Attack on Titan by Iseyama touches upon many themes but the theme I will touch on in this video is the theme of mythology. Mythology is probably the most potent type of propaganda as it is able to influence the masses with storytelling. In Attack on Titan we see how the Story of Helos and Ymir are used by Willy Tybur his family and the Marleyan elites to control the Eldians and justify their subjugation by Marley. We also see how Grisha Jaegar and his family suffer through this subjugation alongside Reiner, Zeke and his mentor. Also we see how young people like Gabi and Falco are influenced by these narratives as well. In Paradis we see how the story of Eren Jaeger influences the Jaegarists to take control of the government and even oppose the heroes Mikasa, Armin, Hange, and Levi.

I personally am not a fan of the way the story portrays the rest of the world (aside from Marley and Paradise). All other nations seem overtly suicidal. Seemingly hating Paradise (a place completely isolated from the rest of the world for 100 years) more than Marley (the nation oppressing the world through titans at this very moment). They hate Paradise so much that they're willing to allow Marely to conquer it, gain access to all 9 titans, and Paradise's resources, all, so they can get back at these technologically underdeveloped dudes sitting behind some walls on some remote corner of the earth. All while completely ignoring the consequences of allowing Marely to gain this much power.

A bit late for a reply. But Marley has been crushing other nations in war for years before Willy's speech. So I think all other nations are submitted underdogs.
Like we can see a lot of people from the middle-eastern country that Marley conquered in 4X01. They have become refugees in Marley.
