    My neighbor had pink Lamborghini from 1980 when I was 16. I couldn't afford it in my dreams but the neighbor was cool enough to give me a ride to school before he sold it

    I dont comment a lot, but for months ive been absorbing yours and others techniques, and ive been picking my local thrift shops for grab bags of cars, ive found old lesneys worth 10 to 30 bucks according to ebay, in 5 dollar grab bags, its awesome. THIS Lambo conversion is something ive been wanting to do with a couple of castings, not lambo ones but others like a VW and a truck ive found. but it was especially the paint techniques that grabbed my attention, the clear coat thru the airbrush, i had stripped and re painted a couple of castings with a metallic blue with silver flake, and clear coated them, and they look like they were basically dipped in resin lol, thank you, for all of your how to;s and tips, and in general, just taking the time to share.

    It shouldn't really matter for most of your models, as they're display pieces, but you can get superglue (cyanoacrylate) to bond much stronger using baking soda (sodium bicarbonate). The latter acts as an activator and increases strength of the adhesive; the combination of both can even be used as a filling cement of sorts! Just sprinkle it over the still wet superglue, and blow off the excess when dry. A little trick I picked up on a while ago, not sure if you're aware of it - just thought I'd share.

    Lamborghinis are so striking and powerful, they make a statement other sports cars just don't, most of the time a sports car attracts the eye by being beautiful to look at and alluring, but a Lamborghini gains your attention by instead making itself impossible to ignore. Really beautiful paint job, I especially liked the play between the red of the tail lights and the emerald.

    Excellent restoration to bring this gem back to life! What a Huge difference! Wow! Another favorite part of this video is 6:31 I know a lot of customizers that fail on this part. I've noticed my customs have been coming out much better allowing the paint and the clear coat a 'few days' to cure. A know a lot of people are impatient 😄

  • @Chris.Davies

    Unfortunately, you wrecked the Countach's signature rear wheel arch shape. And the LP400 predated the low-profile, ultra-wide tyres which did not arrive until years later, with the prodigious 345/35 rear wheels.
    Also, the LP400 predated the pushed-out wheel look, and the original cars had plenty of space between the wheel arches and the tyres.
    But you were kind of screwed from the start. Only the LP400 had the periscope roof, which is correct for your car, but wrong for the model they advertised it as.
    Ah well, it looks good, anyway!

    • @Tommyblueeyes
      @Tommyblueeyes 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There WAS only a couple of production Lp400s's that still had the periscopa before they canned it. Youre right about the wheels though, they were naturally very skinny on the lp400.

    Awesome work - my new favourite video of yours! Love how you managed to recapture the clean lines or the original unmolested Gandini design. Really noticed the effect of picking out the panel lines too. As for the lowering job - brilliant. Really pleased you swapped out the nasty flat Renault Fuego style rims for some proper deep dish versions too - in fact would have liked some info on the wheels in the vid.

    Even though I was out of my childhood collecting phase when this HW car was released, I do remember it and I laughed in agreement when you commented to the effect of how HW managed to make an iconic car of the 1980's so bland. And while I am not a Lamborghini guy, what you did with your modifications to the original design is simply incredible. I had to do a double take when you show the model with modifications in the primer stage. The final results are impressive, and the tips are, as usual, very, very helpful. THANKS!!!

    You may want to pick up a set of diamond cut off wheels for a dremel. They would have made this project much easier. They cut just about anything(glass included) and do a narrow cut. A 10pc set(clear box/yellow base) can be had for under $15. I use them on my quads all the time.

  • @shredBucketheadshred
    @shredBucketheadshred 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    looks good but I wish you put a ll more effort into finishing those arches, the rear needed filling to get the exact round shape you wanted and the rear deck has a mold line it in still, I myself would have filled and corrected the door pillars above the glass too as it looks like its cast very open for ease of assembly that you get get around by hand. BUT saying that I would have most likely just bought a better version as even as a kid I knew this version wasn't very good ( I had a colour change one) and always thought my corgi version was better, hell I even recently bought some dollar store versions that are really accurate

    That's a really nice custom. You can't really go wrong with retro exotics. While I was here, I wanted to ask you if you were aware that someone reuploaded this video on their channel, muted the audio, and wrote in the description that *the custom you did was theirs.* They gave you no credit, and seeing how hard you worked on this, I'd assume you wanted your work credited. I just wanted to tell you that, if you gave permission to them, or if you want to reach out to them for stealing your work. I'll add the link to the video in reply to this comment. Nice job on the custom, though. Keep up the great work!

      Hey Ryan... yes please add the link so I can file the copyright claim... I have to file about 6-10 a week due to people re-uploading my videos.

      +baremetalHW wow really?!? Have you contacted the people who steal your videos and what do they say?

    Love the green but would have done a black, white or tan interior. Yellow would look awesome with the red interior, that's just me though. Great work bud.
