    Thanks for knowing what you were doing, before you decided to make a video, so many of these are a first timer figuring it out as he goes

    I am most surprised with the size of the power steering cooler! That thing is really huge.

    Careful with the little red handle thingies on the pcm plugs, they love to break right tf off.

    What you used to take off the fan clutch? I literally tried 1-7/8 and hammered it but still didn’t work

      I use an air chisel and go to town on it, they can be tough

    I have a 2008 F350 SD short bed dually.. It has the dreaded 6.8L v10 that I actually like. I have to change out the roller followers and Lash adjusters but that space getting the valve cover off on the passenger side is inadequate, if considering the shop manual instructions. They say to remove the motor mounts on the passenger side, loosen the mounts on the driver side, and disconnect the exhaust at the cats..I'm just wondering if it would be easier to pull those cab bolts on the passenger side and jack the cab a couple inches to slide that valve cover out.. ? Do you think it would be wise to loosen the bolts on the other side too or should be enough flex to can't it a 1 or 2 degrees?? Thanks for sharing

      Never messed with a v10 in these trucks so I’m not sure but I would think that the cab bolts would be a lot easier to deal with then the motor mounts

      @@redneckcustoms5919 Thanks for that.. With that though.. How much lift do you think you could get without messing anything up without disconnecting everything else.. Do you think you could get 2"? with a an inch side to side??

    Also what could be the cause of high pressure coming from the oil cap and no compression in cylinder 2 but still drives...

    How many manours to "lift" the cab and then how many manhours to put the cab back on? Is it true it's a ten (10) hour job total (lift + replace)?

    • @redneckcustoms5919
      @redneckcustoms5919  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The fastest time I’ve had removing one was a hour and a half on a rust free truck where the cab bolts all came out without spinning. Typically it takes about 3 hours to lift cab and 4-4 1/2 hours to put everything back together

    How many kms did this engine have?

    • @redneckcustoms5919
      @redneckcustoms5919  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The first one I ever rebuilt only had 70k miles on the truck and I have rebuilt a remanufactured engine from International that only had 45k miles since it was put in before it blew up again. These trucks need to be deleted if you want your motor to last

  • @toddb930

    Since you removed most everything off the front, can you lift the engine out of the front?

    • @redneckcustoms5919
      @redneckcustoms5919  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can but it’s much easier to lift the cab and pull it out the top

      @@professor_thunder yep, you’re right. I meant it as a joke as indicated by the thumbs up. The crescent wrench comment is a big joke amongst mechanics.

      $8000-20,000 depending on what parts you go with and if your cores are any good.
