I'm glad you tell us honestly how they really taste. A lot of recipes out there are always like "they taste like the real thing!" and then I make it and it's not similar at all.

this is why i dont compromise when it comes to certain food, like donuts. i just cant. if i'm going to have a donut, it has to be the real thing. i'll trek to Peter Pan Donuts in Greenpoint Brooklyn NYC. literally nothing, and i mean NOTHING is comparable. krispy creme and dunkin are a sugar infested joke compared to this mom and pop shop. i'll get on my bike, pedal for an hour to get there, buy 2 donuts, eat one there with coffee, then pedal back. i would have likely burned off the calories of the first one, and i'll save the 2nd one for the next morning. what makes these special is that they use wayyyy less sugar the the chain donut shops.

I love that you are completely honest about whether or not the recipes really taste like the "real" full-carb deal. I wish more keto cooking/baking channels would be honest about it, but unfortunately a vast majority of them seem to fib quite a lot about it.
I don't know if they're trying to fool themselves or fool the viewers but they just aren't being honest when they say it tastes just like the real thing. The dishonesty bugs me when I've gotten all excited and bought the ingredients for a small fortune and three hours baking, and then.. it comes out tasting nothing like what I was promised. Oftentimes they taste good in their own rights, but please, keto TH-cam cooks and bakers, stop saying it's "just like the real thing" if it isn't.

@@twinklestar4814 Sorry, you can reverse NON insulin (or insulin) dependant TYPE 2 diabetes (Food related) with Keto/low carb (My A1C was 8.2 and in 6 months it went to 5.4. Lots of anecdotal evidence out there). This individual will ALWAYS require insulin so it wont get rid of her diabetes. Low carb diets are ok BUT it is difficult to manage for TYPE 1 diabetics. Type 1 diabetes produces ZERO insulin. Type 2 (either insulin or non insulin dependant) diabetics produce SOME insulin but the insulin we produce is resistant to the glucose we have in our systems. Reducing the amount of carbs we take will reduce the amount of glucose in our systems which in turn allows insulin to become less resistant to glucose. Type 1 diabetes is mostly juvenile onset and families with young children who are type 1 have a very difficult time managing the HIGHS and especially the LOWS of type 1. Keto diets for type 1 would be difficult to manage due to lower volumes of carbs. Listen to Dr. Jason Fung, he will educate you on Keto/Low carb especially in Type 1 people.

I have willpower with everything BUT doughnuts. I love them. I don't care what kind they are, I will eat any of them, at any time and be totally unbiased. I am an equal opportunity doughnut eater. Love your videos - it doesn't hurt that you're so easy on the eyes either. Just wanted to mention a tip - when baking with empty wells (in a muffin tin or anything like it), add a tbsp of water to each of the empty ones to keep the pan from warping over time. Though you think it would make things soggy, the steam can actually cause a bit of crisping on the top (that's how they get French bread so crispy on the outside).

My daddy always said modern eggs were so much more fragile than the ones from years ago - and he was right. The shells are thinner and the yolks are light yellow. The “expensive” cage free, etc eggs are tastier and have much thicker and harder shells. From a chicken’s point of view, thicker shells means more likely the chicks will hatch.

I made a waffle version of the Cinnamon Donuts recipe
All I did was sub out the almond flour with Carbquick 1:1 and it came out waaayyy better than I expected. Pretty perfect actually.
I recommend using a waffle as the bread for absolutely killer peanut butter and sugar free jelly sandwich.

I made a keto doughnut recipe similar to the one here months ago. It was actually named "Copycat Krispy Kreme Doughnuts" and the day I made them they were "okay" but NOTHING like a Krispy Kreme. However, the next day, they were SOOOO much better and I could tell why they deserved the name. Recently I tried another recipe with the same name. After baking them, I decided to deep fry half of them to see what effect it had. The deep fried ones were great, and also turned a beautiful golden brown versus the pale yellow eggy look the baked ones had. Thank you for what you do, I love all your work!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I took your suggestion. I made the cinnamon doughnuts form All day I dream about food, and Caroline's icing. I used a babycakes mini doughnut maker and 2 minutes the toothpick came out clean, but I think 3 minutes browned them up a bit better. It made 28 mini doughnuts, which came out to 3 doughnuts for 2 net carbs. They were super yummy, next time I may do a simple powdered 'sugar' and cream glaze instead. I thought the butter in the icing was a bit overwhelming, but come on it's butter so it was yummy!
