    My state, South Carolina, used to be known as the Iodine State. That was its official nickname. It was because the lower half of the state, where lots of farming occurs, was at one time covered by ocean, and the soil in that area is still incredibly rich in iodine and transfers the iodine to the crops grown in that soil.

      @mchrysogelos7623 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I also heard (not sure where) that the iodine in the salt evaporates and releases into the air over time and after opening. so it is almost useless. Most of what the "government" tells us and does (without our permission) is USELESS and even possibly harmful! People used to eat full-fat foods all the time and when I look back at most people prior to 80's, 90's, etc. they didn't have the weight problem we see now. Granted - many things contribute to this, but it can also be a cycle: cut out good stuff, people eat bad/empty foods and crave more, they continue eating bad stuff which packs on the weight and keeps starving them. I generally don't listen to what "medical folks" tell us. Especially when one year coffee aspirin, etc. etc. are bad and then suddenly the next year or so, they are good. blah

      Yah, red meat or any meat is bad, eggs bad, butter bad, cream bad but be sure to eat carbs in any and every form.
      Yah, look at how well that turned out.
      I’ll go to Dr B any day, or a doctor he recommended. But 99% I do not trust. I blame my sisters Dr for her death because she had cancer and told her she could eat whatever she wanted, just don’t drink soda😳. Stage 4 cancer and don’t drink soda.
      That’s not all of it but that was the last brain fart from him before she died.
      I genuinely believe most Drs don’t give a shite about their patience. But I know Dr B does.

    My father told me when he grew up, near the coast, the family had one cow, some sheep and some chicken. He learned early to go out fishing and they ate lots of fish. My grandparents was the first generation Finns that moved to north Norway because of food scares in Finland in the 1880. They used seaweed as food for the animals, and I remembered my father telling me how happy the animals was when they got cocked fish for dinner. And my father loved the raw milk that tased a bit oceany ( is that a word?)
    I wish I had that upbringing, but now it's illigal to sell raw milk here in Norway and it was not possible to live where my father grew up, he had to be near a job earning money for living.

    The Irish are known to be big consumers of potatoes and I'm sure that potatoes grown in Ireland are loaded with iodine because it's an island nation. Also, Irish cattle, cheese and milk should have good iodine in them as well - even the grain fed cattle. Iodine is absorbed by the lungs if it is available in the breeze that wafts in off the ocean spray. Japan produce is loaded with iodine too, I would say.

    Look into zinc supplementation. I’ve been doing keto and intermittent fasting for nine months. All my markers have gotten better except I had have high blood glucose fasted. And it always seem to range in the low 100s. But sometimes as high as130. I’ve tried a few things like berberine and Ceylon cinnamon. With no real results. I decided to give 50 mgs of zinc once a day a try. After about a week and a half I noticed my glucose readings after eating were a lot lower. Then I started noticing my fasted morning glucose in the mid 90s. Since I don’t trust glucose strips entirely since they seem to fluctuate from bottle to bottle. I thought it was just a fluke. But I’m on my third bottle of 50 after a few weeks and everything is still holding. I’ve actually seen my glucose a number of times two hours after eating in the mid-80s. That’s when I read a study from John Hopkins University on zinc from 2017. Something about a gene variant that of some people have it is it doesn’t really affect much but if you don’t have it it seems to control your glucose and also insulin sensitivity. Since diabetes runs on both sides of my family I always thought that I would be able to keep it down but never perfectly. I was somewhat satisfied follow 100 readings. But now I’m thinking maybe it doesn’t have to be that way maybe my body which I’m sure was getting plenty of zinc through the foods I eat but wasn’t being absorbed properly. The study also stated that pre-diabetics and diabetics have more zinc in their urine then in their blood. Which means your body is just peeing it out rather than using it. Just a thought for people struggling to get their glucose down maybe this is the right move for you. So far it seems to be for me.

      It varies with age, activity, and person. Older people need more protein, and may need levels approaching that of body builders. Some people thrive on a plant based diet, and others thrive on a meat based diet. I am 67 years old and thrive on a meat based diet. My target is 0.8 g of protein per pound of ideal body weight. Grams of protein are not the same as grams of meat. An example is 100 grams of rib eye steak no visible fat eaten contains 30.7 grams of protein. So rib eye is around 30% protein. Most of the weight is actually water. You need as much protein as it takes to satiate you, give you good energy, and make you feel healthy. There are as many opinions about how much protein to eat as there are people with opinions. This is mine.

    • @someguy43210
      @someguy43210 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bnsgokugreat It depends on various factors, such as your weight, metabolic health, genetics, and physical activities. The advice telling people to restrict protein is wrong, it's not a problem when combined with intermittent fasting and low carb. See Siim Land video title Methionine Restriction and Longevity. He eats significantly more protein than the recommendation, yet his insulin and IGF1 levels are lower than people who eat low protein, but he eat in a 2-4hrs window, low carb meals, and work out. Carb raises insulin and IGF1 more than protein. Protein does seem to need to be restricted if you have existing cancer.
      Too low IGF1 is associated with cancer mortality and too low insulin is associated with shorter life span. So there is a sweet spot, health is not about restricting everything all the time.

      Eggs from free-range birds(whatever birds you raise, or you can get from those that raise egg layers) are better than from chaged birds !!
      I hope that this helps👍🤠‼️

    I love your channel and wanted to “read” your book. My main form of consuming books is on Audible Are you planning on creating an audiobook version in the near future?
