Those are the pancakes my dad used to make, first one always comes out naff. I like the almost crepe like pancakes, but always end up making in between American and British not too thick not too thin.
Love this video! Nice to see a normal bloke in his kitchen making the blunders the rest of us make instead of a professional just making us look bad, great hat too 😂
In jug add the milk water salt eggs then whisk, next gradually add the flour while whisking all the time, and your ready, it's easier and less to wash later 😁👍great pancakes
Looks great and would tick all the right boxes for good pancakes. I flip mine using 2 large fish slices and I've discovered a new way to use cooked pancakes cut into 4 oblongs and layered in a loaf tin with grated cheese sliced mushrooms tomatoes and chopped spinach all topped with parmesan cheese baked 15 mins at 180 and you have a fake Lasagna made without pasta - it's gorgeous.
Made mine earlier today...hey my first one was great..lol...but made mine with milk and water, 3 eggs, 5 oz of plain flour...pinch salt ...mixed well and I don't toss pancakes, I always used spatula to turn....made 3, they were lush!! 😋😋😋 lemon juice and sugar for me...... made some last time, grated cheese and rolled...very tasty too...
I love mine with sugar an lemon juice and so do my American children and grands too, say pancakes here and they think of the thick ones, so they are known as crepes here but they hammer the pronunciation calling them crepts
Friend you made my day in the evening i was starving and luckly i had all ingredients for making a pancake and i made the best pancakes ever thank you very much
Hello Adam . Great video. I live in the Uk. My boyfriend is Australian, living in Australia. Every weekend we have a virtual cookery class. We are going to use your video to make pancakes. I think your edible hat will swing it for him. My sister says before you turn the pancake over, wait till the shine has gone from the surface. That is when you know it is ready to turn over
Re flipping - it really helps if you have a curved-edge pan. The cast iron one he's using has a very sharp vertical angle to the wall, so there's no way to slide the pancake forward without it just crumpling up. He'd have had to just use an exclusively up & down toss instead, which is difficult with heavy cookware like cast iron. A carbon steel pan or nonstick pan would be easier.
oooh Mum and Grand mother from Yorkshire say you should cook pancakes in Lard ! yes we always cook in lard, it gets hotter quicker than butter, crisps them better, your flipping problem is because the butter isn't hot enough in the middle. lard seals the mix before it sticks to the pan, it doesn't sweeten them up like butter, you can not taste the lard when cooked. you use less lard than butter! Because they couldn't get lemons during the war, the topping was sugar and vinegar! I prefer the chocolate spread, I had one in Greece that had choc spread and any Alcoholic beverage you wanted! NOT for the Kids! But plenty off adults going in for seconds and thirds. Great Honest vid though.
😂😂😂😂😂👍🏻 loved that video, you manage to amaze me with every one of your brilliant videos Adam 😊 Just the way mum used to make them, yours are with extra fun 👌🏻
I searched "British pancakes" this one has 130g flour, 2 eggs, 300ml "watery-milk". The other video (portions have been divided by 2) 150g flour, 1 eggs and 300ml milk & tspn of melted butter Jamie Oliver's website (portions scaled up to 300ml) 150g flour, 3.6 eggs, 300ml milk The proportions of eggs are varying widely. The flour to milk is fairly constant. I think the best thing to do is 3 batches of 150g flour, 300ml milk, then add 1egg, 2eggs, 3eggs and see what the difference is....
Hi cutie! I add a bit of baking powder or bicarb for a slightly puffy-er p-cake. Maybe a dash of sugar too. Crepe to pancake magical transformation. Yum.
What a trip this vid! No idea how I ended up here Yyoutube knows me too well, I was just watching Delta Parole Music Videos like usual and now I am here and getting hungry for this. Time to eat after I watch. lel
I can make Yorkshire pudding without a hitch but my pancakes rise but do not rise from the pan! They even stick to my non-stick pan. I wondered about saying loudly (to the ingredients) that I am going to make Yorkshire pancakes so that there might be more success due to some sort of culinary gene influence! Haha
Looks more like crepes too me since you are making them so thin. I make crepes once in a while and I love them. But I want mine to look more like British Pancakes when I get ready to make them. Whether they are British or French they are delicious. Even though those first few pancakes you cooked got messed up they would still be good eating. I sure wouldn't let them go to waste.
Gadget Junkie Thank you chap, nice of you to say. Thanks for the tip, I'll try it next time but I think I'm just generally a bit rubbish at flipping 😂😂😂
i enjoyed your video. i love pancakes. They are so delicious. You always do a great job cooking. i make my pancakes thicker and in an iron pan. it works out well for me. Recently i tried to make them with sweet potato flour and they were so delicious. Your pancake hat was also neat! So funny! Thumbs up!
Oh wow!!! Your pancake demonstration was really fun, informative and funny!!! I think I’ve enjoyed your video more than any other foodie video I’ve watched. I’ve got some self-made recipes from when I lived in Italy about 4 lifetimes ago. Would you like them???
Omg Sally yes! I am a huge fan of Italian food. So feel free to send them to my email address. You'll find it on the about page, or Facebook if you like. Thank you so much! ❤️
Hello, just wanted to ask as i really like this, reminds me when i was a kid, what difference would you make with quantities of the ingredients when making Yorkshire puddings or savoury pancakes(with bacon, syrup etc) Do you have recipes for them to?
Watched this after trying another recipe which was really thick and dense. This is much better - made me laugh too. Ps for easier flipping, a pancake saucepan is much easier because the sides aren’t as high as your pan cheers
Never try flipping when drunk. It took me till the next day to remove it from the ceiling. Too dangerous to climb up ladders while drunk #SaftyFirst lol
Don't waste your time trying when drunk! I never tried flipping... Just keep messing it up! I do this ever year & forget the best way to do it lol , get drunk just don't try flipping after 3-6 attempts you should be good! I just burned one while writing this comment! Lol stay safe... & stay drunk 👍🏻🍻
I used self raising flour. It's really good. One cup self raising flour, 3/4 cup of milk and 2 eggs. Cook it with butter on slow fire. Just add butter and honey on top of it after. Delicious!
Thank you for this video. Always think it's just me that mucks up the first few. My 10yr old son did better ones than me thus year so might just let him be in charge next year lol
You crack me up, lovely hat. Enough said. I make my crepes that way, but i make the batter the night before and leave in the fridge. ( A little tip from my French mother in law) The texture of the pancake or crepe is really nice after a night in the fridge. Thanks again;)
You should consider editing the chapter start time to show the recipe starting from 1:15, cos right now it just jumps straight to the method shown after the card, but not the actual recipe card itself, and is therefore a useless bookmark. Thanks for the recipe though!
I'm 11 years old and I'm learning to cook now and this video was very helpfull
That's so cool! Glad to be able to help. Well done ilhaam
Same my mom said she wanted it lol

i like that you showed the messing up parts, makes it way more relatable. i tried this and failed about 2 times before i finally got some good ones.
I always wondered why the ones I had when I was a kid were so different to these other ones you see on youtube
In jug add the milk water salt eggs then whisk, next gradually add the flour while whisking all the time, and your ready, it's easier and less to wash later 😁👍great pancakes

Flippin' brilliant, thank you.
If you are struggling with the flipping, put a plate over the pan and flip the pan instead. This way you can slide the pancake back in the pan.
It worked. I used margarine instead of butter, plus soy milk, and had no problems, except with the first one as mentioned.
Re flipping - it really helps if you have a curved-edge pan. Can i use self raising flour? Thanks
No.
Hi im 11 an im also from britain and i was searching and searching for a normal pancakes that i always see and i really hope this qill help❤
I use 100g flour 200ml milk and 2 eggs but as soon as they hit the pan they instantly cook and I can’t cover the pan properly in mix what should I do?
Turn the heat down a bit. Add butter then add the mix in the centre and work it out to the edges. Sounds like the pan is far too hot.
And if the mixture doesn't spread you might need to add more milk
I’m practicing for pancake day. Good shit

Just to rub it in that you with a pancake hat will forever be on the internet, here's a comment about it 7 years later.

It's a 7 year old video. I may re do an updated version at some point though as this was when I first started and wasn't very good at editing
How much flour
I have more confidence in this recipe due to all the failed flips being kept in. XD
