Fair impartial review. I agree. Jag gets my vote all day. 1 thing - jags NVH and range is adversely affected by those 22” rims (nice as they are), so not apples to apples ...but I’m splitting hairs.
You also might have mentioned that the Jag is trail rated as well. It can go 22 inches deep in the water, (and retain it's warranty) and has an, "off road" mode too!
I own both an I-Pace and a Tesla (Model 3). I also test drove the Audi e-tron and a Model X (my previous car was a Q5 TDI) before making my purchase. I found the Model X more expensive, fugly interior, too large and slower (only the Performance one was faster off the line, but it's still a barge). I really did like the AuotPilot and the range. The Audi was fair but I didn't really feel it. It felt like a first attempt. The Jag surprised me in a good way, it handled the best, it's AutoPilot equivalent was pretty good (not quite as good as Tesla) but not bad at all. Fair on range, superior luxury and quality of materials, sexy styling and good price (for its class). In the US, the Jag is selling for 10K off + 7500 back on your taxes. When I got mine, Jag offered free financing (don't know if the still do). That made it significantly cheaper than Tesla which came in almost 20K more before the financing savings which add several more dollars. I had thought of waiting for the Taycan but I knew it wasn't going to cost a mint. If I had 3 kids and did a ton of family vacations I might have went for the Tesla due to its range. But with my kids in college, (my son snatched the Model 3) I found the Jag was perfect. I plan on keeping it until solid-state batteries come out at which time I'll reevaluate.
@@kevinmsft so will the model 3. Once solid state is out in quantity, first gens will drop like a brick. Remember the 3G iPhones, they were great until 4G, then, who wants them, no one.
@Jasonsenipor do you have sources on dropping used Model 3 prices? Just anecdotally, it's difficult to find any model 3s on Craigslist in the Pacific Northwest, Carvana and Vroom.
I drive the E-tron and will say the following: 1. With my driving pattern, it doesn't really matter if the range is 190 or 210 miles, I will only notice the difference a few times per year. 2. Charging pace is just as important as range. What's the benefit of 10% extra range if the car charges 30% slower? Every time I stop at an Ionity station, I laugh at VW owners who have to spend 2-3 times longer there. 3. Don't know about the UK but in my market, the second charging port is an optiional extra. 4. It's certainly not a sporty car but definitely relaxing. 5. As a family man, I really need the extra cabin and boot space that the Audi offers. Driving the Jaguar would be an annoyance on every weekend getaway and I would constantly have to use a roofbox to store things that didn't fit in the boot.
Jag released an over the air update which improved range by 9% from regenerative breaking software they developed in formula E, so the range has actually increased since this car was new. No additional cost. No increase in battery size or weight. I’ve driven the E Tron and while it’s impressive, it feels cumbersome and heavy and only in sport mode does it feel nippy. It’s very dulled down in E mode. And that front boot area is very archaic as mentioned.
If I were looking for a new electric car, I would choose the I Pace. I have a Chevy Bolt and I enjoy the heck out of it. 238 - 245 miles of range in the Summer and about 180 miles in the Winter.
Jaguar brings best of all me personally. Loved the ride of my old Jag, i’d assume this is nothing but better. Now, i’d usually always take an Audi interior over Jaguar. Jaguar feels little cheaper inside. Though it seems they put a lot of quality and better looking interior in the I-pace. It’s nice compared to the rest of their line-up.
You buy with your heart not head. My head says Jag due to range, price and performance. My heart screams JAG for fun!!!!!. Being a pensioner I ought to go for the somewhat 'middle aged' image of the Audi except it just looks well 'middle aged'. A 62 year old solicitors car.
There seems to be an assumption that people who want to go electric want a sports car, i’v no interest at how fast it can go 0-60 , I want a great feeling car that’s comfortable and easy to drive , I test drove the jag and it was great ! But soooo much plastic and don’t get me started on the laggy screens, the Audi in terms of interior was light years ahead of the jag! Super plush materials butter smooth screens too. I’m just waiting for the eqc test drive before I make a decision but for me , Audi is way more comfortable then the jag. What is t mention here is the fact the jag charge for everything you wails want for this price range I.e electric boot blind spotting, cruise control eg by the time you add them on the price between the Audi and jag are a lot more closer. Food for thought
I think the eqc is the most comfortable of them all with the best interior and functions, but you pay the price for it when it comes to range. I wanted a bigger jag suv the ipace looks like a glorified hatch and I also heard it takes a lot of time to charge. The etron looks great tho
Simple I pay for range and speed .screen for children who wanna play video games .jag is practical car in cheep rate .now ppl now modify jag interior and full there both need

As someone who owns the I-Pace, here are some tidbits. 1. Demand the latest software (19B) or higher. The older versions were buggy. They have fixed a ton of bugs, still have a few but no longer annoying. 2. Get a home charger. The one they provide takes forever to charge (at least in the US). 3. Take it out for a spin. It handles great, really good. For giggles, I raced my friend who has an older Cayman S. I beat him. LOL. I told him I can beat him with a 65" TV in the back. 4. When you drive like a nut, the guestimates on range go way down (as expected). When you decide to go back to normal, turn on the car (but don't press the brake pedal) then press both pedals and hold them down for 10 seconds, this causes the guess-o-meter to reset.

Good review thanks, but for me the I Pace is way ahead. Longer range, quicker, lighter, better handling and less money, these are the important points that matter. Yes the interior matters but both are very good, storage space in both is adequate and not a deal breaker. The Jaguar name still carries some prestige, although they have a poor reliabilty record, obviously this Jag is too new to have any real history of reliability.
The I-Pace is a stunning car to look at, insanely comfortable and the best drive experience in an EV in my experience. The only downside I see is range/charging time but if you’re not doing a lot of mileage it doesn’t get much better than the I-Pace
I appreciate the EPA estimates seem to be the most accurate vs others. I'd rather it be conservative and hit it 99% of the time. My '18 i3S Rex 94A in my 70% freeway 30% city 59mi daily commute, I arrive to work at 75-78%, after driving 29 miles very consistently. So that's easily beating the EPA figure of 97mi. I love the etron, its range is just so disappointing (204mi EPA). My lease is up in a year, I want a long range etron (300+ miles).... Good video!
Since this video Jaguar has pushed out some seriously good OTA updates that improves range a decent amount and improving the infotainment system too. The one thing I have to disagree on is the Comfort rating. A lot of people I know, including myself, think the Audi seats just aren't that comfortable for long rides. I-Pace seats are so comfortable
Buying a car is like this: Your wallet decide which cars to choose from, your head decides which one is the better option and your wife decides which car you pick.
I do like your miles per Kilowatt hour. It’s an intelligent measure of efficiency. You should also use miles per hour to rate the charging. Not the obtuse % of charge rating which is nonsensical and used on purpose by every electric car maker with inferior charge capability because it hides their shortcomings.
The E-Tron shows mph on the charging status screen... They're not hiding anything. Tesla has over a decade of experience making EVs... did you really expect the competition to match Tesla from day one?
I love the Jaguar drive yet it’s somewhat let down by the high speed charging which (assuming avaibility of 150 kw charger) is twice as fast with the Audi, which unlike Jaguar is a member of Ionity which is starting to have a good coverage in continental europe, especially north of Switzerland where I live. one can still charge at Ionity without being a member but at a steep price, I mean steeper than a gaz guzzling V8 ! Loved you review which sums well both cars
I have a Jaguar F-Pace 20d from 2016 that my wife drives, and it's going to be replaced by a E Tron Sportback 55 quattro. It's the first and last Jaguar I'll ever buy. It only has 30k miles yet: - problems with the dpf filter, which is needing to be replaced, already set off the fire alarm of my garage a few times - I chose a manual hoping to be more reliable, but at 10k miles the clutch had to be replaced, always getting a stuck clutch pedal - at 5k miles (!!!) it was making loads of noise in the cabin when starting and accelerating, eventually complained, and the frigging engine mounts had to be replaced - the mounts of the exhaust system had to be replaced - cheap plastic materials for the price point - and now finally, the engine light is coming intermittently, probably because of the dpf filter and the well known oil dilution problem of the ingenium diesel engine. Jaguar's solution? Advice people against buying their diesel engines. All of this on my wallet! Can't wait to sell it. Had an Audi A5 for 8 years, no problems in more than 120k miles, now my A6 Avant C8 already has 24k miles in less than a year and no issues. JLR can go bankrupt for all I care.
The review is missing two vital variables that will matter to most modern car buyers. How good are the infotainment systems and how good are the active safety features and driver's assist systems?
Like you can't compare Model X with them as people who wants to buy E-Tron, I-Pace (like I did) or EQC (EQC is not sold yet) wants to have premium car and there is nothing premium about Tesla, when you sit inside it feels like Dacia or Fiat Panda, super cheap and badly build and instead of real leather they use this plastic thing. No thank you, for that money I wouldn't buy it, only Tesla which makes sense is Model 3 as its cheaper car and don't expect anything premium from it.
@@TravelwithPavel iyou can compare model X with them because price, performance, range, and especially tech are on tesla side while something better plastic in front of dasboard and badge are on their side
I think they are both close, I would say personal preference is the decider.... question is would you buy one and then regret you couldn't buy the other (not that you'd be disappointed with your choice!!!!)
How are software updates handled? Are they treated like traditional ICE vehicles or are they taking the Tesla approach and driver's can expect to get updates throughout the life of the car?
Just feel like if the system of charging is different like gas stations or just like replacable batteries from battery station in the place of gas station.
I hate it when people compare these two cars like this sure they are SUV’s but they are completely different clientele and while the Audi may be more a electron guzzling car it matches most of its brands believes where owners don’t really worry about range as long as it does the weekend getaway with the family in comfort
What lets this car down, and many others (excepting Tesla) is that the car manufacturers rely on third party electrical charge station suppliers leading to problems such as differing plug points, charging time, having to download apps. to use the charger, if you find a charger suitable for your car. Look at Tesla who have their own charge points over a growing number of places, simply scan your bank card and charge your car. Unless other manufacturers follow suit then Tesla will be the less hastle car to have in regard to charging your battery. Maybe manufacurers can emulate Tesla in uniformity of charging stations for charging any brand of vehicle ( petrol cars have a uniform petrol entry port enabling fills at any station irrespecrive of station owner) but don't hold your breath.
So the Jag is a bit quicker and more 'nimble', but the Audi is better in every other aspect? so similar range, similar charging, but the Audi is bigger, comfier, softer, more practical, has far better build quality inside, better software and screens, nicer seats, and looks far better etc. I think too much effort in this video was put into being biased towards the Jag because its 'faster' off the line, whereas in the real world no one drives like that, as long as its quick enough to overtake safely, that's all that matters, and the Audi is more than quick enough.
I choose the Audi, I don't need a punch when accelerating, my passengers don't want a punch, comfort comfort comfort is all we need. Ok, of course I would also like to take the range of the Jag.
How about UK city and car parking? Please compare turning circles, and widths. I suspect neither will pass a 6 6 restriction or be able to do a tight u turn on the ever increasing number of mini roundabouts.
The Ipace is 1890mm wide so just over 6'2" and height 1565 mm so well under restrictions. Turning circle of the IPace is 12.4m I don't know what you're looking for, it ain't a london taxi at 8.5m but how many cars are.
Thank you for this. I still would take the Audi over the Jag any day. In fact, just yesterday went to my local Audi dealer to order the Etron Prestige. Can’t wait to get it 👍🏻
Drove both, and chose the Audi. It is so comfortable, and I disagree with the review regards being fun to drive. The Audi is fun to drive, and feels rapid considering its weight and family focus. Faster than our outgoing range rover sport for sure.
That drag race drove stake thru audi lovers, christ would the nissan leaf done better? prefer the jag drive too, and the range, also the cable storage in the audi is laughable..not even close to me jaguar hands down and I aint a Jag fan either tbh.
@@GregHassler The port on the driver's side is a 11kWh on board charger, the optional one on the passenger's side is a 22kW charger. I own an e-Tron and it has the 11kW charge port only. To have the other one would have cost a further 450 Euros.
@@dangerdackel maybe it's different in Europe, the option doesn't exist in the US that I can see, I went through their entire configurator on their website.
I have had an i pace since last October. I love driving it but sadly it has been besieged with battery and ‘engine issues’. It has spent 7 weeks off the road so far and on Friday I had to wave goodbye as it left on the back of a tow truck ....... again! 😫
We are living in UK where we have to abide the speed limit of the road so we need a comfort car not a sports car. That’s why my vote is for Audi E Tron.
The WLTP figures are never accurate for range. If you want accurate range figures for electric vehicles then look at the US EPA ratings. I find the EPA ratings are almost always spot with the real world range.
Am not sure I agree with you. I am getting way better range than the EPA out of my I-Pace. On average about 284 miles over the last two months. That's only about 10 miles less than the WLTP rating. That said, if you look at the way the EPA rating is calculated (check the details they use for EV's), I am not surprised.

- I chose a manual hoping to be more reliable, but at 10k miles the clutch had to be replaced, always getting a stuck clutch pedal
- at 5k miles (!!!) it was making loads of noise in the cabin when starting and accelerating, eventually complained, and the frigging engine mounts had to be replaced
- the mounts of the exhaust system had to be replaced
- cheap plastic materials for the price point
- and now finally, the engine light is coming intermittently, probably because of the dpf filter and the well known oil dilution problem of the ingenium diesel engine.
How good are the infotainment systems and how good are the active safety features and driver's assist systems?
no doubt jag is the winner, its functionality, performance and especially looks is unbeatable
What about the cell chemistry in the battery packs?
Great review, on point
That's how you do it, great comparison.
Do you have a comparison between E-tron and EQC?
It will be an even more interesting comparison to add in a Tesla and the Mercedes EQC
Tesla are much more quickier then this two and have more range
@@Mr11ESSE111 And larger.
@@itechiwizard83 then even better for Tesla
Jaguar 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧👍
Jaguar & Range Rover = TATA = India. Sorry...
It's built in Austria
I think they are both close, I would say personal preference is the decider.... question is would you buy one and then regret you couldn't buy the other (not that you'd be disappointed with your choice!!!!)
I LOVE JAG ALSO, NICE POWERFUL CAR, I LIKE IT, WELL DONE 👍👍😍😍😍
Can you pleqse give EV efficiency in kWh/100km too?
How are software updates handled?
Are they treated like traditional ICE vehicles or are they taking the Tesla approach and driver's can expect to get updates throughout the life of the car?
i-Pace is certainly a back to dealer one for upgrades... rather poor!
With the latest update, OTA updates for the Jag are active.
Just feel like if the system of charging is different like gas stations or just like replacable batteries from battery station in the place of gas station.
Jaguar is the best by a mile
They’re both short range for the US market where distances are A lot greater between destinations
Jag is more fun but audi more comfortable
How do the seats compare?
I drove both cars, I have to say that the jag feels way faster, but the e tron is much more fun to drive and the interior quality is way better.
More fun? Let me direct you to 7:48
I hate it when people compare these two cars like this sure they are SUV’s but they are completely different clientele and while the Audi may be more a electron guzzling car it matches most of its brands believes where owners don’t really worry about range as long as it does the weekend getaway with the family in comfort
If I win the lottery, I will buy a Jag. Thanks.
Jag#1
Audi is just an electric Audi - Jag is special
E-tron!!
Can’t wait for the Mustang Mach E
I choose the Audi, I don't need a punch when accelerating, my passengers don't want a punch, comfort comfort comfort is all we need. Ok, of course I would also like to take the range of the Jag.
Great Video Comparison. Looking forward to the Video Review of the New Mercedes EQ C coming soon
Whats with driving offroad?
Which one will catch fire and explode first? My bet is on the I Pace!
Audi...
@0:10 That is the same location as the one in End of the f***n world where they are hitchhiking!
Very good indeed
You didn't note the cheap plastic on the area between the seats in the Audi.
A fair review but aimed at different markets. Why so few reviews of EVs on a channel called ‘Drive Electric’
because not enough full EV cars in the world for a weekly sceduled car review videos in a channel that's been around for quite some time now..
hellmekun , videos and reviews can be on many better EV related subjects than ICE vehicles :-)
@@JohnKellett_kreativarchitects well for me, phev is stil better then ICE so so problem here :)
What's her name? She is a brilliant reviewer, I want to follow her.
How do you know what they are like when neither has any service history?
JAGUAR ❤️❤️💪
How about UK city and car parking? Please compare turning circles, and widths. I suspect neither will pass a 6 6 restriction or be able to do a tight u turn on the ever increasing number of mini roundabouts.
The Ipace is 1890mm wide so just over 6'2" and height 1565 mm so well under restrictions. Turning circle of the IPace is 12.4m I don't know what you're looking for, it ain't a london taxi at 8.5m but how many cars are.
@@Payteer check the jaguar web site or measure the width. Excluding mirrors according to jaguar it's 2011 mm wide.
I would say, if you did add air suspension to the Jag, then it can do a bit of off road driving.
air springs always fail for longevity
Why does the Audi temporarily changes alloys at 4:03 !!??
Did she really say she had to scroll down to dynamic setting so wouldn’t bother? JFC.
There's nothing says I've arrived more than a jag.
That drag race drove stake thru audi lovers, christ would the nissan leaf done better? prefer the jag drive too, and the range, also the cable storage in the audi is laughable..not even close to me jaguar hands down and I aint a Jag fan either tbh.
I put mine in eco mode all the time
The second charging port on the Audi is an optional extra and both cannot be used together. Why not mention this?
It's not optional
@@GregHassler The port on the driver's side is a 11kWh on board charger, the optional one on the passenger's side is a 22kW charger. I own an e-Tron and it has the 11kW charge port only. To have the other one would have cost a further 450 Euros.
@@dangerdackel maybe it's different in Europe, the option doesn't exist in the US that I can see, I went through their entire configurator on their website.
My i-pace is sound and reliable... many trolls on these message board. Ignore the idiots on line and go with your heart. Best car I've ever had.
Nah I think it looks like every other Audi, its the Jag for me thanks.
Jag is the best electric car in the world period. Help save the planet and buy one.
Its Not,Period.

SO>>>>>>> i pace or f pace ?
The WLTP figures are never accurate for range. If you want accurate range figures for electric vehicles then look at the US EPA ratings. I find the EPA ratings are almost always spot with the real world range.
Am not sure I agree with you.
I am getting way better range than the EPA out of my I-Pace. On average about 284 miles over the last two months. That's only about 10 miles less than the WLTP rating. That said, if you look at the way the EPA rating is calculated (check the details they use for EV's), I am not surprised.
