Im thinking about buying a 2003 Ranger similar to this one. Ive changed tires on trucks before but never on a Ranger so i was glad to see the tools are easy to use and access Easy, informative instructions and dude didn't hesitate to lay on the dirty garage floor and get his clothes messy. That was awesome.
We were in a hurry changing a flat and didn't pay attention how the jack went back into place. Thank you for making such a clear, concise video. Much appreciated.
I love how you sometimes need a real specific information and there is always a TH-cam video of it to save you from disassembling your whole car ! Thank you stranger from the internet !
Thank you so much for this. Such a simple video but it gave me exactly what I was looking for. I'm no mechanic by any means but I needed my spare down. I have a 2001 ranger and I swear that spare been up there for all of them 22 years. It came down with ease thanks to you and your video and just wanted to show my appreciation. Granted my rim and tire look like shit lol but it'll do to get me back home.
Thank you, kind sir. I figured it was gonna be a pain in the ass to get my spare from under my truck, but Ford made it easy with the crank rod to lower/raise the spare. Thanks again for your help!!
I bought a 98 Ranger a couple of years ago, and come to find out, all of these tools be gone! They left me a screw jack with no handle, too kind! Found out that a jack handle will work in lieu of the factory tools. I'd never have found out without your video. Thanks for the post!
Wouldn't it make sense to have the wheel in the carrier with the valve stem pointed downward (rather than toward the underside of the truck bed) so that the tire pressure can be checked/adjusted more easily?
Had my 2006 Ranger for a year and thankfully I haven't needed to change out a tire for the spare. If I did, I would have had no idea, until now! Great quick video.
Hey you saved my butt I really appreciate it I've done this before just figured it out all by myself sitting there on the middle of the golden the not the Golden Gate Bridge the Benicia Bridge and anyway it doesn't matter I was on the Benicia Bridge clear off away from traffic and I figured out how to take that freaking tire off the spare but tonight I could not figure it out at all I need to crank it all the way down duh and I did that before but hey what can I say but great video very very clear explanation I appreciate it so now I know how to do it bye
on my 2007 Ranger the flat end of the one extension tube will not fit. I had to use the open square end on another extension tube and it fit perfectly.
I have a 2011 Ranger the hook does not work you have to use the square end. Had a hard time until I looked close with a light to see the connection...glad it was not on a dark night. Great vid.
Me and my friends were sitting with the manual trying to figure out why the hook wasn't working. I got your comment on one bar, and it worked no problem. Thanks
Mine’s a 2007 Mazda B2300. It has a locked cap over the rod intake hole that has seized up. The key wont turn. I’ve sprayed WD40 in it and had it soak awhile but still can’t unlock it. Any advice?

Thanks for making such a straightforward video without trying to be a funny man or self-promoter. Saved me a bunch of time.

It wouldn't make sense for it to twist off or be secured by lug nuts cause it can come loose or be hard to get and risk falling on you.

P0q0 . Hb
Great instructions. I decided it might be good to figure this out incase AAA wasn’t available. I’m hoping for a video on changing the tire.
Do you just put the piece back in place to take the part that holds the tire back in place and turn the opposite way around.?
You saved my ass I was totally screwed and it’s -25 here it would have been bad if I couldn’t get that tire off. Thanks
You’re Welcome! Glad it helped
Honeslty I’m so lucky I searched your video. I was having trouble for like 20 mins. 😅 life saver
Glad it helped!
I was about to go outside and just try to wing it, but now I know how bad of a failure that would have been. Thanks for the information!
lol You're Welcome! Glad it helped

This video might've just saved my boss's bacon, as she hit a flat driving across the Namib Desert, Africa. Glad this video was out there to turn too!

You're Welcome!
Awesome video, very clear and concise.
Thanks!
Now how do you do it if you don't have the jack or the crank tool?
Lucky me just bought a ranger recently 01 and all that stuff is missing from behind the passenger seat yay!
thanks buddy. that was very helpful.
You're Welcome! Glad it helped
Thank you for posting this video it was a big help
You're Welcome!
Some years like 2005 it is the big square end not jack piece. Might want to check book in dash.
Great information! Thanks!
You're Welcome!
Excellent video, thank you

Very helpful, thanks!

How intentionally small the entry for the hooked end to catch is wild.
How easy is it when you have a flat and its almost touching the ground?

Can i actually fit in a meg Rim underneath there or it will only have to be a normal steel rim with a tyre
do you mean a mag rim? that shouldnt be an issue
Where to put the Jack to lift up on a ford ranger 2008?

Good Tip!
I bought a old ranger and went to check the spare just to find it didn’t have the tools
That dinky little jack is long enough to lift the truck up high enough to change the tires??
I have to use a 2x4. Sometimes a concrete cinder block 😅
Thanks!
You're Welcome!
Thank you

Where is spare tire wrench on 1998 chevy extended cab

sorry to hear!

Mine is stripped, what am I supposed to do?
yeah i feel like i have the same problem. don’t know when these comments will be seen, but it took way more effort just to lower the hook
If the mechanism completely stripped or rusted it may need to be replaced - sometimes the Cable needs to be cut in order to get the tire down
to purchase
