Thank you very much.. After searching for few days how to create own lettering. I finally found you. I am really a beginner and starting this hobby is really expensive.. Saw so many tutorials but yours is the best.. Not only for free but easy to follow... Saw a lot of tutorials but at the end the brushes are for purchase to use ... Thank you very very much.
Love how thorough and informative your videos are - extremely helpful for beginners like myself. One question I have is, is it not possible to create pressure size / brush strokes without an apple pen? Im using an apple pen dupe and not getting the same thick / thin results as you on 3:07.
I have had a stylist for so long finally got a apple pen lol. Go to the wrench then prefs then “edit pressure curve” try out some things and it will work eventually once you fiddle and find the right size 😊 hope this helped!
Thank u so much for the video, everything was so clear to understand and to do, the only problem is that I don’t understand why when I write the brush seems just a normal brush, the lines are all thick. I thought that it’s maybe cuz I have a Logitech pen and not an apple pen but after searching it got out that they are the same🤷🏻♀️ I’m really confused..
The reason why it’s not working for u guys is beacuse only the Apple Pencil has pressure sensitivity Which is what you need to have to do hand lettering
I just got this app, love it.. But I don't have streamline. I'm on a iPad pro 3rd gen... But it still works for the most part. But I'm confused by no streamline option. Thx for the tutorial!
My Procreate 5.2.9 version does not have the "streamline" option under "StrokePath" "Brush." I googled it and it actually is found under "stabilization" with a lot more options: Streamline-amount, Streamline-pressure, Stabilization-amount, Motion Filtering-Amount, and Motion Filtering-Expression. Can you direct me on the best settings to achieve the brush demonstrated above? Thanks!
hey this was rlly helpful but quick question, fo you think you could do a tutorial for a calligraphy brush without an apple pen? i followed the instructions but it didnt come like yours and i presume its because i dont have an apple pen... thank you!
Thanks for the helpful video. I am having trouble with my custom brush and the tilt. To get any thickness in my brush I have to write with my Apple Pencil almost completely parallel with the screen. If I hold the Apple Pencil normally the brushstrokes are incredibly thin even with the size increased to max and pressure. Also the pressure isn’t working unless I turn my pencil to its side. Can you help with this?
Hi Shelly. This video was amazing but I don’t have an Apple Pencil so I’m using my fingers. Do you mind masking a tutorial with only using your fingers so I can make a brush, too? Thank you
I know how to do it with it I use my finger, I use a brush from a file (rad and happy) but it works with the brush pen they give you it takes a tiniest bit of practice
Ok super new to this! I have a knock off Apple pencil stylus because I wasn’t honestly sure if this was something I’d be into! I have followe you instructions, but CANNOT get think and thin lines. Does this only work with Apple Pencil?
Thank you so much for this video!🥰 I have been looking for a video that explained how to do thicker downstrokes! Only thing is when I first start the letters, I have like a little oval in the beginning of letters. Any tips?
Oh! I totally forgot about this comment I made hahah! I figured it out - I always write my names with a little wave first! So I just have to start lightly then just do more pressure when I’m doing the downstrokes 😊 thank you so much!!
I just wanted to try it on the ipad if I could do it better because I couldn't get along with the brush pens I have at home. Do you know good brush pens that you can recommend to me?
@@hannelinkeebsen8506 Aww I know what you mean!! :( Finding the best brush pens can be tricky! I do recommend the tombow fudenosuke brush pens! My fav is the hard tip one! :) I also have a list of my fav supplies: lettersbyshells.com/learn

Hey um I’m not sure why but when I went to “Apple Pencil” and increased the size and decrease the opacity I still unfortunately got stuck with just thick lines like it didn’t create a point like yours 😩
Im having the same problem and ive noticed that when i go to apple pencil theres a setting right under smoothing on your screen thats set to 30% but i dont have that setting no where
@@alyxnewman6795 Hi there!! Yes, the apple pencil specifically helps apply the pressure! Without the apple pencil, it will not apply any pressure. To reduce the brush pressure, check on the left hand side and the brush pressure should be located there!
The pressure isn’t working. I’ve tried countless tutorials, and I follow every step and the pressure remains the same with my brushes. It’s just one solid thick line. There is no taper on the ends- only a line with the same thickness throughout. I’ve tried so many guides and watched a ton of videos and I have no idea how to get this to work.
Me too. I noticed the only difference between my screen and hers is the "response" in "apple pencil" tab is at 30%. I do not have that on my procreate. Its the newest procreate available as I just downloaded it since I got the iPad pro. My lettering doesnt change when the strokes change. Its the same size through the strokes. Instead of it being skinny on up strokes and fat on down strokes.
thank you others go a whole circle to show you something so simple keep them coming :)
Thank you for this! Much appreciated ❤️
Thank you so much. This was so clear!

Sorry unless the product you have says they have pressure sensitivity, then it won’t work. Most/all fake apple pencils don’t have pressure sensitivity
Thank you❤
Thank you so much for the explanation! I have been struggling and almost gave up!
Awww yayy! So happy the video helped :)

Same omg it’s so annoying, I’ve got the Amazon alternative. Are there any alternatives that do that same thing as in the pressures of the brushes

You are so welcome!

hit the wrench then hit “prefs” then hit connect third party stylus and choose yours. (Apple Pencil is already automatically connected)
