The Y Is not a competitor to the Gravity. Like he says multiple times they are going after the Escalade and similar large SUV market. Lifting the Model 3 and making the Y is what gives Tesla the highest margins of any automotive manufacturer.
Comments like these are by and for people who can't handle the fact that a powerful person in America won't parrot the nouveau polit views being crammed down from their leaders in the media, Hollywood, etc.
I like the direction Lucid went with Gravity. I hope the ~120kw pack is big enough for world leading highway range and it has interior room like an Air on steroids. The comments from Derek and Eric are encouraging for Lucid’s future. The Gravity really needs to undisputed SUV range king by a wide margin over the competition. If it has the loads of extra space, utility and functionality Eric talked up, they will sell. It's going to be more expensive than the alternatives, so it needs to be better in all the fundamentals to succeed. He mentioned interior space comparable to an Escalade, I'm very curious to see and sit in one. This is a segment Lucid absolutely needs to be in. I'm looking forward to Kyle range testing one of these in the real world.
Looks like the Gravity is going to be a winner, although I'm sure not everyone will need 3 rows of seats. Hopefully Lucid will offer a 2 row SUV version.

Oh my boy I just thought Kia EV9 is their biggest competitor! Nice Test Setup is upcoming maybe throw in a Model X, Rivian R1S, some other similar ones
Wow, the Lucid Gravity will be a hot selling car, they designed it right for the intended market. Hopefully they designed it correctly to be manufacturable and can produce it with quality as well. Very visionary and intense thought-out car. Lucid IMO, has the world's best car design team right now of all car manufacturers and with the recent $1.5 billion dollars of Saudi investment money, this should be enough to break Lucid into the big time to make it a viable company.
The photos of the Gravity have really done a disservice to the vehicle. It had that mid 2000’s Mercedes suv that was sort of Van like as well. But this video just shows how amazing the designers are at lucid.
I don't like that minivans died out in popularity in America. The sliding door is a big advantage for unloading people and things in a parked space. With an all-electric powertrain like Lucid has, you could get excellent range and performance. Toyota makes a great hybrid minivan but it's not plug-in like their Prius, so you can't recharge it at home and you still have to buy gas for short trips around town.
@@Harrythehun I love the look of the ID Buzz, but the range and efficiency is not very good. As a family car, I need a long range people hauler for cross-country trips.
Minivans are fantastic.. but the thing is, they're also really heavy. The Vanagons and K-Car-based Caravan are distant memories, and now every minivan is basically maxing out the payload on the platforms on which they're constructed. Those two huge openings for sliding doors on both sides mean more reinforcement for roof strength. This means we need some heavy duty EV platforms on which to build an EV minivan. VW is having a ton of issues making what's a relatively small (by modern standards) minivan for the North American market. The Japanese brands are all still building tiny EV platforms. Toyota's large vehicle hybrids are even still mostly weak hybrids. They're having trouble scaling their small vehicle tech up to American-sized large family vehicles. Tesla, Lucid, Rivian, and even Hyundai/KIA are moving in the large direction faster than anyone because they're not afraid to start from scratch and scale up signficantly.
Lucid is someway often owerlooked, impressive tech. Would like a smaller model for EU. Good point with the Cw, so many reviews where the say " it has a low Cw though its a big car"
Thank you, Kyle, and thank you, Lucid. In 2 years, when I turn in my Mach-E, I want to replace it and our Pacifica Hybrid with a single EV that can comfortably seat 5-6 full-sized adults. I thought the EV9 and its siblings were going to be my only choice. This suddenly opens up my options.
Hmmmm... I thought... Lucid Gravity is expected to continue the legacy of Lucid Air, the first electric sedan from Lucid Motors which successfully won various awards for its battery technology, range and extraordinary performance. On the road to the launch of the Gravity, Lucid Motors is focusing on further improvements in terms of energy efficiency and range, with the aim of making the Gravity the world's longest-range electric SUV 🥇🇮🇩❤😘🥰
A nice looking family hauler, I would like to see a comparison with Volvo's EX90 whenever that comes out, and VW ID Buzz (same sentiment about its release) even though it's a van but a seven-seater EV as well.
Cut the minivan crap, when you offer so much space, it can't be shaped like a Ferrari. In this form factor, it's freaking gorgeous compared to "regular minivans"

@@shou635you nailed it. LUCID FANS throw shade at everyone, including Rawlingson. The “Taking the crown” comment was dumb. The LUCID on the hood was a terrible design solution. The world would be boring if it were only teslas. LUCIDs biggest problem is autonomy. Nothing says luxury if there is no autonomous decision. LUCID will die if they don’t have a driverless solution.
Absolutely love the gravity. Did they say anything about expanding their service operations? That’s the only thing that would prevent me from buying one because I live in the Midwest.
Kyle, thanks for the review. Once you get your hands on a testable unit, can you please review a heads-up display? I understand Gravity (contrary to Air) will finally have one. It's my absolute must, can forgive a lot of stuff to a car for a great HUD (full color, augmented reality, ideally showing CarPlay / Android Auto maps as well). For this reason, Tesla / Lucid were never an option for me (drive EQS now), and hopefully this changes with Gravity.
For me it is the coolest ev SUV ever. Only desing issue I can see is both brake calipers facing to the back. That can disturb the stability of vehicle on heavy braking.
I'm thinking about this too but the Supercharger network 🤔 how much are you paying usually? And the Tesla Theater 🎭 mode. I haven't decided which too get between Lucid Gravity & Tesla X.
@@GenieFarmsI charge exclusive at home since I get a monthly rebate from my utility co for charging off-peak… theatre mode is pointless because I can’t for example side load android apps to run third party streaming apps.

let's be real here. even if it was a station wagon, it's not like this looks like the ones from the 1980s. station wagons don't have that stigma that they used to. they can be attractive and more practical than sedan counterparts.
When the bottom edge of the windshield pretty much lines up with the top of the wheel well arch, you end up with a homely looking car. “Tough SUV face” lol. This thing needed to have style like a Range Rover, but it ended up with the silhouette of a Kia Carnival.
I love everything they have done, BUT Unless they price it like a Minivan $50-$60k it will get some sales but nothing to save the company. They will then be like Rivian waiting for their compact to save them in 2 years time. Top spec Honda Odyssey is $46K & lease at $570. This is NOT going to pull Large SUV gas V8 owners into this segment or pull mid size $30-40k gas SUV's up to $80k-$115K. It's not happening regardless of how good the Tech is and the looks. It will be nice but too expensive. Like the Air Grand Touring you will pick up a used Gravity for $50-$70k in 2 years. If you want to over pay by $20k -$55K this will be for you. Lucid don't care if you lose money that fast, All cars depreciate, But when its initially over priced you setting yourself up for a lot more deprecation, Sadly These cars are not being designed and priced for the average consumer.

I don’t think I can handle that beltline. It’s so high! The windows are little slits. Glad everyone else loves it though. I really want this thing to be a hit.
Great interviews Kyle. Minor quibble with the Lucid folks: let us see inside.
The car looks fantastic!!
Lucid Gravity Beautiful 😊
Tesla fanboys always spread hate on Lucid, ignore them, this SUV is fabulous- small footprint, best space, efficiency, handling, huge frunk, looks fantastic- what is their not to like???
Lol Lucid is highly unlikely to survive. Nothing have to do with fanboy.
You don't have to be a fanatic to appreciate Tesla. They are the dominant leader in the EV market for very good reason.
I often see fanboys of other brands like Rivian and lucid, crap on Tesla.
@@shou635you nailed it. LUCID FANS throw shade at everyone, including Rawlingson. The “Taking the crown” comment was dumb. The LUCID on the hood was a terrible design solution. Still feels like a Hyundai.
I wish them luck but LUCID is notorious for complexity and not being able to remove it. Without the Saudis, they would be Fisker, dead.
Hopefully they survive. The world would be boring if it were only teslas. LUCIDs biggest problem is autonomy. Nothing says luxury if there is no autonomous decision. LUCID will die if they don’t have a driverless solution.
@@nguyep4lol such a hater !!! I bet you are a Tesla driver who is obsessed with Elon.
The peak shaving feature has me sold
Best looking minivan I’ve seen in a long time… might have to snap one up!
excellent podcast, drive safely buddy
3 15amp circuits is impressive!
Personally, I would much rather have a 240 volt option and give up one of those circuits.
Absolutely love the gravity. Did they say anything about expanding their service operations? That’s the only thing that would prevent me from buying one because I live in the Midwest.
I'm jealous Kyle!
Kyle has leveled up!
To me the best 3 row is the traverse. Very usable 3rd row. The gravity seems to be the closest to that with and almost identical wheelbase and width.
this car looks soo good man
Out od spec dave already bought a gravity in his dreams and sold it
Love it! Camp mode? Dog mode?
Absolutely beautiful Styling is perfect
The video guy👌🏽sharp in shooting 😉 I see what you did there with the cool vehicle driving by. Nice 1.😎
For me it is the coolest ev SUV ever. Only desing issue I can see is both brake calipers facing to the back. That can disturb the stability of vehicle on heavy braking.
Patiently waiting for this vehicle. My 23 model X feels so dated to me
I'm thinking about this too but the Supercharger network 🤔 how much are you paying usually? And the Tesla Theater 🎭 mode. I haven't decided which too get between Lucid Gravity & Tesla X.
@@GenieFarmsI charge exclusive at home since I get a monthly rebate from my utility co for charging off-peak… theatre mode is pointless because I can’t for example side load android apps to run third party streaming apps.
oh let me not even talk about the X third row… middle schoolers legs have no room because the legs aren’t long enough to get under the middle row… and they can’t see over the 2nd row to watch the tiny screen during road trips
Gravity all the way .
Come on --100 thousand dollar- STATION WAGON!
Who cares dude, stop hating on Lucid, you have been doing this for the past 5 years, go get a life excreta sailor....
let's be real here. even if it was a station wagon, it's not like this looks like the ones from the 1980s. station wagons don't have that stigma that they used to. they can be attractive and more practical than sedan counterparts.
Come on - 200 thousand dollar Tonka toys! Such as the G wagon.... To reach their own....
In Asia they have $100,000 vans... Since space efficiency is apparently a virtue not a vice in that part of the world.
Nice Nice Nice
When the bottom edge of the windshield pretty much lines up with the top of the wheel well arch, you end up with a homely looking car. “Tough SUV face” lol. This thing needed to have style like a Range Rover, but it ended up with the silhouette of a Kia Carnival.
the best of everything
Fantastic video
Gorgeous car~!!!
I cant wait to get one
No hoodie is the best!
Not sure if you read these comments, but I yelled “hi Kyle!” at some point in this video. Somehow didn’t realize you were recording, apologies!
Kyle,
Great Interviews! Do you think there might be a Gravity Sapphire at some point?
will it be available with 5 seat only (no need for 7, need bigger boot space) thx for the video
Like to hear them geeking out about an awesome car.
