I run a similar setup on all my printers too. An advantage to this method, in the unlikely -- but not impossible -- scenario where there is a fire, being able to cut the power vs merely stop the print is a solid safety feature.
Sir I Thank you! I will get my first 3d printer Flashforge A5M tomorrow and it's all due to how helpful you have been to me! and I look forward to more! Thank you Again!!!
My Flashforge AD5M arrives tomorrow. Thanks for the reviews.
Mine is being shipped today. I ordered from FlashForge. Wish I'd ordered from Amazon. It would've been here yesterday LOL
@@gunnarbiker Mine arrived 3 business days after it was ordered. Def 2 days longer than amazon shipping however, it arrived safely and was ready to print with right away.
Figure Feedback, This is great! I liked it and subscribed!
Thanks a lot!
How did the Aliexpress acrylic panel kit work out? Please make a video if you can. I’m holding off on buying it to see what other people think of it. Love your content! Keep up the good work.
I do the EXACT same thing. I use Wyze cameras, and Kasa smart plugs. Less than 30 dollars for eqach printer, I run 3 printers pretty much non stop, and it is awesome to be able to kill a print if I need to, while I am away at work, or whatever.
Regarding the Smart Plug, you still have to push the on/off button on the front even if you turn on the plug (unless you added something that push it all the time).
I also think it is not as necessary now that we can use flash maker.
Before that, I used to remotely connect to my PC and click on cancel print if needed.
I think that a fingerbot/switchbot will be a better solution for turning it on, and a smart plug to completely turn it off.
This video references the 5M, not the 5M Pro. The 5M doesn't have a power button that needs to be pushed in. I also addressed reasons why someone might use this over Flashmaker near the end of the video.
@@FigureFeedback I see.
I thought the the 5M also has a power button on the front as-well.
You might have that "preheat the bed" mentality from other printers, I know I did. But if you didn't know, OrcaSlicer (regular and the OrcaFlash variant) both heat the bed to the target temperature before heating the nozzle. Meaning you don't need to do that anymore with these. You're not going to get the nozzle oozing like you could on other printers that heat both at the same time, even though the bed takes a lot longer to heat up. Any oozing you do get (happens mostly with PETG and/or larger nozzles), would happen either way. The purge line should clear it in most cases.
Edit: again levelling before every print is super unnecessary. I know the logic might be "it doesn't hurt anything" but it kind of does. It can make a mess with filament since it fully heats the hotend before leveling, even though it usually does an okay job of wiping it off with a mini purge line, and it adds a lot of time. But your level isn't going to change much on these, unless you swap build plates or nozzles, or if you physically move the printer to a completely new location. Again, it might be a mentality you picked up on older printers that had springs or weren't very well-made. It's not an issue on these.
I preheat the bed so that I don't have to wait as long for the print to get started while I'm working on the slice.
This is a good idea, also could be great for B-Role for timelapses.
After seeing some of your videos, I had bought a AD5M as you had the most accurate info I could find. It came in on tuesday, april 16th, and ever since I got it up and running I've had issues with bed adhesion, and my flashdrive wont connect or pop up any gcodes, I cannot tell as it won't indicate anything. It came with the gold PEI plate, the adhesion glue, and even with their premade settings, I haven't had many successful prints. I've been leveling before every print, I've washed the plate about 5 times now and tried many methods (aside from painters tape and hair spray or a glue stick not included in the box). I'm on the verge of returning it and going to bambu or anycubic to try out a multifilament printer and bite the bullet on price.
Good info
Is there a way to turn on my 5m pro? I don’t believe so because the 5m pro has a second power button on the front of the unit. I’m not sure if the non pro version has a second power button? If it does then how exactly is that working for you?
How do you order th4 printer start a print in remote? You need to send the slice to the printer first? Thx for the videos
The orca-flash slicer can send and initiate the print via wifi. You'll have to "bind" the printer to the mobile app via the smart tag provided on the touch screen interface... that can be found by tapping the "i" at the bottom left then "my account "
