- Having plenty of magnesium in all your cells is a requirement for optimum health. The magnesium content of food has been declining over the past few decades, thanks to big-farming and processing of our food. You have to make it a point to eat lots of magnesium-rich food. In the process, you also want to avoid needless carbohydrates.
The list of medical conditions created, or or worsened, by low magnesium intake is quite long. You can improve or prevent these conditions by making sure you get lots of magnesium in your diet every day.
Some people need a magnesium supplement to replenish their magnesium-hungry cells, but most people can do just fine by eating lots of the foods on this list.

How much magnesium is safe to take?
Most people do fine with a dose of 200-400mg at bedtime. Some people need more. If you have normal kidney function you can take up to 1000mg daily until you replenish your depleted cells of magnesium.
I make magnesium oil (magnesium chloride) and spray that on after a shower. Sleep really well and very cheap to make.

Can you please share your recipe? Thank you and God bless.
Yes please, would you be kind enough to share your recipe. 🙏
I would love to know how you make your magnesium if you are OK sharing. Thank you.
I wanted to comment on the most recent video in the hopes most folks will see it. I am currently in the hospital for an unrelated infection from oral surgery. I started low carb 7 weeks ago for the second time in my life and found your channel. I am down 15lbs already and feel awesome. The reason for my comments is this. Hospitals have NO CLUE about food, diet and low carb. Everything they try to feed me is loaded with crap. A muffin, orange juice, corn flakes im sure are all GMO, and the like. I am lucky enough to know someone in food service who gets me some scrambled eggs. I am 53, still need to loose 15 more but my blood sugar went from 130 tested twice in a month, to 92, and 94 just 6 weeks later!! I cant thank you enough for the real information.
Good grief, one would hope they could request a "diabetic meal" but even that usually has overloaded carbs. It baffles me how some dieticians will die on the idea of "healthy whole wheat" for a diabetic. Will NOT admit that it turns to sugar ina person's body. They also recommend high sugar yogurts. You must have eaten a whole lot of scrambled eggs while in the hospital! (Another fav hospital push is chicken fried -breaded- steak. So wrong to do that to meat!)
We are want we eat man. ..stay the course ...😀
The same is true of nursing homes where they feed the residents cheap high carb foods.
My husband is a diabetic and when he was in the hospital, in spite of his notice and chart saying he was, they sent regular jello, toast, potatoes, sliced bread, and ice cream for dessert. It was appalling and re-confirmed just how bad our sick care is. It is not health care or the hospital would have been diligent about his meals.
Cindy Dorfler-Hederer
I bet it’s all about cost hospitals are being cheap-don’t want to pay the cost of quality foods.

Great video, really important information.
I was a welder for years, and I wore no safety equipment, I also suffered debilitating cramps for years, and doctors didn't know why. I had cramps heart racing, high blood pressure, spasms, it was all terrible!
I went into a Walmart one day in northern Montana, a pleasant, very fit male pharmacist struck up a conversation with me, he asked about my symptoms and immediately grabbed a few things for me, he said he especially knew because of my welding years. He said what you said, magnesium, about 500 mg per day, plus natural potassium. My cramps and heart condition nearly disappeared in just a few days!
Anyway, thanks for putting these videos together, I'm sure they will help numerous people.
How long it took for ur bp to normalise plzz reply..n how mch mg potassium
Can u plz twl d name of mwdicine
1. Red meat and organ meat
2. Fatty fish - wild caught
3. While fat deli cheese
4. Leafy greens
5. Seeds - chia, pumpkin
6. Nuts - cashews, Brazil, walnuts, pecans, macadamia
7. Avocados
Bonus (and my personal fav) high % dark chocolate
Thanks, Dr Berry!
He said NO cashews because of carb content
The very great thing is having a Polish meat store in your neighborhood. They have many liverwursts and especially the natural “course” one that I like with small pieces of pork liver and it also has a high fat content. I also get the natural high fat cheeses like one called Krowlewski, which comes right from Poland and is made the traditional way. They also sell a very high fat lightly smoked bacon with the nutritious rind still on. Also they carry pasture raised eggs that they get from a Mennonite farm. These type of stores have so much carnivore goodness. I feel very Blessed to have them close.
Where are you at?? In the midwest?
I live in a Polish Kashubian area. Fantastic traditional foods.
coarse ?
We ate organ meats in the 1950s as a matter of course. We also bought a part of the cow from the farmer. We also had a large garden and had great fresh whole food all the time.
Irene Ward yup we took a wrong turn along the way and we’re making our way back
We still eat organ meats.
Yes, I remember eating tripe, lambs fry etc. couldn’t come at Brains 😉
Irene Ward i wish it could be like that now😢
In the 90s we ate potato smiley faces, turkey dinosaurs and spaghetti hoops as a matter of course. We also bought sweets from the corner shop. We had a small council estate garden and had tinned food all the time.
I have a mild fatty liver, and hypothyroidism. My doctor said NO red meats, and of course, no alcohol. I am learning about this keto lifestyle from your videos and it sounds like it could be for me.
I hope that 4 years on, you’ve watched more videos by Dr. Berry and learned the true cause of your fatty liver, if you’re not a drinker of alcohol. I believe I’ve had mild NAFLD too. Dr. Berry says just the opposite of your doctor: eat ONLY fatty meats, and low carb, to cure your fatty liver. The high carb and industrial seed oil-laden (corn oil, canola oil, safflower oil, etc.) Standard American Diet are what cause NAFLD, NOT saturated animal fat. I hope you’re doing well now and feel great! 🙏

@@karilp17 Thank you. I'll look into this.
Young coconut water is very rich in magnesium. I live in a tropical country where young coconuts are easy to find. I drink the water after my morning walk 3 times a week.
Love this bloke. Talks a lot of sense. Top man.
I've been taking a magnesium brand called CALM. It's a powdered magnesium that you add to warm water. It fizzes at first and turns clear. I drink it at night, sleep like a baby and it's a moving experience the next day.
I eat red meat, leafy greens, avocados and nuts.
@Jake Rubnitz What does it tatse like and what is the strength?
@Jake Rubnitz Yes, several flavors. I've tried a coupke, but still go back to the original.
Gigi Smalley fuck i got to try this! Where did u buy it
I got some of this a month ago. Amazing stuff!
@@Kyle906-Q8 i think my wife got it on amazon. I cant find it in stores.
I am having the hardest time finding a local doctor who is up-to-date on nutrition. It would be great if Dr. Berry could set up a forum so that people who follow him on social media could share info about docs all over who are keto friendly.
I'm having the same trouble. I'm going on all the websites that doctor Ken has given and there's no one in my regional area on those websites. The closest is about 3 hours away
Been following for some time doc...back when you had fewer than 50K followers. Your channel is really growing now!
I was looking up sources of mag and potassium as this notification popped up. Amazing! Thanks again Doc!
lol me also..
Nicole Adams same here.
Yeah, this is such important info when starting out on keto. I am keto for 2 months now (down 30 lbs 230-200), doing great, but it is time to have a quick check up (my Dr. is super supportive). So getting blood test this week to make sure all is in line. Great info here.
Nicole Adams dont freek out if your cholesterol is up. When your losing weight your cholesterol will be elevated. Look at adapter life on TH-cam
Thanks Mama...will do! No freaking out...I feel better than I did in years, promise! :) So glad I found keto...it is really life changing!
I have access to pastured grass fed and finished beef heart and liver. Also pancreas and thymus.
Cashews are not nuts. Cashews are a legume.
I highly recommend Organic Cacao Nibs instead of processed chocolate.
Cashews are not a legume. They are technically classified as drupes or "stone fruits" like peaches, plums, apricots, etc. The cashew is unusual, however, as it grows attached to the outside of the fruit (the cashew apple) instead of developing on the interior of the fruit like the "pits" in other drupes.

I was just diagnosed with high blood pressure. Thank you for the vids.
I watched your video about possible magnesium deficiency- more specifically the symptoms relating to sleep issues and heart palpitations. It spurred me to purchase a magnesium supplement (low dosage of 100 mg per tablet) to see if this might be of benefit. I took one with supper last night and here are some things I noticed: went to sleep well, my whole body feels more relaxed and more flexible plus an overall sensation of inner "balance". While I eat quite well (no wheat or gluten, little dairy or sugar) it doesn't mean you may be getting what your body needs. Thank you for taking the time to share this information - i'm sure you have helped many already.
Which magnesium supplement did you used ?
And for how long?
Keep coming back to your videos Dr Berry. 🙏
Thank you for this content. I have just been trying to decide what to take for a magnesium as I have been suspicious of a magnesium deficency for just a year or more. Since watching your video "Which supplements should I take?" I was very happy to order the one you linked today. Also I have lost 35 pounds since learning so much from your videos on eating low carbs. I am a much happier healthier woman and you are part of my success. 💗 THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR ADVICE & TIME. 😌

THANK YOU FOR THE MEDICAL/NUTRITION ADVICE. GOD BLESS YOU.
Dolores Cannon got info from the other side, during her QHHT sessions that we are not to be eating animals. No beef or pork since they are too dense for your light body to form during this time of ascension. The photo on the left is the light body of my dog, taken weeks after her passing.
Julie N I totally agree- eating mammals especially is bad for the planet, bad for our bodies and spirits, and horribly cruel to the animals (factory farming is the #1 cause of climate chaos, and hideously cruel to animals- this is why cameras aren’t allowed in, and there aren’t any windows- it’s a Holocaust). I cringe when I hear dead animal parts recommended, as there are perfectly fine sources of nutrients in the plant kingdom. I’ve been some form of veg for over 50 years (I do eat wild-caught fish now, every 1-2 weeks) and I look younger and have fewer health problems than all my siblings, though I’m the oldest.
I’ve just discovered you and I notice you’ve been here for years! Well, I need you more now so I guess the timing works! Your info is awesome, you get right to the point in layman’s terms! So glad I found you! Thank you! ❤️
Something I don’t see mentioned very often is the oxalates that are high in leafy greens especially spinach and kale.
Build up of these oxalates can have adverse affects on the human body from what I’ve learned.
a couple of weeks ago I bought hering packed in a watery liquid, and was so much looking forward to eat it- once at home after shopping I read the list of ingredients: sugar, glucose etc. added... :( one really has to look everywhere
Pepitas are awesome!! Walnuts are my favorite. Thank you for your excellent videos.
Magnificent magnesium is great for blood pressure as well
Love this!
I feel like you read my mind sometimes.
😉
Yay for the dark chocolate. I eat two cups (the pack of two small cups from the health food store) everyday and have ate healthy all my life. There’s always something new to learn.
Dr. Berry is the Man!
You mentioned cheese. Please can you make a video explaining if these cheeses have magnesium, how much and also how each affects someone on a high fat carnivore diet. Also, I have a blood sugar disorder and seem to have been hypoglycemic my whole life which drove me to be dependent on sugar more with the years. Now on this diet my blood sugars have been between 93-126. How do these cheeses affect someone with hypoglycemia. The list of cheeses I'm wondering about is a list a friend told me about in 2020 as he said we need these as hypoglycemics: cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, cream cheese, mozzarella cheese, plain Greek yogurt, sour cream, heavy cream, heavy whipping cream, butter, also he said fatty beef, but that's not a cheese. That's the list he told me to eat. I have noticed they helped me keep my blood sugar more stable while eating a normal american diet and also they helped me not bleed so much in my period. I'm 44. I have been eating only hamburger, beef steak, eggs, butter, ricotta, cottage cheese, ground black pepper, pink Himalayan salt and English breakfast tea with heavy whipping cream, this is my 7th day. I haven't cheated. I'm very concerned about electrolytes and cannot find solid info to know what to take or how much and I would like a natural food to get these through diet instead of a powder or pill. Please can you help me? I don't want to overdose myself. I will try to get ground hamburger with heart and liver but I can't for a few weeks because I have to wait for more money. During this time I had 7 whopper patties plus 2 huge steak packs around 8" by 6" package, I forgot to look at the oz. I have eaten almost 3 containers of ricotta, about 6 inches tall each. I've eaten maybe 4 dozen eggs and 6 packs of butter, so 24 sticks? I don't know. I didn't measure and count it all. I don't know what portions to eat. I was desperate to g t my blood sugar on track and had been surviving off sugar with almost no appetite, barely eating 1 meals a day, felt like I was dying for years, almost went blind too. I'm 44, female, 5'7", large boned and fat 250 lbs. I don't know anyone to ask. I jumped into this diet when I tried it for one meal and it levelled out my blood sugars so I stuck with it for a week now. I feel unsure of what to do and I need help. I am researching about it constantly. I don't have anyone I know who is doing what I'm doing, so I don't know who to ask. I trust you. I've watched a ton of your videos but it's still very new for me. Thank you for what you do.
I forgot to say, I think I'm constipated because I'm not pooping daily. My poop Ian dry and hard, it comes out easy and it's like fluffy and light brown or yellow, but I have eaten so much more than I am pooping and I know I was basically starving, so maybe my body is using what I eat, but I am not getting extra potassium, magnesium or electrolytes, also I don't drink salty water like they talk about. I don't know what to do about these. I just salt my food. I'm worried I am not getting enough salt or electrolytes or potassium or magnesium. I am also worried I'm constipated. I don't know. This is 100% different than any way I've eaten before and I have no complaints, it's keeping my blood sugar level but I fear I'm not getting enough of the right things. I also don't know what portions are right for me.
Is there a dark chocolate high in magnesium that has only the chocolate, nothing added, either a bar or powder that is good to use for magnesium?
Do you mean leafy greens raw or cooked? Young or old? Like baby spinach raw vs cook mature spinach? What about dandelion leaves in my yard? Can I eat baby dandelion leaves raw and cook mature dandelion leaves and use that for magnesium? Honestly how much is too much, cause my yard is loaded with these and I'll eat all of it if you let me! 🤣🤣🤣
At last! I’ve finally found a Dr. Berry video where he specifies *wild caught* fish! Very important.
Yes! Any farm fish contains antibiotics and all sorts of unnatural man made ingredients just like the farmed chickens or cows and pigs being fed with steroids to make them grow bigger and faster.
Natural Calm magnesium, has helped me tremendously. I take it when my pulse it too high and when I'm facing situations that trigger anxiety, like public speaking etc. I have recommended it to everyone I know who struggle with anxiety.
sulfate sulfate my family uses that one!
Helped w/ridding panic attacks
sulfate sulfate Is it a tea? Where can I find it? Thx
J
What do you take for it because I have the problem please help me
Love this video! I started taking MG vitamin. Thank you for your kindness and helping our world to eat healthy.
Magnesium citrate in the tummy remedy aisle 10 oz bottle: take 1 oz before beddy bye time. It's affordable, too. It doesn't tend to build up in your system, either. (Like magnesium sulfate etc)
I was going to say I eat most of these things on a regular basis, but like you said supplementing is sometimes required. I think with my auto immune diseases I do need the extra help. But that's okay, I've been doing SOOOO much better since beginning my vitamin regime. As always thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Coffee can leech magnesium. Thanks for all the great info!
I used to ask my mother to cook me venison heart and beef heart. Can’t really eat it much now, but I used to love it.
Why not?
Low Cab sources: red meat and organ meats, salmon fatty fish wild, whole fat cheeses, leafy greens, seeds chia & pumpkin, nuts walnuts pecan, macadamia, brazil., avocado, dark chocolate.
I Love Beef Heart.
Unfortunately, the tap water in my area upsets my body pretty badly, so I'm always drinking bottled water. Because of that I eat a lot of beef heart another magnesium-rich foods,, but still take supplements.
I'm a lot less concerned about microplastics than I am what my tap water does to me.
Thank you doctor Ken Berry
I have no headaches since taking Magnesium , I also eat meat. and fish 👍💖🇬🇧
May God bless u DR
Great video!
Hello from another Tennessean!
You can also get magnesium from soaking with Epsom Salts in a bath or with your feet in the tub.
Thank you for all your great advice. I will donate when I get paid. Your information is priceless!
Thanks for smart n excellent information on magnesium of low carb diet. It is really helpful for to control my blood sugar, whlie keeping mineral needs on right doses. You are amazing n accurate. I watch almost all of your presentation.
Thanks.
Most comprehensive list of pro-magnesium foods I've found yet. There's more to it than Avocados, spinach and dark chocolate. Need more practical info on the MG/CA story...Also, does Mg deposit reserves in the body or do we need to ensure daily minimum intake, day by day?
Thanks for your videos.

So grateful for this helpful video. Thanks for your work.
My parents grew up as farmers and learned to eat every part of the animal. I like it, too. Now that I live on a fixed income I can't buy much of that. I crave spinach, though.
Hi 🙂 ! I enjoyed your video, thank you 🙂! I checked the description box & did NOT find information on purchasing Magnesium Supplements. Please advise, I may have missed it. Thank you 🙂!!

Hi Dr. Berry, I’ve been following awhile and your book will be arriving in the mail on Saturday! I’m also in Tennessee but am about two hours away. But I definitely think you are worth the trip- especially since my husband is showing several signs for metabolic syndrome and seems to be sick every week, whether it’s migraines, stomach issues, etc. That being said, love the videos but I’m a busy professional and tend to steer towards podcasts due to my long days and long commute. When are you going to get a podcast??? I’d love to listen to you more!! Also have you done a video on combating sugar addiction? That’s hubby’s #1 problem and he tries to fight it but is literally wired for sugar. Thanks so much and hopefully we’ll visit you soon!!!
Thank you very much. You said not to eat peanuts. Could you please explain why we shouldn’t? Thanks!
Great info thanks!!
are sardines ok everyday I just love them
Be careful don't over eat it's so high in Purines ♥️🇺🇸🦅🇲🇺🦤
Dr. Berry, thanks for all you do. You and Dr. Boz are so helpful. Please, both do NOT stop. Quick question: the Magnesium you recommended I looked up on Amazon and a reviewer said this has a lot of Arsenic in it. I wanted to know your thoughts to this. Thanks and Have a Happy, Healthy New Year 2019.
which is that? There isn't a link in the Desc of this vid. But he links to Mega Mg on another vid.
Great as usual doc thumbs up all' the way

Thank you for your videos!
Excellent point abut sardines! I will be adding those back into my diet. I love them with a dollop of mustard and salt ;-) . This is an excellent reminder. I take slo-mag and also drink water with Natural Calm powder at night which keeps me sleeping well, keeps me regular and also no leg cramps at night. Dark chocolate is so yummy! Thanks for this super video! xoxoMarjorie
There are sardines with mustard in them, we.get ours at Food Lion in SC 👍
I,m very happy to learn about magnesium l also have low magnesium thanks very mach
Why don't you eat peanuts? Just wondering. Thanks for the great videos!
I just bought a lamb heart! It smelled so mild and looked so appetizing that I took a bite out of it raw (I am not scared of raw meats). It tasted super mild and had an amazing texture so I couldn't stop eating it and almost finished it... Apparently I needed that.

Thank you Dr Berry.
Farmers market is a good place to buy organ meats. I did find that we need to pre order. The farmers are saying that the organ meats go really fast.
wow thanks
Thank you for all this wonderful information, but Btw as I was watching this video, I noticed all throughout the video, there are Orbs (or maybe a fly or moth) flying through the air around you once in a while, starting at 2:02..Just thought maybe you have a passed Dr. in your family that might be with you :)
They looked like orbs to me. He is protected. Very nice
A study was done on most high quality dark chocolate bars; almost "all" of them were high in Cadmium and Lead, be careful.
Yes you helped greatly - thank you. But really - I don't know if I can force feed myself 'liver' or any other organ meats. Judi
thank you very helpful to me
