I had the privilege of doing a tire change on the side of the interstate a few weeks ago with my Maverick hybrid. For being the included tools, they were perfectly serviceable and did a fine job. I was pulled up on a berm a little to get away from traffic, and it’s worth noting that it’s probably a good idea to keep a small 2x4 on hand to place under your Jack to ensure you can get the truck high enough if you’re not on perfectly flat ground. I almost ran out of travel and barely got my spare on due to the passenger side being elevated slightly on the berm. I agree that we need a split seat back at the very least. I had to take my 9 month old out of his car seat, remove the seat and have him sit with my wife in the passenger seat while I did the tire change. Thanks to the PA state police’s “shift change” there was nobody to come help divert traffic for safety so we were pretty vulnerable. It’s also worth noting that the full size spare has a couple variations rated for different speeds. Mine was the one rated for 70mph so it was good for intestate travel to get home.
Had a similar experience three years ago on I 25 just North of Santa Fee NM. Nearly a dozen NM state and county police cars passed by while I changed a flat. All the while traffic passed perilously close at 80 +. Not one officer stopped.
I like the under seat storage area even if it restricts access if car seats are mounted. It's noteworthy that the mini spare limitations are 50mph and 50 miles of travel on most vehicles. The owner's manual for my 22' Maverick (page 348) says, "T-type mini-spare: This spare tire begins with the letter T for tire size and may have Temporary Use Only molded in the sidewall.". No speed or distance information are given. Thanks for providing us one of the most informative Maverick Monday videos to date. The body colored B pillars still look great. One-of-a-kind. I bet it sells this week. Footnote: the window sticker is not available when clicking on the QR code. I did access it in the Carfax link. The VIN ends in 72298. Avalanche is a great color.
Tim I dropped my Maverick spare tire. Added a valve tire stem extension, then I installed a spare tire cover on the spare tire. Then with the valve stem extension I cut a small slit in cover to check my spare tire pressure. The spare tire cover keeps the tire, rim, the spare tire crank down mechanism from rusting from the road salt, snow & water. Just thought. So far after one year installed & verified it all looks like new still. Great video, thanks
How about placing the wrapped jack package under the passenger front seat by pushing it under the seat from the rear of front seat. There is no other place to put the jack. How about mounting or securing the jack under the hood. I plan on purchasing a complete fifth tire and rim and keeping it covered and mounted in the bed. I would only have it in the bed if I’m on a long trip. This would allow for not having to rush repairs in that I have a “truly full size spare.” It does make for a costly spare but that’s my solution.
I have an idea for your next maverick Monday. Pre collision warning. Mine went off when someone stopped short in front of me. I didn't even know I had it.
Why don’t you just go through the actual changing tire and explain while you are changing tire. A lot of people learn by actually seeing and explaining at the same time.
Here’s the things that drive me out of my mind and I suspect others ??? They have all of these people that are making a but load of money That are designing sections of cars are trucks ?? No split bench seat that Tim has mentioned, and a f-ing bolt that is so that stupidly Long ? Who did that ? Who is in charge of overseeing what is being built ? You say no big deal ? Really ! How about every thing else that goes into building a vehicle ??? I guess it’s my politically correct for me to mention such a small thing . Thanks for reading
As a new Maverick owner I'll add a few things to the list: the "LOUD" double honk if you get out of a running truck with the fob in your pocket (that you can't turn off), the inability to permanently turn off the auto engine auto stop feature (!), no auto lock feature when you walk away from the truck (like on most other cars I've owned...

Nice video Tim. This will help the masses. 😊
If you flip the lug nut wrench around while lowering the spare you can rotate it faster/easier.
I think the strap is to tie down your flat tire in the bed instead of putting it back under the truck.
Roadside assistance can take hours to show up. I use the stock location on all of my vehicles to store my jack.

Thank you! Good video & information!
Nice, informative video! Thanks so much! 🙂👍
My kids always like to ride in the bed in the back so the whole car seat issue isn't a problem for me.
Good info.
If Ford wants you to chalk the wheels, they should provide the chalk.
No car seats so I’ll leave it where it sits behind the seat.
I was thinking the same thing about chalks.
Tire Chocks, chalk is what you used to use on blackboards...
I am all for the split seats. Ford could have made the bed cubby bigger and put it there. .................the thing i hate is the dial shifter
I pay a lot of money every year for roadside assistance. You have to cash in once in awhile.

Time. The video would have probably been a 30 minute video versus a 13 minute video.
Fun wen it's 10below 0
I realize that the manufacturers recommended specs are gospel. That being said, is 148 ft/lbs on the lug nuts truly necessary?
The jack ! Wow the instructions just like a nightmare. Never again not on the road .Dangerous
I find it odd that you are a ford salesman and did not find out what all the parts are for when changing a tire.
@jeffbarx Thanks for watching.
