Yes, especially legacy carmakers can learn alot from Lucid's tech to improve their own EV models
Their CEO literally said their bottom end goal is a $50k car. Beyond that they’ll “license their technology” to other OEMs. That won’t change the fact that nothing lucid sells is profitable.
They really need to make these cars under $45k usd

With such great technology and efficiency, Lucid should immediately look into the space of 25k EV segment, and put pressure on the market leader in term of technology and cost efficiency. Not to mention majority of people are seeing self-driving a leap and more beneficial than 0-60miles in less than 2 secs. Look forward to your new car when it becomes available.
I appreciate lucid's design and technology so much I really wish I could be a customer right now. I suppose I'll be able to afford a mildly used one in a few years.

I own and drive 2 Tesla Model Y's and will sell them in a New York minute, to buy the midsize Lucid SUV as I fully support Lucid, I'm just not in the large sedan or large SUV market. I REALLY hope Lucid skips the small, Model 3-sedan type, and go straight to a small hatchback, after they release their midsized SUV. Go LUCID!!!

@@manuelbarreto7032 I like Peter. He's an excellent engineer, but he didn't build Tesla. It took many good people in key roles (especially the leader) to do that. The Model S was an important step, but it wasn't the key to the juggernaut Tesla is today. The high volume vehicles were a much more critical and difficult step.
From looks of that silhouette I'm pre-ordering Day 1.

Dear Lucid: Please make a Gravity with cost-conscious and ruggedized interior materials, and no price-hiking luxury features. You'll have the world's greatest outdoor rec/weekend warrior vehicle.
This WILL happen over time, Peter did say they would use the more cost effective and efficient new ATLAS drive unit in future Gravity and Air models, but don't expect it right away.
Key point, all the “cost” figures are materials only, not production cost. Major and international omission.

I prefer my Taycan Turbo over a Lucid because of: coasting mode, instead of permanent recuperation of the Lucid. I also prefer the air suspension, rear wheel steering, chassis roll control, head up display with "innodrive" and the (leather) build quality. All these are more important to me than the efficiency.
As always, Peter delivers good, in-depth technology insight. I can't wait for this company to grow.

Could you use all that tech to offer a light interior color for the Lucid Air rather than the mismatched seat mess you are currently offering where no matter what interior color you select the front seats are always black? Would love to order a Lucid Air with a white or light colored interior, including the seats in the front. I wanted to buy a Lucid Air but bought a Model S Performance because I can't stand dark interiors. Its so arrogant to expect all your customers to like black interiors up front.

Nice PR !! but realistically, these vehicles will be out of most families' budgets. Kia / Hyundai and a few others will be the only affordable quality built options. Tesla hasn't been able to make a quality built vehicle. The tech is great, but you sacrifice quality. If Lucid could build a 3 row suv for 50 to 60k range, they'd be a great option for the average family.

depends which graph you are loooking at. When talking about the german charging curve, it was definitely porsche. The other german company on the range graph was more than likely mercades EQS or something similar.

I suggest Lucid stop wasting money on maxing mileage. Anyone who can afford a Lucid has a house and can charge every night. More mileage targets people who can’t charge everyday which means they don’t own a home. If they can’t afford a home, they can’t afford a Lucid.

Lots of talk about lowering costs. But, unlike Lucids, talk is cheap. Tesla got away with taking forever to lower costs cuz they were the only EV manufacturer in the US for nearly 10 years. Lucid can't afford the luxury, quite literally.

I just hope the Gravity has better road noise insulation than the Air. In the Air rear seat passengers (at highway speeds on rougher asphalt) cannot clearly hear what front seat passengers are saying.
I also wish they could copy the Tesla Model X in their placement of Sun visors. I would love that open expansive feeling. Also, the A-pillars should be slimmer for better visibility.
Agreed on the sunvisors, similarly, I would’ve actually preferred the 34 inch display to be a bit lower. when you’re driving the X it really feels like you’re flying in the road. There’s no obstructions to your view, with the heads up display, it would’ve been amazing to have that similar low hood.
But the worst part of the sunvisors, which inhibit that expense from the glass.
Its the glass roof. Have you been in the base model? Much quieter with solid roof.

The Tesla Model 3 long range has an efficiency of 5.5 mile/kwh. Why was that left off every slide and how is Lucid the leader in efficiency?
Because Model 3 is not in the same league, thats like comparing the economy of a Rolls Royce with a Mini

@@tbcPollux Small cars are inherently more efficient than larger ones, it has nothing to do with technology.
BTW, the carbon fibre wrapped rotor would be Tesla's Plaid. That wrap increases the air gap between rotor & stator which has negative effects on efficiency.
Where did you come up with that number from? They get about 4 miles per kWh
edit: quote from a headline but... I was overstating it slightly:
"2024 Tesla Model 3 Gets Outstanding 3.9 Miles/kWh EPA Energy Consumption"
That EPA rating is where the Lucid gets 5, just over 25% better.

@oscarmico3353 do the math. 75kw or 82kw (usable capacity is 75kw for this example, 341 or 363 miles for 24 Tesla M3 LR. 363/82=4.427 kw per mile. Unsurprisingly, less efficiency than the top spec of Lucid cars because of the price range difference. Also, Tesla overestimates their range, and I don't believe Lucid does to the extent of Tesla.
When solid state batteries hit the market, Lucids main USP goes out of the window. Every other manufacturer will have 500M plus range. So then can Lucid be a good business?
Lucid can adapt solid state and still keep it ahead of the pack
@peterpet77rp as a business, Lucid is a solid F grade. They are ahead of the pack but that won't do anything for their company. Best is for Peter to give way to a solid CEO and CFO who can give this company a come back.

My one complaint about the lucid air is the extremely thin paint so surprised to hear you brag about the painting process. It underperforms the competitors. We also have a bmw which has much better and thicker paint.
I would take a Nio any day! 200 miles in 12 minutes? Nio offers over 500 miles in 2.5 minutes.
