Keto Witch So you can't go through a whole night without eating? That is odd. You probably should increase your fat content. You have to get off of carbs. Take an actual quality electrolyte/ mineral supplement. Increase your fasting window in very small increments every week or so.
Keto Witch Oh and most "real doctors" don't know anything about diet and nutrition. This dude is great. But most conventional docs are very flawed in their approach. I don't recommend using that method as a criteria for accepting any advice or not.
I started taking 340 mg of magnesium glycinate about two months ago for some harmless arrhythmias. I recently noted that my BP is now consistently 110/70. I’ve always been a 125/85 guy and took 5 mg of lisinopril for many years. I’ve since discontinued all meds and can only assume my lower BP is due the daily magnesium dose! Amazing.
But how did your doc & you decide to get off your 5 mg a day Lisinopril? Did you just one day stop completely the BP medicine - and keep eye on blood pressure? Hope you see this - a whole year later- Would be nice to see an update here from you, thank you!!

I've been battling chronic fatigue for my entire adult life (30M). I'm in ridiculous shape, I eat healthy but I couldn't figure out what was wrong. I tried everything. Eventually, I decided to start taking Magnesium Glycinate and Magnesium Citrate before bed. After a month of doing so, I feel well rested every single night. I am more productive at work. I am more confident, more assertive, generally in a better mood and just an overall greater pleasure to be around. I think magnesium deficiency is what I was struggling with. On lowest dose of thiazide for BP (sole condition) for two weeks with no guidance from my doctor on managing palpitations, dehydration, and diet. The complexities of magnesium, potassium, calcium and how they work together and more importantly, how deficiencies (and excesses!) in one of these minerals has consequential effects. After two days of trolling the internet to better understand the medication, the symptoms, and fit it all together, I landed upon one of your videos. More doctors should provide the basic education you provide. It's not enough to hand a patient a scrip and hope they thrive. Your community and patients have a gem in you.

But if you are mostly animal based, like me, your needs are potentially difficult and here is why...... And you can obtain magnesium from these animal sources”.
I have been taking Omeprazole and diclofenac for 7 years now and no doctor told me about taking magnesium. Just started reading about the two drugs I am taking because of the site effects I have been experiencing. I am 60 years old and I have to tell you, the way majority of doctors treated me is just outrageous. Each time I mention the site effects I am ignored. I used to suffer from mineral deficiency and had many health problems from drinking reverse osmosis water, now I drink spring water after finding out what the problem was, never been this healthy in years. No supplements. Thanks.
I made a big pot of collard greens yesterday with turkey sausage, onion, and seasoning, and my son and I just gobbled them up, they were so good. We love them!
We started Keto and got a magnesium citrate supplement. I have fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, and vitamin D deficiency amongst other things. I USED to have migraines (at least one weekly) and have only had one or two a month since taking the supplement. We ran out and I got daily headaches that stopped as soon as we got more. I ALWAYS feel better after an epsom salt bath. Thanks for the tips.
Since I started taking magnesium supplements and also followed the intermittent fasting, I was able to go off of one of my blood pressure medication. I hope to eventually get off of the second one,But I am so happy with the results so far. Thank you! Thank you so much.
I used to get really bad leg cramps, sometimes from my groin to my knee in my inner thigh or right in the middle of my calves, specially at night when I stretched my legs, since supplementing with magnesium they have stopped.
I think you saved my life. I was magnesium deficient and had all the symptoms. I don't have them anymore after I started taking a supplement and eating keto. Thank you.
I know it's been a year, but just wondering how you're doing with the steady heartbeats? I'm currently experiencing tachycardia type symptoms & it's been going in for a few days now. Getting a little worried.
As a mom living north of Detroit, I was originally interested in providing my sons with enough fiber to solve their problems with constipation. I planted Kurly Kale from seed behind my petunias in front of my house. I would pinch off the tiny flowers when they came, but was able to harvest kale 11 months of the year. They would die down in February and start up again from the roots in March. At dinner time, I would simply slip out my front door with my kitchen shears, shake the snow off the plant and cut what I wanted for our meal. I could easily "hide" torn bits of kale in any hot dish (mac & cheese, spaghetti, chili, etc.). The top leaves were always tender enough for my salads. My plants were 4 years old when I moved away from them. I never gave them a bit of care but they produced wonderfully anyway.
Thank you Dr. Berry for all your advice. I was Dx with diabetes on Christmas eve. A1c was 11.6, i started following your keto, and then carnivore advice. Three mos later A1c= 7.1. Got off the metformine and switched to berberine and french lilac. Now my A1c is 6.1, down from 11.6 in six mos. BP is 100/70, all labs are good. My primary doctor almost pissed himself, said it couldn't be done. I hope to have my A1c out of the pre diabetic range and back to normal on a few mos. Thank you so much !!
I accidentally found out magnesium fixes my blood pressure..lol I was looking for anything to get off blood pressure meds, started taking potassium and magnesium every night. Blood pressure went down from 140/95 to 117/70, ran out of magnesium and my blood pressure went back up. Thank you for posting this!
I'm a registered dietitian and knew that serum calcium will always try to correct itself in the blood and I tell bariatric patients that all the time. It's great to know that about serum magnesium too.
Me too brother. I am doing EWOT, omad and 200 to 300 pushups 2 days on and one day off. 71 and getting younger every day. Great vid here but I drink magnesium carbonate water every day. Super cheap and easy to make and you get a dose every time you drink and all day long. Source for it is Dr. Sircus and he teaches you how to make it.
I take 40 mg of Pantoprazole a day, what do you recommend for acid reflux? I also take 80 mg of Telmisartan for high blood pressure. What are your recommendations?
Doctor, please talk a little bit more about the lack of magnesium. It can cause bipolar disorder, suicidal tendencies, mood swings, depression and much more. So many peoples in the United States suffers from depression. Many psychiatrists do not check for vitamin deficiencies, but instead administer strong psychotropic drugs. Your audience need to hear more about this problem. Thank you.

The remaining symptoms started to diminished immediately, greatly improved after a month ~~ amazing really.

Magnesium stopped my late-night headaches cold-before I got into keto. Now, with keto and fasting, the inflammation (degenerative disc disease) is simply gone. Still supplementing with time-release magnesium, D3 and K2, and adding plenty of salt AND "NoSalt" potassium chloride to my food.
I remember doing a Nutrition lab experiment in college, feeding a lab rat a zero Magnesium diet. That poor rat became so neurologic after about 10 days that we stopped the trial & put him back on normal feed. The Neuro signs resolved in about 3 days. Magnesium matters!
I would wake up 2 or 3 times a night with tightness in lower back and hamstrings. I would stretch and use bengay. This went on for a long time. Four months ago I started taking 400 mg of magnesium right after supper. I no longer have those cramps and tight muscles. I sleep through the night. Trust me life is a lot easier to deal with when you are rested.
I recently started taking magnesium and then I had bloodwork done and it was low! Good to see this video, the foods are a real great suggestion, I didn't know about these!
I've gone from months of Keto to carnivore just 5 weeks ago. Last week I started feeling my heart beating hard. I thought it was my blood pressure as I've stopped all my blood pressure meds but it was 117 / 73. It got worse over the next few days and caused me to not sleep last night. Laying down made the problem worse. This morning at 3:45am I woke and took a hot shower, in the shower I recalled seeing this video just the day before. "magnesium is critical for the heart" so on a hunch I went to the kitchen and dug out the magnesium supplement that I had purchased just a few weeks before. I wasn't taking it because the tablets were so big. I took two (the recommended daily dose) and before 5am I began to notice I was feeling better. My heart was not beating so weird and my mood became better. Now it's almost 8am and I feel great. I can't even feel my heart beating and my pressure is 110/69.. not bad for 60 and no medications what so ever. Magnesium.. you need it! Thanks doc.

Hi! I’m an adult and I LOVE leafy greens but I’m very oxalate sensitive. The last time I ate cooked spinach I almost went to the hospital. I’ve been doing epsom salt soaks and they are really helping. Just wanted you to know :)
@@liorkimelblat7994 I did! I ate an Indian dish called saag paneer which is cooked spinach sauce with cheese cubes in it! It’s my favorite but darn near killed me. Even raw spinach or kale is out for me.
Me too. I’ve been drinking smart water and a supplement. No vegetables please. I do take algae, Chlorella and Spirulina. No oxalates! It’s not a plant or an animal and it’s loaded with vitamins and minerals and detoxes.
Let me first thank you for this wonderful video! I learned so much from it. Allow me in this fortuitous moment to share something I read in one of Dr. Dean’s books about magnesium that caught my attention: “The biggest obstacle to magnesium is that most people think it’s too simple a solution. If you feel you have a serious condition, you may expect the treatment to be just as extreme, so with magnesium, its simplicity is its downfall”.
You may have low stomach acid and are unable to absorb enough of the vitamins and minerals. Try taking apple cider vinegar pills and and enzyme pill with betane hydrochloride
Magnesium solved my back problem! omg i had back spasms for ten years. i went to drs and ofc i was given drugs, i had adjustments, i did yoga, meditated. now the last two changed my life, but i still had this pain.. nothing worked. it finally became almost constant when my daughter got me some magnesium and made me take a lot... boom back pain gone in 6 hours! it has not returned. i had other related symptoms, joint pain, foot cramps, leg pain... all clearing up since i began the doses and i changed my diet to more raw veggies, leafy mixed greens giant salads, for dressing hummus, with olive oil and vinegar which are all good for you. cashews are rich in magnesium. less carbs and i'm aiming for less sugars too. i work 10 hr shifts, i'm very very active, in a busy deli, and i run circles around people. i feel awesome now!
Same. Spasms, cramps, dull pain in low and mid back, for couple years. Unexplained. Until... that's right, I started using epsom salt topically in only a few days it was significantly better. Within a week it seemed to be "cured." Quotes because how knows.... Also I sleep better, am more calm, and joints feel better. All unexpected.
I went to the hospital in nsw australia yesterday to have a catheter removed…went into Afib …heart rate 150bpm…taken to emergency, given iv drip magnesium sulphate (epsom salt) and potassium chloride….2 hours later feeling fine, 1 hour later sent home feeling like a new man….
I’ve taken a magnesium supplement every night for at least ten years. It’s my understanding that it’s also good for muscle contractions and can be easily depleted in folks who work out hard and often.
And for me the right type is important but even more so the right amount. 400mg keeps me regular but 800 and I better have access and a clear lane to the bathroom or else
Thank you for your expertise. I was having trouble with sleep and a friend recommended magnesium and it has worked wonders for me. Thank you for your podcasts as I am following your advice on many subjects.
Thanks Doc! Lots of good info. I’m on magnesium infusions monthly. I have crohns and lose a lot of nutrition. I stay away from the leafy greens because they go right through me. I’m also on Remicade which doesn’t seem to be helping. I do 4 chewable magnesium pills a day. 400 mg each. I’m going to get one of the supplements you suggested. Thank you again!
I am on birth control and i know that i have a magnesium. And i also found out that it helps with pcos. So i am going to start my magnesium journey tomorrow.

Anyway, talking to the nurse practitioner at a follow up visit she recommended not taking a magnesium supplement because it may harm my liver. This kind of confuses me. Any thoughts?
Thanks so much for your no nonsense approach to good health. I want to suggest that the carnivore keto diet is effective in 5 ways from quality meat and a direct way from quality fat. From meat 2 ways: two amino acids are released by the catabolysing of ingested muscle. One is glycine, critical for nerve health and formation and glutamine, critical as a fuel and for regulation of nitrogen breakdown and excretion. With free L-glutamine circulating in the blood, the body stops catabolysing its native muscle. Glycine is essential for neuron health, our brain consists of glycerin in various forms made from glycine and cholesterols. No glycine and no fat (direct way fat is effective) is a no brainer. From meat 3rd way: meats supply B12. The myelin sheath cannot be made without it. Myelin being the insulator tissue around dendritic nerve. No myelin no impulse conduction. Fat also direct in myelin schwann cells which wrap around nerves to prevent short circuiting of electric pulses. Now to the point of WHY our body eats our lean muscle. 4th and 5th way meat promotes nerve and muscle health: Muscle tissue contains in proper ratio magnesium and calcium. These bivalent minerals activate myosin and actin, proteins responsible for contracting and relaxing muscle fibers in various sheaths and nerve bundles. bundles. The western diet is over the top with calcium thereby depleting and binding any magnesium (however minuscule) which might be available. EDTA preservative binds magnesium in canned foods whether meat or vegetables. It is added to prevent bacteria spoilage. Like bacteria we need magnesium for hundreds of enzyme functions. When we eat EDTA in any food it chelates magnesium. Tired?Blood cells cannot be made without magnesium and B12. Eat fresh, eat meat and eat fat. Be lean and well🥬🍗🐣🙏🏿
Almost all high in oxalates ... not good for those of us suffering from high oxalates that have damaged our health. And oxalates deplete our magnesium (by binding to them).

Why is it that unless we study up on TH-cam, we as non medical people don’t know how to keep ourself healthy. I never miss appointments, blood work, medications or supplements and I don’t feel like my doctor is up on the stuff you talk about. He’s attentive and asks me questions about what’s wrong with me, but he doesn’t offer information like you do. I feel like unless I ask the exact right question? I don’t even stand a chance of finding out what could possibly be wrong with me. You connect the dots. Maybe he does too, but I can’t tell. 😓😬
@Jacob H Remember that M.D. does not stand for medical deity. Many people practically worship the M.D. Most M.D.s are only trained to write prescriptions - after all it is big pharma that funds to medical schools. Research how Rockefeller and friends started it all. They drummed out the naturopaths. And they are still working on that as they are now trying to get Homeopathic Remedies banned, as well as there has been a move to ban or limit Vitamins & Minerals. Why are we so apathetic about this?

Yeah this is a bit dated. Funny hearing Dr Berry telling us to suck it up and eat the green leafy veggies. Found this video looking for info on which magnesium to take. He looks a lot healthier now since ditching the veggies!
Which magnesium supplement do I take to prevent me from having that The drowsy sleepy feeling I stopped taking it because it makes me feel drowsy in real sleepy is there a difference between the two and what you mentioned in this video
your body did not accept the dosage thats why u felt drowsy...its like shifting from a baby tricycle to superbike :) start from small dosage and gradually increase it...but dont overconsume it..other things you should take in mind -a healthy diet, meditation , and patience to see the results ;)
I love Creamed Spinach and broccoli... I can eat those all day long and they never effect me adversely. They are the only veg besides onion that I eat.
Pumpkin seeds are #1 concentration of magnesium for a food source. Other favorite foods for magnesium sources - avocados, spinach, bananas, walnuts, cashews, almonds, dark chocolate.

Just had a test that showed a 90% blockage in the artery supplying blood to one of my kidneys. Is taking a magnesium supplement going to be a problem for me?
My husband was on Naproxen for about 15 years due to chronic back problems. It gave him high blood pressure. After about 10 years a new gp said he should also be having Omeprazole. By then he a on three different blood pressure meds as well. He used to wake with bad leg cramps and I told him to take magnesium at night as he took the Omeprazole in the morning. It did help somewhat, but unfortunately it was too little too late. He died suddenly of a massive heart attack at the age of 56. 😔

Fulvic acid supposed to be good, too
I made a big pot of collard greens yesterday with turkey sausage, onion, and seasoning, and my son and I just gobbled them up, they were so good.

My heart was skipping or beating irregular. Starting taking magnesium taurate and the rhythm is steady after one week.

@@j-bro894 Oh cool. One last question. Are you still taking your magnesium on a regular basis.
Hi Dok many mgs of Magnesium should a person take daily...thank you...God bless

My husband was on Naproxen for about 15 years due to chronic back problems. It gave him high blood pressure. After about 10 years a new gp said he should also be having Omeprazole. By then he a on three different blood pressure meds as well. He used to wake with bad leg cramps and I told him to take magnesium at night as he took the Omeprazole in the morning. It did help somewhat, but unfortunately it was too little too late. He died suddenly of a massive heart attack at the age of 56. 😔
