Pattinson is a masterful actor. He should’ve been Oscar nominated for GOOD TIME and The Lighthouse…. This trailer literally gives me chills
Matt Reeves is bringing exactly what the Batman franchise needed. Some elements of the gritty comics of the 80s and 90s, BTAS, but also something new. March can’t come sooner
In all honesty, this could be the best batman film ever. I know it’s not out yet, but the cinematography, the vibe, the whole cast, etc…really knows what the fuck they’re doing. A dark, gritty, noir film that takes a deeper dive into the early days of batman/bruce wayne. I feel like it’s been forgotten that batman is pretty screwed up and mentally tortured. We haven’t gotten anything like this from any of the other batman films yet. Matt Reeves is and will always be a legend.

This seems like it has the potential to be not only the best batman movie, or comic book movie but one of the best modern pieces of cinema.
The director, cinematographer, actors, writers all are amazing at what they do. Has everything going for it. Now these trailers.
I'm hoping this gives the movies the treatment the arkham games gave to the greatest comic book character
In the red flare scene, look at Batman's chest. It has bullet markings all over it. Possibly after the hallway shootout scene. Possibly same building etc.
I noticed that too. He's probably rescuing these people. The scene where he walks through the direct rifle fire is likely Batman trying to get through guards to get to these hostages.
I 100% support your point and definitely think that could be the order in which those events happen. It may just be me and I’m seeing the light reflecting on their faces but it looks like they may all have masks on of some sort but I may be completely wrong there.
@@TheDauriaProject ya I could see them maybe wearing masks too. In the b roll footage there is Batman and Gordon kicking that door in with GO on it. Could be Gotham Observatory or something like that. Maybe this is the final location from Riddlers clues which leads him to the Court of Owls. Wild guess but you never know
Batman and Catwoman’s romance is the thing I’m looking forward to the most in this movie just from the trailer alone.
That and the action

Btw, it seems like Selina's gloves have holes in them and the nails are her actual everyday manicure (look at the shot where she touches Batman's face), which is kind of cool and funny.

After the initial showing of this trailer in the FanDome, I just sat here for a while trying to absorb what I had just seen. I watched your initial reaction video this morning (USA East Coast time) and then this breakdown this evening. I've seen a few others - there are lots out there - but few of them that I've watched (except maybe Chris on Ping Pong Flix) seemed to share your enthusiasm and excitement like I felt yesterday after the FandDome showing.
Even though I'm 70 years old, I still love the many interpretations of Batman (I watched the Adam West series as a kid when they first were shown), and I really feel this new version will be among the most entertaining, exciting, and comic accurate to the time it represents. I'm excited about the prospect of a presentation of Batman, the world's greatest detective.
Thanks for your continued presentations and discussions - You make me feel young again.

The “Wayne corruption” theory makes me think Reeves may do Court of Owls.
That's likely the entire plot of the second movie. With the third being the inevitable return of everyones favourite clown....

@@xxMisterJxx Me too mate, I think the best way to do it is to do a quadrilogy and have spinoff movies so that they can fully flesh out the Universe. If they manage to reboot with Flashpoint then they can build other characters up similarly as well. Maybe Riddler and the Mob for the first one, The Court of Owls for the second, Bane and the League of Assassins for the third one and Joker to top it off. What do you think?

this batman isn’t ready for joker. i imagine it’ll be a more experienced, mature, and equipped batman who the Joker will face off against. can’t wait to see this version of batman grow into that and face more difficult villains.

It seems that all of the screening information was true. I love that you can see the Rage in Robert's eyes most intimidating unhinged live action Batman. I understand why Matt decided to highlight the action as opposed to the detective side because all the fans would figure out the whole movie from the trailer. About 20:20: I think he may be holding some kind of baton. Like what police use. Good melee weapon & it looks like he’s just flipping it around by the handle. Can’t tell much until we see the film, but this looks amazing.

You are one of the very few people who have the maturity and understanding of why the cinematic character of Batman works as well as he does - and one of those reasons is that you can see his eyes, and that they have never given him white lenses. That would be a massive mistake. You need to see his eyes, it conveys so much more. Thank you for saying what you did. Too many people don't seem to grasp that.

That was the most insane movie trailer I've ever seen. Pattinson is frightening, and the cinematography is breathtaking.
Looks like this Batman will need a Robin at some point. He looks so blinded by rage and darkness, he might end up completely losing it and killing people. Only Robin could save him (like in the comics with Tim Drake).

I love how based on the Trailer that Batman is raged and furious, which is what we need for there to be a Batman, with losing his temper against the Riddler, and I thinks it’s a good idea that they are going for 1 year 6 months to persuade the sort of beginning of the dark knight kinda like the animated movie Batman year 1. When he says about "pushing himself to remember everything that happened" he's talking about the events of the night that has just passed. He is obviously losing it and loses himself in the violence at some points. I don't think he's trying to remember his motivations for doing what he does, I don't really think that comes into it.
@@imgonnaputsomedirtinyourpi1014 Like a day job. This is what I'm saying - nobody can remember what they had for breakfast on Saturday because its so trivial and therefore not easy to remember. You have breakfast every day. To him, beating up thugs is as natural and thoughtless as me eating my cereal (idk I can't remember).
I love the sense this trailer gives that Batman is beating people so close to the point of killing them, then stops at the last second, that taser bit really felt like he was full of rage and wanted to keep going but stopped himself.
Everything with Selina Kyle gave me so many Year One vibes, I loved all of that stuff. Same goes for Oswald Cobblepot, the incredible makeup gives me a lot of Arkham game series vibes with how realistically grotesque he is, and his De Niro-ish voice looks like its going to make for a really memorable take on the character. I imagine that shot of him looking out the window is him at the end, having made his first big step into becoming the Penguin, like maybe he's now running a lot of the crime in Gotham after Falcone's death. I feel like that could be from an ending montage, like maybe it's during that moment with Catwoman and Batman on the roof.
I'm sure Paul Dano is going to be great as the Riddler, but I believe that whilst we'll hear his voice and see him on screens wearing his mask a lot through the film, and maybe we'll see him commit one murder as the opening of the film based on the last trailer, I fully believe we won't actually see his face until after he's arrested and he and Batman have that conversation.
Based on the start of this trailer we're never shown a clear shot of his face when he's arrested, which could just be trailer trickery, but seeing as its a murder mystery I think it'd be so much more satisfying if we see him for the first time at the same time as Batman seeing him for the first time.
I also doubt the line 'I've been trying to reach you' is what he actually says before Batman punches the glass, he could've easily said something else which would make more sense to me. It would also be cool if instead of the 'wanting to be captured just to break out' cliché, if the Riddler is actually fine with being locked up because he believes what he's already set in motion can't be stopped, then again when Batman beats him up I assume comes later so maybe he does break out.
I haven't even finished the video yet and this is by far the best breakdown I've seen for this trailer so far. Great work!

Love your videos.. Do you think it is a possibility that in the scene where Batman is confronting the man behind the glass cell wall ("What have you done" scene), that maybe that isn't the Riddler? They once again don't show his face, and they clearly want you to think that is the Riddler by dubbing his voice in there, but I was thinking maybe that is the very end of the movie, and perhaps the mic drop scene that the leaks were talking about. What do you think? You can almost see a reflection in the glass and I'm not sure its Paul Dano. - Cheers

Awesome breakdown. I still feel like there’s so much from this movie we haven’t seen. Feel like we’ve barely gotten anything in these trailers about the actual plot, makes me excited for what’s to come.
The behind the scenes clip of batman kicking that door open with Jim Gordon looked like a very interesting scene

What if fairly early into the movie, The Riddler allows the GCPD to arrest him after he’s already left explosives, bodies, clues, and puzzles, all throughout Gotham for Batman to solve. It would allow him to use the GCPD as protection from an angry Batman. Maybe at the end of the movie, he has a mole in the GCPD that could set him free… which could lead to this Batman ultimately failing to keep the city safe, and keep the criminal responsible locked up?
This way, Batman would be forced to work together with (and ultimately become close with) Lieutenant Gordon!
The mole could be Stanley Merkel who could turn out to be Mad Hatter
The idea that he’s in jail as protection is pretty smart. It obviously is part of his plan and some sort of overarching narrative he’s conveying to Batman
I think he allows himself to get caught, because just as in the comics, he's a narcissist. He may also believe that the cops will protect him from Batman. I gather he hasn't killed any street criminals, so he doesn't have to worry about other prisoners getting to him. Especially considering his know victims are all members of the Justice system.
Maybe The Riddler sets himself up as a suspect, but due to lack of evidence, the police have to release him. That would explain why he is not in prison in the shot of Batman punching him relentlessly in the face, as Selina looks on.
It is also a possibility that the scene of Batman beating up the Riddler, is early on in the movie. It may be after Mitchell is murdered, after he investigates the crime scene with the police and after Selina has broke into the safe. So far, the only times we have seen The Riddler in his costume, were the scene from the first trailer, after killing Mitchell (duct tape intro) and Batman beating him up. Hard to say. Just speculating.
But how does he livestream later?

I have a theory for that scene with batman and the flare, I think that clue that says "see you in hell" leads batman deep deep down into Gotham, and for the people behind him I think they could be police, or I think prisoners riddler held captive possibly being saved for future death traps. and that scene where we see batman all muddy is the aftermath of all that.
What if it lead to killer croc or clay face 🤔

The scene with Batman with the flare leading the people could be a continuation of that scene where he is getting shot multiple times. You can see the bullet holes in his chest armor. Or it could just be that he didn't bother to fix it.
The Movie is gonna be perfect and he'll definitely be The Best Batman on Screen

Here’s a theory: what if riddler gives away his location to the GCPD so he can go to Arkham and maybe free someone, maybe a partner or (Matt reeves maybe puts this in as a teaser) the joker, I’m not sure but it would be a cool teaser. He could also go in maybe because he wants to kill someone as well or just speak to the Batman in person, kind of just making an official challenge to him before escaping

Pertaining to the log in his diary, I take it as when he becomes Batman he becomes a new personality. Almost like a split personality or dissociative identity disorder (multiple personalities). So when he wakes up as Bruce, some of the events become blurry because Batman “took over”.
