    Today we go over our two Colossal Titan shifters, Armin and Bertholdt and explain why the Colossal Titan represents responsibility and regret. Going over the many struggles Bertholdt couldn't overcome such as his deep care for his comrades who would eventually become enemies and Armins struggle with accepting his role in not only the survey corp but the world around him. Let me know if you all agree with the video!

    Now that this is back up, the next line of shifters will be starting and I'm excited! It'll be two weeks until my main man Reiner Braun/The Armored Titan will be live as I have a BLEACH video airing next week but I'm so excited to touch on the Armored Titan and after the Armored we get the wonder boy himself ZEKE YEAGER so definitely stick around to see what I have to say about two of the most complex titans/shifters in the story!

    The great, Eldian Colossus Titan... a God of Destruction. Lord of the Titans, second only to the Titan-God, the Founding Titan itself. It stands above all else, to observe and lord over all before it, to bring death and Doom to those it opposes.
    And yet, it requires its Shifter to have a Mental Fortitude in a way that only the Coordinate itself could match. More analytical, intelligent, and focused. Bertholdt broke his timid shell and was able to go forth with his potential, Armin sorta goes the opposite way but regardless, also had great inner prowess.
    The Colossal does get involved in the smaller, more minute situations, yet needs to be just as calculating, since if they're not, then they could easily destroy everything around them.
    Such a delicate balance, lots on the mind of who wields it

    • @EdoEeerieEncounters
      @EdoEeerieEncounters  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Reading all that and while working on my armored titan video, it’s really crazy how Bertholdt was able to keep it together more than Reiner while on Paradis. He’s literally destruction incarnate. Bert for sure has his own inner demons when it came to accepting what he’s done but not as much as Reiner and as far as Armin I truly feel he was headed in the opposite direction just because of who he is and his own personal experiences before becoming a shifter until he was able to accept Bertholdts word that “someone has to stain there hands with blood”. Very well said my friend 🙂

      Thanks, I appreciate it.
      I've always felt Bertholdt wad an underrated character in his own right. His last few episodes showed us why he was chosen to wield the Colossal and no one else. He kept it together, didn't snap, wasn't first to be found out or captured, saved Reiner's life, etc.
      He and Marcel were definitely the better half of the young warrior squad sent to Paradis. Annie's of course great but she's a lone wolf, and yet she still ended up first to be found out and captured. And despite being more talkative than Bert, never pushed Reiner to make better decisions, and so on.
      I just feel Bertholdt was honestly the best of the 3 in his own way and many people don't realize his last day, he really came through for his comrades.

    • @EdoEeerieEncounters
      @EdoEeerieEncounters  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thalmoragent9344 Oh no he was for sure underrated. I feel like he was even more composed than Marcel but only because Marcel literally had guilt before everyone for what he did to Reiner and such a young age and it was more personal than destroying the wall since Marcel knew Reiner personally.
      Honestly thinking about Bert really coming through for his comrades even with the pain he was feeling while fighting them, it makes it all the tragic that Zeke had to abandon him!
      As far as keeping a level head Bert was by far the best, at least in his final moments. Annie in my opinion is definitely the ideal warrior because of her ruthless and stoic nature but her lone wolf attitude, while it was helpful by letting her blindly kill anyone, became a liability near the end and to be fair there were moments where Annie tried to give Reiner advice by telling him they should leave, which I 100% agreed with, Reiner was definitely stuck in his own head and obsessed with the mission but I'm going to be touching more on that in the Armored titan video and don't want to spoil it lol

      @@thalmoragent9344 yeah, i think bertholdt was my favorite character in the series, and one i kind of identified with. He didn't want to be in the situation he was in, which i think is why he was known as being indecisive and lacking initiative. Because he really didn't want to be there. But when push came to shove, he was very good at his job. Unfortunately, that job was being a killer armed with a nuke.

    I disliked Armin during the battle in the port because he has no control over the colossal Titan, he had 4 years to master it but he didn’t, while Bertholdt mastered it in his first try, but even then Bertholdt had 2 years to get used to it before he smashed the wall. My point is that Armin could’ve prevented the blood shed in the port by using the Colossal Titan the way Bertholdt did, he could’ve held off the jaegerists for much longer without any significant damage to himself. Ironically enough before that same battle he states that he refuses to keep his hands clean while the rest dirty theirs, yet he is the only person who doesn’t kill anyone. That battle could’ve had a very different outcome if The Colossal Titan was utilized, that I think we can all agree on. Also I think Annie and Bertholdt are more similar than we think, they both distance themselves from the People of Paradis so they don’t get to attached like Reiner. You mention that Bertholdt chooses to run from his problems rather than face them but Annie does the same. When Eren and Reiner are arguing on the tree Bertholdt doesn’t get involved like Reiner because he’s accepted what he’s done, I don’t see why he would talk back to Eren, when he knows Eren is right. The Bertholdt we saw in Shiganshina was the real Bertholdt, he wasn’t confident, that was just him ready to end all this suffering. Annie and Bertholdt are similar in the sense that they both have regrets and they both have to accept that and move forward, Bertholdt doesn’t move on because of the guilt while Annie does as she said she would do it all again if it meant seeing her dad again. I feel like if Armin inherited the Armored Titan and Bertholdt stood where Reiner did, he could’ve prevented a lot of bloodshed. You say Armin takes up responsibility, but he doesn’t take the most important responsibility he has, that is the responsibility of possessing a Titan, In all of season 4 he constantly neglects and rejects the Colossal Titan because he can’t accept what he did with it in Marley. You could disagree with me but why else wouldn’t he use the Colossal Titan? If he chose to accept that he above all else is the Colossal Titan, he would’ve have wanted to master his power like Eren, instead he acts like it isn’t even a part of him, he only uses it as a last resort when others ask of him to, or when he has no other option, now he kind of sounds like Bertholdt. I definitely went on a tangent but this video made me like Armin more, I do agree with most of your points and I love your character analysis videos, because they are all so well put together. I know I sound like I hate Armin but I liked him again after I read the manga, he is the goat for doing what he did.

    I always felt like Armin's line about "he who can't abandon humanity can't defeat monsters" was meant to be something story explores and criticizes later (after Annie is defeated) when Jean and Armin wonder if change gained at such price can even be considered "victory". Given that story goes towards Rumbling later, the story seems to validate this worry.
    You can even say that greatest victory in AoT is retaining humanity. Reiner and Annie's arcs can be seen as being about that (especially Annie's, since her failure to "become a warrior" aka abandon humanity is what in the end saves her). Bertold during his convo with Armin gives in to cynicism and you can even say nihilism, and, as you note, fails and dies abandoned by all. Regret and reflection serve as something that allows Armin to avoid the same trap. He doesn't say "no one is in the wrong, the world is just that cruel". He admits that he is bad person, accepts his sins. And remains human, which helps him ch 137 a lot.
    Amazing video! Love your analyzes so much!
