Job to believe anyone could choose the Audi over the Jag, I had my I-pace for over 2 years, fantastic in all respects and its doesn't look like a box on wheels.
Great video. I have driven the Audi Etron and yes it’s very good but I did buy the I-Pace so maybe that tells you where I’m coming from. Just one massive problem, in Wales we are still in lockdown so I can’t get out in it. But it will outclass a lot of sports cars.
Thanks very much! Luckily I have great roads between home and the supermarket, so have been able to get a feel for the Audi. You're right, though: in terms of performance and handling, you have to move into "sports car" territory to get close to the Jaguar.
Could have gone for the E-tron but choose the I-Pace instead. MUCH better looking car, much better driving feel in the I-Pace. Better economy too. The E-tron has always looking cumbersomely big on the outside, it is a very big blob of metal. It might be slightly quieter on the inside, but the I-Pace is quiet too and at some point enough is enough. Somehow, the E-tron is selling much better but that's probably all company cars getting leased by people who don't know any better than just to go along with everybody else. The ONLY advantage the Audi has is that it will charge faster at a fastcharger. That said, I have only used a fascharger about three times in the last 12 months and even then for no more than 15 minutes. So, for me at least, that advantage would have been hardly worth it.
Thanks for your thoughts. The other thing I noticed about the speed of charging: to take advantage of 150kW makes it VERY expensive - almost 5 x the cost of the average domestic per kWh price... ouch!
while the range of the Audi is slightly lower it is nonetheless better for very long drive because it’s DC fast charging is much faster and there is an option for a 22kw ac charging which really widen your semi fast charging options. I also own a i-Pace 2019 and while the slower DC never bothered me I wish it had a 22kw ac option (they’ve gone from 7kw to 11kw from the MY2021 onwards).
I have to admit. I'm with you on the cameras for the wing mirror. I don't see an issue with a standard mirror. My partner has been talking about getting and SUV and Jaguar has been in her top 3. Definitely worth a think on switching to electric. Nice to see your presenting skills are still being used from the Hot 30 days 👍🏻 Grant.

Our other car is a Model 3 Performance so we have that for the fun/fast/nimble driving experience and the e-tron is for when we want something that emphasizes spacious/refined/quiet.
The only issue I see with side mirrors is this. When I drive and look into my driver's or passenger's side mirror, by myself leaning forwards or backwards or just moving my head about, I get a more expansive picture of what's behind me. You can't do that with the Audi. Unless, that is, you keep having to alter them and then return them to their original driving position(s). Which you're not doing to keep doing when you may need that extra bit of rear vision out of them. The rear vision is fixed. That aside, I do like the Jaguar. Easily the best looking EV SUV on the market with enough range for UK roads. And it's British too 8-))...
Test drove model s, audi etron before I test drove an i-pace..... i-pace is superior in every aspect outside of charge rate and range, not on the audi. Ipace is an absolute beast on the curves and easy on the eyes. Real shame JLR are morons and never updated. Companies vehicle for them, and honestly, when has jaguar ever been run properly. I would do another if they bu.ped range to 300 and proper DC charging.... would add that the video mirror is a step down as by simply tilting your head, you can expand field of vision which is simply better
I’m told Jaguar is going fully electric from 2025, and I really hope they’ll achieve what you’ve suggested: real-world 300 miles and some ultra-rapid charging. I have no doubt they’ll drive like monsters!! (Like the Seinfeld reference, by the way - one of the funniest episodes!)
I'd pick the IPace any day, and not just over the e-tron, but of any electric car. One thing that annoys me a bit about many electric cars is that some functions seem to be high tech for the sake of being high tech, like Tesla's. Audi's virtual door mirrors cost over a grand as an optional extra and it seems their only real benefit is to lessen wind resistance and get a few miles extra range, which doesn't seem worth it to me. The Jag definitely looks like a more old fashioned, yet modern driving experience, My dream car.
Hi Jimbob, You've pretty much touched on my point, too: it's got the styling and look of something we can love, and yet up to date. I hope you get to experience one, because it's a genuine love affair... but I'm still offering an unbiased opinion... ;-) Simon
@@thesimondale I've heard reviews saying the Audi errs on the practical side, whereas the Jag is more fun. Although what about the frunk? Is it big enough for charging cables? It just seems to be a glaring design flaw to designate the cable compartment under the boot floor. Imagine going on a road trip and you have to unload your luggage when you stop to charge your car.
I Pace every day for me, looks way sexier than the e tron, also drives much better. The e tron just looks boring. I’ve just ordered my I pace HSE which is arriving next month, can’t wait!!

I however bought the E-Tron "S" and I would say it matches the IPace performance wise, even slightly better. Between the I-Pace and the E-Tron, I do prefer the Audi infotainment system and I found it also more quite (slight difference). The I-Pace one pedal driving is however sportier than Audi's predictive driving where the car decides for you when to regenerate according the to shape of the road.
