Not bad for running on street tires. It doesn't have the ground clearance to do more technical trails, but there are plenty of places you could go in a Maverick. A lot of forest service roads aren't much worse than gravel back roads. Just use a little common sense and have fun.
@@OverlandFlorida they need to get a grip. I’ve had a CJ7, a VW Baja Bug, F250 4X4, several F150 4X4’s a 78 Power Wagon with Full Time 4WD 4Speed Manual and so on… This Truck is just fun and plenty capable
@@jeffreysmall8902 They also had solid axles. The unibody isn't an issue, but the suspension is a limiting factor. I'm kind of surprised that no one has come out with a long arm lift kit for the Maverick yet. If you could get more clearance and travel it would do pretty well off-road.
Hey brotha I absolutely love that it’s all stock. I have a 2023 Frontier S trim and I love it and it’s been very capable as a stock truck. Keep doing it for the practical guys that still love trucks and off-roading and just being in nature. It’s not always about the gear one has but more than willingness for adventure. Most modern day pickups are very capable regardless of size and weight.
Most all of the Maverick off road videos I have seen are done with the truck empty, with no payload on board. You have some gear in the truck. It’s put some weight on the suspension and made the springs and suspension articulate to keep the wheels on the ground more. It made a very noticeable difference. A whole lot less air gaping the tire and ground. Making the suspension put in some work. The traction control worked a ton better for it. Good show. While not a stump jumper or rock crawler, the Maverick can actually put in some off roading stuff and show some chops.
Hey guys, great video. I am a born and raised a Floridian. Lived in Florida my entire life until I retired to a ranch in Montana. I have dirt biked and 4 wheeled everywhere where from Crooms to Ocala. But I have to tell you, with all those years of experience, when I first went off roading here, it was like I knew nothing. There is so much more knowledge needed to 4 wheel here. And it’s way more fun. Not hating on you at all, just saying you would love wheeling in the mountains. Good luck guys! Keep having fun.
While out riding I saw a k5 blazer on 37s trying to climb something similar to this. Tried it about 4 times and failed. Here comes a small 2 door jeep with street tires that looked to be about size 28s, crawled up with almost no wheel spin. The k5 driver was pissed and just left. It's amazing what lockers or a system like this maverick can do. Open diffs are definitely a thing of the past.
We both released vids on the same day. Nice job! Mine is the regular AWD with Conti street tires which I doubt would make it up that hill. But they really surprised me that I did not have to put chains on all winter, even in this huge snow year in Park City. Like you, I don't want to get rid of perfectly good tires. I will get ATs on another set of rims to make it easy to swap. Then I can go up trails like you did.
All the gear in the back helps out with the traction. I'm with you on the tires. I am not getting All terrain tires for my 4RUNNER until I wear out my current tires!
Damn, that's really impressive. I'm possibly looking to replace my Subaru Crosstrek soon-ish and between this and a Forester, I'm kinda leaning towards the Maverick at the moment. I'd really be sold if they made a hybrid AWD version. Then at least I'd probably get better fuel economy in the city and close enough on the highway.
The best part is the EcoBoost has a real transmission and not a CVT like the Subaru. It still gets great MPG. I can get 33 empty with my maverick when it was stock.
Get the maverick hybrid. The sport is not an actual bronco, Get the 2024 if you can. They perfected the maverick from the issues it had. It wasn't bad before it just got better. I get 39mpg
@@OverlandFlorida I don’t think so, at least the last time I checked. it was a Ford ordering constraint thing. Maybe it will be different for the new model year 🤞
Good job I like this vid the most. Others talk too much just want to see more action on the truck stock but hopefully more with the ford maverick mod. The weight on the truck give more traction.👍🏼
@ that’s kinda the whole point. It’s got what? Maybe 3 1/2 inches of complete suspension travel instead of the normal 6 to 10 inches a normal pickup would have.
Does your Maverick have the Fx4 package? I'm curious how capable a Maverick without the Fx4 would be. I was looking for the Fx4 sticker, but uh, yeah 😂
It amazes me they haven’t closed it yet. They keep repairing it and leaving it open. It literally looks like this a few weeks after they repair it with loads of clay and sand.
@@OverlandFlorida well I guess sandy roads are easier to manage. You can just scrape the sand around. They just closed a road in north Georgia because the erosion was silting up a trout stream
@@OverlandFlorida Thanks for clarifying. Your wrap covers the sticker. Thinking the truck will not do as well without the FX4 package in these conditions.

Thanks for this, no car review fluff. Just hey, I have a stock ass maverick, and this is what it can do. Much appreciated.

It's an impressive all-wheel drive system, and it's even better when it's paired with "real" all terrain tires.
I’m sure tires would make a huge difference.
Yep, I have the Tremor XLT and the Tires are working great. You drove really well with those Pirelli’s
Good AWD system, and a driver who knows how to use them. Impressive!!

Agree! I rarely have to use the 4wd lock or locking rear diff. The AWD system is capable on its own.

There’s not much suspension travel, so having weight in the bed wouldn’t really matter.
