I love it when you guys go all out and really clean and paint / coat the new parts. If you're going to put that much work and time into it you might as well! great job beautiful car!
ECS is great! Especially when you have all the time in the world to wait for parts and don't expect them to arrive soon, or in a timely manner... what-so-ever! I'm pretty sure they wait (potentially several days) until the truck at the warehouse is full before it gets picked up by the carrier to get shipped out. Up until about 2010 orders would ship out same day or next day, after about 2013 they got really bad with shipping and most orders don't even leave the warehouse for about 4 or 5 days, that doesn't even include the actual shipping time! The upside is they have a great catalog of parts with many options for a lot of European cars and pretty competitive pricing.
Yeah, ECS is great, when their great. But they do constantly drop the ball. They LOVE to say things are in stock when they aren't, and their customer service is terrible. I won't buy anything with them ever again after my last experience. they say a part was in stock, so we ordered a part for a customer's car. The part never arrived. We contacted customer service countless times. They always said it would be shipping out in the next day or 2, which never happened. After a couple weeks, we ended up ordering the same part from FCP Euro. They had it shipped out the next day for us. After the part arrived from FCP, and we got the part installed and the car back to the customer, we tried cancelling the order with ECS. They refused to cancel the order. They said the order was already sent to their vendor and they couldn't cancel it. But if it was "in stock" like they said, why did it have to be ordered from a vendor? Got a "manager" on the phone (probably wasn't actually a manager) and he basically told us to go pound sand and we couldn't cancel the order. Had to contact my credit card company and file a charge back for it in order to get my money back. We use to spend lots of money with them for customers. Although we had a few hiccups with them before, and with their "in stock" items not actually being in stock, that was the last straw and we won't do business with them again after that.
@@BillDerr Similar experiences, which is why I shop elsewhere first (usually FCP or Eurotuning) and only use ECS if it's the last and only place available. You're experience was likely of many others and mine, where they drop ship items from another warehouse or vendor that was supposed to have it in stock but was extremely lazy and terrible with inventory. I ordered a part for my Audi S4 that they drop ship from 034 Motorsports, said it was in stock online when every other retailer was on back order. I even called to confirm with someone that it was in stock before placing the order. After placing the order and waiting several days and not shipping out, I follow-up only for them to say that it not only wasn't in stock and they knew it, they fessed up and said they were taking orders so they could forward them to 034 until there was enough demand in quantity for 034 to make more. Which by the way, took a few months of waiting! By that time, the other places already had it back in stock and available. After that I REFUSE to order from ECS unless I'm absolutely desperate!
Since 2010 or earlier, I frequently purchased parts and maintenance items for my B5 S4 through ECS. The only issue I ever had was the whoa! that's a lot of airbag packaging material.
That's cuz most of the time they don't even have the parts on hand. I know this cuz I live about 2 hours from them. They literally admitted it after they realized they couldn't blame it on a shipping issue
To each his own I guess. While it definitely needed more tire to handle the extra power, I would have tried to be much more subtle. I am NOT a fan of oversized wheels/tires extending past the bodywork. I also think something more like the original wheels would have looked better. The new ones are weird. But I love the E30 - I had an early one myself some 30 years ago, and of the 25 or so cars I have owned in my life, it's the one I miss the most.

Had to contact my credit card company and file a charge back for it in order to get my money back. We use to spend lots of money with them for customers. Although we had a few hiccups with them before, and with their "in stock" items not actually being in stock, that was the last straw and we won't do business with them again after that.
ECS fucking sucks and so does their customer support. I’ll never spend another dollar with that company
12:00 being about to rub your finger across the underside of a 30 year old car and it be clean is one of the biggest flexes ive ever seen
YEEEEAAAAHH, Chris, you a legend for helping James like that, AND becoming his friend.
One of the most gorgeous E30s I've seen, along with MCM's LS swapped one. The wheels are *chef's kiss*
Oh man! Now that is a sick build. So happy for James. I don't think anyone is more responsible for getting viewers to this channel than he is. His energy and the way he makes everything fun and funny got me here. Since the beginning I have been rooting for James. So happy he got to build his BM. Once sick ride man. Congrats.
My 318is E36 is gonna need "The Castro Treatment". All the little reconditioned fasteners he's got will be my #1 focus. I'm in Wartburg, maybe I'll catch James in Kentucky sometime in the future.
More episodes of DONUT employee's rides, officially requested!
Drove a Wartburg when I was 18, such a silly car.
That's a true friend, He lets you pick out the brake line you want then tells you that you picked the wrong one.
Your passion is legendary. You bring good people and good things together and make this channel one of the best spots on TH-cam. It's not just that you deserve this car and community, you've literally and figuratively built it!! Absolutely grateful to see this journey and be able to share in this experience!
I just love how humble James is. Dude just gets in there helps, learns, and even takes direction. Good dude.
Seriously dude, absolutely 0 ego he just wants to help and learn
I worked at ground control for a summer, and I helped manufacturer this part before it got out on the market. Ground control was a fun place to work, and I learned a ton about suspension tuning and modification.
Castro did another banger! But the old BBS rims look way better.
I liked this video at precisely 0:59 intro was enough to tell that this video is sick af.
Really, really enjoyed this
Video James! Love your excitement!
This was so awesome! I am in the middle of swapping in a M54B30 with extremely similar vision James had for this e30. Whereas I don’t have the means to go to this extreme of detail atm, it is great to hear “it’s okay to take a good thing and start over.” This is my 3rd e30 on the road and it will be so worth it, anticipation is max high after watching this.
27:16 is awesome!
I don't like BMW at all and never will but somehow james and his passion for this car kinda opens me up to wanting a new headache 🤕😂
It's so satisfying to take old stuff off that might deteriorate past conditions of use, and just updating and restoring the car back to its former self. My friends tell me I restore old cars I tell him know I just preserve their lives
13:36 that's Travis Scotts bmw right there in the blue
All that work and he didn't change out the dang blinker fluid. Oversight of the year
Hey! That’s the guy from SPEEED !!!
I just got my first car, I’ve never felt so connected to a hunk of metal in my life
Wait for your second one, you'll love it but it will dry your pockets. The third one is always the charmer, you know better and you go for what you want
@@juanvids This couldn't be more spot on, on my third right now :D
@@sirmounted8499 hehe i'm on my 3rd one as well.
1st was a 98 Toyota Corolla VE, 2nd 81 E21 BMW (carbed M20) and my 3rd a preserved 93 HondaAccord EX which i'm hoping to get Antique plates for in a year or 2.
Wow! So true and I'm on my 3rd one now which happens to be an E21!
1st was a Seat ibiza 2.0 swap & 2nd a Fiat cinquecento 😎
Btw it’s a 2024 Honda Civic Sport in “sonic gray pearl”
Insanely clean and tasteful e30 build. Bravo James.
One of the first cars I Learned to drive was a e30. I’m a e46 touring owner now, but I will always love these rides.
What a great video! Loved every minute except for maybe that spooky glitch toward the end
"Now we put our shafts together and we're done"💀 19:52
Congrats James, the car looks sick! Where is the noise though, we got 30 seconds of driving, best be more content in the works
James really got Donut to build him his ultimate dream car, then disappeared just like his dad…
Casual cactus jack e30 in the back the whole time lololol
I love watching stuff like this. It really highlights how much work goes into what putting a car together looks like. I already had a lot of respect for friends who do stuff like this but it's ways surprising seeing it.
last james video should have been a UP TO SPEED ! never will forgive you for that
This is his last up to speeed on his car and if you watched the new speeed video he mentions he had a 3 series I guess it's full circle build
I cried when I saw that saw being taken to the CSL intake...😭
The first minutes of this video gave me those Bumper to Bumper vibes back. James is simple awesome at car story telling man. We want it back
BRING BACK MONEY PIT!
What happened to the wheels? 💀💀
My first thought, the grey bbs ones were the best
The bbs wheels were SO much cooler!
I can only imagine how satisfying it must be to take something you've loved essentially your whole life, make it as good as it can be and totally to your own spec. Love that.
21:51 DAT WHEEL THO
Bro watched 22 minutes in 3 mins
@@marnidy Thank you
Get Chris on to react with Angie or Sandro

Wait Chris Castro? That’s my name
I feel like this videos timing lines up well with him leaving donut ...
Y'all always giving love to all these 3rd parties and I think that's amazing for the auto scene! Thank you for making all of these videos and working with so many great professionals! Hope they all see success from doing these videos too!
We miss you James😔
he made a new channel called speeed
Is this the last time we’ve seen James?
Yes sad😢
thats why he only had 5 days
Speeed
Here to see James! He's been missed by us all. Sending love to ya James
If you guys haven’t figured it out this entire video is both financing his dream car and also being a tax write off for it
How do you do that
Still working for it and entertaining hundreds of thousands of people at the same time
dude lost some weight since the last video
This was such a good video, up to speed + custom build = perfection!
Where did James go?
That is the ONE BMW that I have always wanted!
I still remember the tv commercial for that car!
Congratulations Bro, she's a keeper!
Can't wait to see you do donuts in it!
Bring back Up to speed even if it’s once or twice a month
he might on his own channel
James' last video?
bro got them to rebuild his entire car then gave the 2 week 🤣
