Sabarimala Sri Ayyappan Temple is dedicated to the worship of Lord Ayyappan. Ayyappan is the son of Shiva and Mohini.
The temple is located in Pathanamthitta district in the Indian state of Kerala. Sabarimala is the place where Ayyappan sat in Tavakolam for the welfare of Kaliyuga people after destroying Mahishi. Here Ayyappan is also called Dharmashastha. The Duvajasthambam welcomes the devotees past the eighteen steps. Tathwamasi is written on the entry door of Ayyappan shrine.
Here Ayyappan is also known as Dharmashastha. He blesses the devotees who seek him. Lord Ayyappan with yoga mudra, seated with folded legs. Although there are many Shasta temples in India, Sabarimala is the most important temple. Sabarimala is also considered to be one of the five Shasta temples founded by Parasurama. The temple was established by a Tamil king named Rajasekara Pandyan.

சபரிமலை ஸ்ரீ ஐயப்பன் கோயில் பகவான் ஐயப்பனின் வழிபாட்டிற்காக அர்ப்பணிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது .

இக்கோயில் இந்தியாவின் கேரள மாநிலத்தில் உள்ள பத்தனம்திட்டா மாவட்டத்தில் அமைந்துள்ளது.
மகிஷியை அழித்த பிறகு கலியுகமக்களின் நன்னமை கருதி ஐயப்பன் தவக்கோலத்தில் அமர்ந்த இடமே சபரிமலை.
இங்கு தர்மசாஸ்தா என்றும் ஐயப்பன் அழைக்கப்படுகிறார். இவர் தன்னை நாடிவரும் பக்தர்களுக்கு அருளை வாரிவழங்குகிறார். பகவான ஐயப்பன் யோக சின் முத்திரையுடன், குத்துகாலிட்டு அமர்ந்தபடி அருள்புரிந்து வருகிறார். பதினெட்டு படிகளை ஏறியவுடன் பக்தர்களை வரவேற்பது கொடி மரம். ஐயப்பனின் சன்னிதி வாசலில் ‘தத்வமஸி’ என்ற வாசகம் எழுதப்பட்டுள்ளது. இந்த வார்த்தைக்கு ‘நீ எதை நாடி வந்தாயோ, அது நீயாகவே உள்ளாய்’ என்பது பொருள். உனக்குள்ளேயே இறைவன் இருக்கிறான். 41 நாட்கள் இருக்கும் விரதத்தை நாளும் நீ மேற்கொண்டால், நீயும் கடவுளே என்பதுதான் இதன் உண்மையான அர்த்தம்.
சாஸ்தாவின் பல கோவில்கள் இந்தியாவில் இருந்தாலும் அவற்றில் மிக முக்கியமான கோவிலாக சபரிமலை உள்ளது. மேலும் சபரிமலையில் பரசுராமரால் நிறுவப்பட்ட ஐந்து சாஸ்தா கோவில்களில் ஒன்றாக கருதப்படுகிறது. இக்கோவில் ராஜசேகர பாண்டியன் என்ற தமிழ் மன்னன்னால் நிறுவப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.
