    I’m a new subscriber, I have a 6.4, and it’s being rebuilt right now. My issue was the head gasket pressurizing the coolant system, only when pulling, and 3/4ish throttle. When we got the motor torn down, we saw that the head gasket was compromised on the driver side, but it wasnt blown out really bad, about a 1” spot. We had the block inspected as well as the pistons, and cylinders. Everything looked really good no damage to the lower end at all. So, while the motor was broke down, I went ahead and had the whole top-end rebuilt. ARP studs, new KDD o-ringed heads (my OEM heads were still good, but I wanted to go back with somethan better), Mishimoto intercooler, Mishimoto radiator, Mishimoto oil cooler kit, turbo rebuild kit, with Wicked-Wheel high and low, turbo wheels, ported intake manifold, BD Diesel 6.0 conversion exhaust manifolds and up pipes, Mishimoto upper support bar, 3” cold side intercooler pipe, Bulletproof Diesel oil cooler half kit, Mishimoto baffled oil catch can kit, Sinister diesel secondary oil filter kit, Sinister Diesel coolant filter kit, Radiator hoses, Red coolant conversion, Manton 275,000psi pushrods, Poly-Cab mounts, New T-stats, and Mishimoto radiator cap. My truck was made more efficient before I did all this other work. I have a 4” flow-pro down pipe, to 5” straight pipe exhaust, with a 7”x15” RBP tip, H&S mini maxx (not running any hot tunes), S&B cold air intake, 6” lift, 37x13’s on 20”x12” wheels, and that maybe all. I thank…? But I don’t race my truck, I have babied from the day I bought it, I pull my 3 horse, with living quarters horse trailer, to barrel races for my wife on occasion, other than that it’s my daily, and I don’t plan to ever get rid of it. Also it was great to hear the Christian music playing in the background.

    Very thorough! Looking at buying a 08 with a 6.4 that melted a piston or two. I work on 5.9 cummins every day, take 2 hours to pull. Looks like im in for it! BTW love the music in the back ground. Keep it up!

    Wonderful video if you like looking through a keyhole to watch the damn thing. What a colossal blunder.

    Awesome videos I bought a 2008 King Ranch with 145,000 miles and 2 days later ended up with a cracked piston: I can’t afford to pay a shop so thanks to your videos I’m attempting to rebuild it myself. What do you spray on bolts around the turbo that are stuck? What do you use to clean the engine parts after disassembling them?

    Would love to do this myself. Just out of pure curiosity how much would this have cost your costumer? Including the machine shop trip. Appreciate your videos.

      It all depends on what you do to it, usually $10k and up

    its as if ford went backward with the design of the 6.4

    Did that engine have major blow by with the cracked piston??

    cheap cheap late model 6.4 for sale watching to see if they are worth rebuilding. Sadly very clean trucks, dying young

    • @redneckcustoms5919
      @redneckcustoms5919  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They are worth rebuilding if the crank and block are reusable. You also need to delete the truck if you want it to last a long time. The biggest issue with the 6.4 is the regen cycle putting too much heat in the cylinders causing the pistons to melt

    is it really worth it? most of those 6.0 & 6.4 navistar engines were destined for dumpster duty before leaving the navistar plant.what good is power when you sacrifice reliability to get it? nobody wants to have a wrecker on standby 24/7.when you just overpaid for a truck to begin with.

    • @redneckcustoms5919
      @redneckcustoms5919  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The answer is yes they are worth it. The people that think bad of them are the people who do not have a proper knowledge of the motor or the ability to take care of it.

    How do you remove the rear main cover after removing the flywheel? Mine doesn’t seem to want to come off

    • @redneckcustoms5919
      @redneckcustoms5919  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Take all the bolts out of the transmission adapter and you will also have to take off the high pressure fuel pump cover

      @@rzrrebel2421 there’s a little brass plate that bolts between the flexplate and the crank hub. You need to remove that. DO NOT remove the crankshaft hub though. The crank will be unusable if it is removed
