Yeah I had a ton of people ask me about it, I think this k swap is a good in-between build where it isn't ultra cheap but not crazy expensive, for a 2j swap it's like $6k for just the engine
100% I wanted to do the swap because I thought it was cool and realized there wasn't a ton of information on it! Thank you for your continued support!🙂
Thank you for the kind words! That's awesome man K swap makes a ton of sense for the s13! Good luck with the build, if you have any questions hit me up🤟🏻
Thank you so much for the kind words! I've had a ton of fun, it's helped a ton with the confidence of car builds, I learned a ton and met a bunch of really awesome people!🙂
Hahaha thanks man😂 yeah they are actually really expensive here too, I would have kept my m42 but it was very loved, had 280k miles on it, so I sold it to complete someone else's 318is!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you are enjoying the vacay! There will probably be a pre Dyno video, then Dyno then full ripping! Just have to save up a bit!
In the description I put ** next to everything that is transmission related parts😊 I hope this helped, it will have the link next to them, if you call the guys at tf works they are also very helpful
what would the total price be including the tools needed for this job? Im a technician but never actually did a job outside my shop since I don’t have a garage and have never modded my daily!
It really depends on what type of tools you have or not, only big expense tool wise, would be the welder that I used for the exhaust and the engine hoist, everything else was regular socket sets and wrenches
Love modifying cars, but don't think I'll ever go crazy again. This build is SO NICE, however, the value of the car against a stock e30 hasn't increased that much - if at all. Not a problem if you never intend on selling it, things are worth as much as someone thinks it's worth and you obviously thought it was worth that because you put the money into it, but if you ever wanted to make moves to get into something else you'll get hosed unless you find a dude as crazy as you were and is also willing to spend all that money doing the swap himself and see's your build more as cost savings than objective value.
I totally understand where you are coming from in terms of if I will ever see this money again, I don't ever plan to sell this car and I've known that from the start, but the reason why I'm building this car is for the experience and for the hobby of it! I'm also able to make money from the TH-cam channel and get some of that back. I treat this as my hobby and job so it makes sense for me🙂
Awesome info to have! I saw the title and thought you had 22k into the swap and was like oh god what I am I getting myself into lmao. That's better knowing you were 10-11k deep. I've got a spreadsheet put together and was hoping to be under $15k when all was said and done. I'll have to go through the video again and add some pieces to the spreadsheet thanks to this vid. Also, do you have a video on the electric power steering setup yet and are you running a/c? Thanks!
I'm glad the video will be helpful! I tried to make sure I got everything! You can easily be under that $10k too, there are sometimes people parting out their build or deals on products! I haven't gotten the power steering fully hooked up yet, I was really focused on the swap that I haven't fully dove into the power steering, and I'm not running a/c but I know that k power does have an a/c kit, I don't know if it clears the tf works oil pan though if that's what you have
@@ProjectRacecar2 yeah I need to check out the for sale sections more often! I've had some home projects eating up my spare time and swap budget, so I am hoping to start piecing things together in fall. I've been looking at going with kpower for most of the big pieces. Their oil pan will clear the stock ac location, would just need to go with electric p/s to relocate it and run both. And for sure, makes sense to get it running first before worrying about other pieces like that, just making sure I didnt miss it haha. Cant wait to see it running!
Yeah that's for sure worth it! And yeah I wouldn't rush the build at all! The main reason why I went with tf works oil pan is because of the oil drain bung already welded in! I need to make a video on getting it Dyno ready and then actually on the Dyno! So we are making some moves to get it driving! Let me know if you have any other questions🤟🏻
If I'm not mistaken I used the e30 inner and outer, there should be a write up, if not I posted a video on the z3 rack that should have the information in there🤟🏻
@@ProjectRacecar2 watched the z3 rack vid. You talked about the tie rods but you did not specify specifically which ones. Just said new tie rods. I would assume e30
Hey man, not currently, but I know that k power industries has an a/c solution, if you want to hit them up, they have a ton of really good parts for the rwd k series
The tf works oil pan has a turbo drain line already welded in, and I'll be going turbo in the future so it made sense for me, I made a good amount of purchases with k Miata as well, both are great companies!
NA it should be 215 HP and with a turbo 58/58 turbo on 12 psi it should be 400-450HP it redlines at 8600 rpm but the most important thing is it's lightweight and sits far back in the engine bay
The seats have held up really well! I've been really happy with the quality of them, but I think I'm going to keep the door panels the way they are, I thought about adding some tan leather but I think it looks good all black, what are your thoughts?
I know it feels a bit backwards, I'm working with a tuner now, I need to get a few things settled before the Dyno tuning which is all it needs to get driving, and since the tuning prices vary so much I decided to not include it, if you do it yourself it's free however some people charge per hour or by a flat fee so it differs, but there will be a Dyno video then driving very soon!
Bro it adds up really quick😬 It is always nice when it's done and you don't have to spend much money any more! But its totally worth it! Is the s13 finished?
I think it's always really important to talk about the costs of builds, well done man!
Yeah I had a ton of people ask me about it, I think this k swap is a good in-between build where it isn't ultra cheap but not crazy expensive, for a 2j swap it's like $6k for just the engine
It's wild how fast everything adds up, awesome video man! Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the support man! It is super crazy to see how fast it all adds up, I think you could save a lot of money though from this number
The only thing that rivals an e30 is another e30. Ryan, you did the swap for the right reason.....personal satisfaction.
100% I wanted to do the swap because I thought it was cool and realized there wasn't a ton of information on it! Thank you for your continued support!🙂
Can't wait to hear this thing after the tune. Congrats on a great build bro
Thanks man!
thank you for the video I'm in the process of k swapping my s13, love your car man!

Solid video man! the channel has grown a ton! Keep going! Can't wait to see the dyno!
Yeah I'm trying to work on getting the car ready! But thanks man! I know the the recent videos have been doing really well!
You’re like the Bob Ross of E30 swaps. Those 318is are pretty expensive in Germany
Hahaha thanks man😂 yeah they are actually really expensive here too, I would have kept my m42 but it was very loved, had 280k miles on it, so I sold it to complete someone else's 318is!
Amazing Project and thank you for being Transparent with everything
Thank you for the support!! There isn't a ton of information on the k swaps into the e30 so I figured I wanted to be as up front as possible!
The Stash is looking mighty my dude 🤙🏽🔥
Thanks bro!! I have since shaved it but I gotta switch it up from time to time😂🤟🏻
Late to the video cause I’m on vacation! Good stuff though. Let’s see the power after it’s tuned!

Worth every penny in the end 😄👍
Absolutely, I wouldn't change it at all, I think if you end with a running car it's always worth the money and energy 🤟🏻

I literally was typing this exact question when I saw this.

Curious as why you went with the tf swap kit vs the k miata kit?

Of course! Both kits are great!
I think matching would be what I would do . Maybe order from l seat or Match with vinyl material more forgiving
For sure that was my original thought, I'll for sure keep that in thought now that the engine swap is done!🤟🏻🙂
Love the vids can’t wait to see u rip it 👍🏽
