Tip, trick, life hack. Take a nut (nut and bolt, not a peanut) one that will fit on the drill bit. Drill through one of the sides, tap it and screw a bolt in. Now fasten it to the drill bit at the desired depth you want to drill.

Love the look of 'em both. The red LP500 countach was my dream car as a kid. Must say though, while the red 82 looks superb you really brought that 71 prototype to life. As another commenter said, they remind me of the Transformers Sideswipe and Sunstreaker. Lots of nostalgia with these two.

They look incredible! I think you did a great job of turning them back into what the real cars look liked. They look like scale modes with the paint and new wheels. Using the silver weathering powder on the engine made it look very realistic.

I actually still have BOTH of these. I am a big fan of Lamborghini and the Countach. I absolutly love the original red with the green and black stripes. I think mine might have a yellow windscreen? The black... I could take it or leave it.
You are absolutely right about the yellow prototype. In fact there was exactly one, and you have the perfect shade of yellow. As time wore on modifications were made to that car because of overheating problems. I think those louvers on either side were silver, but they were replaced with the larger scoups we are all familiar with. Also the NCAA scoups were added into the doors. The car went into production, the wing (which is completely unnecessary) was added after a couple years "because it looked better". A bumper was added after a couple of years as well, followed shortly after with the air dam and fender flares. The prototype only survived for a couple of years and was destroyed in an insurance crash test.
Both of these cars look absolutely stunning, only thing about the yellow one that looks off is that blue glass, but nothing you can do about that. The red one is beautiful as well. The rims aren't that bad, easy to change those out later when you find better.

Looks great, though it would be nice to see additional details that Matchbox neglected to add on the original car such as the details of the door windows. The LP 500 S is supposed to have 3 separate pieces of glass in the door windows, all separated by black, and triangular piece in the front, and two long, more rectangular for the back 2/3 of the window. A little bit of black pain to fix that.

I have a red version of the LP500 with a black bull decal on the hood. However, I ruined it by dunking it in paint when I was very young. I was actually going to restore it, but the windscreen was completely ruined by the paint :(
