Try the Korean Mu - slightly less peppery and more meaty. (Easier to prep too since it's a larger veggie.) But absorbs the flavor and has fooled some potato lovers who don't like radishes. It's a great substitute! was a game changer for me!

I did them whole in the air fryer (salt, pepper and a bit of garlic) I also made a roast in the instant pot, once roast was done, i remove it (covered in tin foil) and then put the raddishes into the sauce, and did a 5 min both ways were so awesome. I see lots of people adding oil on the baking sheet.
It's much easier to put the pieces in a bowl, add oil, and stir them around. Season them in the bowl, too. Better coverage and distribution. Do that separately for each variety, in this case!
I really appreciate your taste test with different varieties, plus the turnip. Great video!
I've been watching a lot of vids about keto subs for potato. Can't wait to try these, next time I get groceries. Last night I was dreaming I was in the kitchen chopping up radishes and other veg to fry up.

I use daikon instead of potatoes in everything. They work great! I prefer either Indian or Latino spices. Especially like vindaloo and al pastor, both of which the daikon absorbs delightfully. You do have to simmer a bit longer to get a softer mouth feel. I also sometimes braise them in soy sauce. Yum!

Can't wait to try this. I'll probably check my ketones and blood sugar afterward to see how it works for me. I'm thinking I'll try the red radishes and the turnips, both of which I can get easily nearby. I've used turnips in place of potatoes in stew before, and might even try that with red radishes if I get used to trying them this way.
PS: Just checked the USDA web site, and turnips have about twice the net carbs that red radishes do (100g have about 5g net carbs, which I think is a lot) so I think I'll just try the red radishes. I also looked up daikon, and they were about the same as red radishes.

So, I make a carrot/radish/garlic type of puree for my salads and I always have a bunch of radishes left over so now i will be trying this out next time w/the radishes. I am so glad it was those because two of those I've never heard of and might be hard to find and they seem so easy to prepare...I'm excited to try this out, along w/the suggestion of cheese, bacon, sour cream and onions on one of these comments (good replacement for that same thing that used to be at jack in the box! lol).

parsley root and parsnip are great too! Parsley root is a bit better for keto because they have not as much carbs as parsnips. And there are two ways of making it: 1.directly after cutting into the deep fryer (or pan) or 2.first to blanch for a few minutes and then fry into the deep fryer (or pan).

I've always roasted turnips and love them. I just this week roasted red radishes and they are delicious too. The only downside is the costs. Potatoes are cheap. Radishes not so much. The poor have fewer options to go keto. I'm single so it's easier for me but if I had a family to feed I don't think I could afford it.

I’ve tried turnips and red radishes, and I agree, the red radishes taste more like a potato than a turnip. I didn’t bake mine. For both, I made faux fried potatoes and onions (separate times). The fried turnips were good, but the fried red radishes were really good. Since turnips are softer, I wonder if they’d make good faux mashed potatoes. 🤔

i knew you would say the radish and turnip. I've made radish chips they taste amazing and the turnip is a bit hardier so it can actually be used to make lasagna slice it thin and lay it flat. Also if you have tried kohlrabi yet then I suggest you do. You will never eat mashed cauliflower again.

New to the channel. And im glad I found you. I found out I was a diabetic and my doctor says go low carb but its hard to do. All the things I love is bad for me. But I was determined and I have been eating stuff I never thought I would eat. I have lost 50 plus pounds and still need to loose a little more. Im a potato eater and never thought about radishes which I love. Im going to try them how long would I cook then in an air fryer. And could I use a kohlrabi also? I'm so so glad i found your channel you have so many recipes im going to try. Thank you

Nice comparison of vegies, I mentioned in your video for cauliflower foetatoe salad to try red radishes, now you know why, texture and mildness in flavor are pretty close to the real thing. I have also seen radishes used as hash browns, haven't tried it yet but they looked really good. thanks for another GREAT video!
