM lenses, they focus well and dont make noise, maybe I can just leave it on face recognition focus all the time.. right now I focus manually and change it each time I change the angle, it takes time specially if you are one man show. We can chat more, I can always use good advice, thanks bro!

    After what I can see with this modification together with different jetting and less restricted exhaust you go from the "official" 42hp at the crank you pay tax for in Norway to 44-48 hp at the rear wheel which is about 50 - 55hp at the crank roughly. Seems most of the road legal dirtbikes have similar gains from doing thees kinds of mod as they are all very restricted to fill noice, emmisions or hp restriction demands from authorities.

    Can we not say at least that there is one drawback to an air box modification, which is that carburation is less stable when a gear is not engaged or while waiting at a trafic lights (street legalized dirt bike), hence sometimes using more fuel on these moments ? Thanks for your advice.

    • @dirtniron

      Thanks. I drove 180 miles 2 weeks ago with my second-hand 2003 crf450r on normal French roads in one single sunny day, i had an appointment somewhere, and in the end i was satisfied with the bike and the gas mileage was normal and fairly stable carburation. Although for regular use i'd go for a less performant bike, for environmental reasons. I don't mind to be patient on a slower bike and use less petrol every time i can.

      so far I am impressed by WR450, honestly first i just wanted to flip her but after few rides I decided to keep her, at least for now. Love gearbox, suspension, engine too, plus I am currently working on few mods so it should be running even better. I would love to have a chance to do some riding on 450exc so I can compare it. I rode husky 350te and can see big difference, specially in a weight. WR450 has a lot of power and feels more planted than the husky.. but again it all depends what kind of riding you do, probably wr450 would not be my pick for gnarly single track.. I still need to ride more to have better feel for the bike, for now I am very impressed how this 14 years old bike runs!

    Unless you know more than engineers that made the bike don't cut your air box!!! yes take out the silencer snorkel but if you valve your bike don''t don't don't cut your air box you are asking for problems.My bike had the holes cut out and it ran like crap. I closed them back up and presto better performance

      sorry, but thats not correct, you seem to be little afraid of jetting.. yes, if you open the airbox your bike will logically have more air and run lean, thats why you need to re-jet the carburetor, its really not that hard to do it and the results are great.. average technical guy can do it no problem, bunch of videos online, on my channel as well.. the only reason for that airbox to be closed is to pass the emissions, definitely not to make bike run better

    I realize this is an older vid, but if you see this question, please advise. I am hearing that if you do this mod that there may be a need to re-jet the carburetor. Did you ever find this to be the case? Thanks

      I would recommend to rejet it anyway, stock jetting is too lean. I did all the free mods and got jd jetting kit and the bike runs absolutely amazing. I have videos showing it all, just search my channel. Have fun

    If your doing hard enduro don't do this they're not trying to restrict the engine they're trying to keep dirt ab water out of the give I've had my wr under water up to the seat if I did this it would of drowned the engine
