A college degree will get you nowhere without taking action after you acquire the degree. I'll be honest with you, I have a business degree and nothing that I took in college is in use today. I learned more by taking action than I ever did in a classroom.

Evdog04 so true man, most college grads get jobs and careers in things that have nothing to do with their major. I know a guy who got a Psych degree, and is now a software engineer. I also realized that alot of communication and liberal arts majors work in banking nowadays.

When it comes to your career, sometimes it feels like you could use all the advice you can get. This so far is one of the best advice I've ever heard. Risk taking, and self awareness. I love the part where Gary Vee said, "Don't not do what you wanna do. Work for people that you want to be or do your own sh*t!" Turn your passion into your career and your dreams will become reality.

this advice promotes debt at a young age and also earning a low wage. Soon enough these ppl will graduate with 100k student loan/credit card/ home mortgage debt with low paying jobs, call up uncle Dave Ramsey for financial advice and realize they're FAWKED later down the road.
Following passion and career/personal development and earning a high income/ working for a living are not mutually exclusive. Find a happy medium.

Ok so this is what I did and it leaves me nowhere. I did a baccalaureat in communication and politic in montreal, but i did not had the grades to do stages. But I wanted to becamed journalist so after I subscribe to a certificate in journalism in 2009 2010. But then media newspaper crashed reducing personnal from 4 journalists in region to 1. So I lost my job after 3 months. Then only xp in my resume was 3 months of work.
I did 40 jobs interview for newspaper or cies searching for writers for different purpuses each time it was no xp no job
I got very sad and depressed then had medical issue due to ulcerative colitisis and was hospitalized and spend a year out.
Then I had 2 options trying again to be a journalist or adding management skills to communication skills. Suprisingly it serves me nothing.
    Still no job.
I know no one in media so i gave up this dream of being at la presse or radio canada etc.
I have no job since 7 years, I feel like my health issues have ruined my life but i mean I should be able to have a job other than working at grocery stores with 3 university diploma. I'm frustrated and I need help. But by the past I use to attended HR meeting giving advices but each time there advice are like be yourself but don't act like A B C in job interview..... all they are saying is for you to still be unemployed because if you got a job tben you won't need there help. Oh and they are very bad to help people with no or few job xp....
I have no hope at all in my life I'm educated I know a lot of things but no one cares about them.

I have some advice to share with college students. It's essential to start applying for internships early on and consider looking for job opportunities during your last semester. I regret not doing this myself. I recently graduated in July 2024 with a master's degree in HR. One of the biggest challenges I'm facing now is the lack of work experience. While in school, I worked at an Amazon warehouse, but it's not a job I particularly enjoy. My supervisor has been hindering my career advancement. I'm eager to work in an environment where I can engage with like-minded individuals, so I've decided to pursue substitute teaching. My goal is to establish a partnership with the school system and convey my ultimate career ambition to work in HR. The job market is tough, and I'm hoping to secure full-time employment before I have to start repaying my educational loans in January. I apologize for the lengthy message; it feels good to share these thoughts-it's almost like writing a discussion post.

    Feeling overwhelmed.
I graduated as a Financial Administrator and have been studying English for almost three years. I'm currently pursuing a Postgraduate Degree in Business Strategic Management and a Diploma in Financial Management. But guess what? I still don’t know what to do with my life. I feel scammed.
I’m planning to move to another country at 26 years old, with no relevant experience and no savings. I’m trying to get an entry-level job, but I feel like I don’t know anything yet, and no one is calling me for interviews. :(

Don’t give a single fuck about “oh this family got a degree” or “ we are stupid if you don’t go to university” nobody gives a fuck, don’t follow them.
