At my local game store we have a guy who plays 40k with his late 2nd early 3rd chaos space marines. He just recently upgraded from metal Abby and terminators to plastic, but he still rocks the two heavy metal chaos dreadnoughts.
@@edpaintsminis Yep, he is in the process of rebasing everything for tournament play now. It is hilarious watching his mini/derpy chaos marines charge and murder custodes.
Absolutely adore these every time you make one, just sends me way back to looking at the old catalogues dreaming of models in glass cabinets. Don’t get me wrong, I love the new sculpts for models and they have their place for modern design sensibilities, but they just don’t have the soul like these retro models do.
Totally agree. They really feel 'crafted' and leave enough of a canvas for hobbyists to put their own spin onto it. But yes - objectively the new stuff is incredible!
Easily my fav second edition content on the TH-cam's! If the next battle report is half as good as the Armageddon stuff i will be very happy. Awesome stuff dude keep it up!
These videos are firing me up to break out my 5000 pt 2 - 3rd edition dark angles army. If i remember right there should be at least 3 dreadnoughts and so may tanks. Should get to painting whats remaining
YES! I like how Pratchett keeps it ambiguous as to whether it possesses the wielder or whether it is just a comment on all firearms. I suspect the latter.
I really love the pitted surface all the larger areas have from the casting process, I don't think I've seen a metal boxnaut without atleast some pitting. Love it
How refreshing to see a beautiful metal miniature restored and worked without complaint. I love these old metal figures and this one is a gem. It was also great to see Acetone used as well, lol. Nice job, this model is amazing. ❤👍
The usual glory being brought to beautiful old models! Still adore the banners you add to the Blood Angels, they are so striking. Also very nice to see the Lictor on the edge of the painting desk! Hope we see him soon.
Man, seeing you paint step-by- step has made me pick up my brushes and at least try to paint my pile of shame. Seeing your army grow is inspiring, thank you!
Re-doing the same era metal Dark Angels dreadnought for my dad for his birthday. Massive chunk of pewter is a beast! Pinning will likely be in my future.
This looks super nice. I'm a big fan of the Primaris Dreads as they're imposing and cool centerpiece models but man Firstborn Dreads just have such a charm to them.
At first I was hesitant seeing the red is just a base colour and edge highlights, but the end result was really great! Sometimes simple (but tedious) schemes really are the best :) Keep the excellent content coming!
Greetings and Salutations! Just awesome! I have one of the metal Dreads, Ultramarines, with an Assault Cannon. Eventually acquiered a Plastic Dread from the Assault on Black Reach, with the Multi Melta, which my son painted up in Blood Angels colours. The Multi Melta is just iconic Blood Angels Dread. Love your content!
Thanks so much Bill! The assault cannon version is so cool! Love that you got your son onboard and you're painting dreads together. More dread action on the horizon!
@@edpaintsminis If I remember my brother's army... you can add a mob of Blood Axes in horrible camo uniforms. This will allow you to add a looted Leman Russ Battle Tank! That's a lot of points in a few models there! Of course if you're sticking with an army of just Goffs, I get it. 2nd Orks though were a mix of clans in the same army. Back then, all buggies and bikes were Evil Sunz, all mega armored nobs were Bad Moons, etc.
Found your Chanel today and became an intimidate fan of yours. I binged all your videos and ohh wait... whats that... a new video! What a surprise! Excellent work mate. Can't wait for your next episode. MAY THE EMPEROR'S GOLDEN LIGHT ILLUMINATE ALL YOUR ENDEAVORS!
This is such great content! I also started with 2nd edition and your videos take me right back to my childhood! Thanks a lot for your great work - and of course, I need to see a battle report with all those awesome models!
Excellent mate! You know I think this thing could actually be classified as an offensive weapon! These old dreads are seriously heavy! 🤣 thanks for another minisode! 👍
Loving the content Ed! If you do another army in the future, I’d love to maybe see some retro Imperial Guard to fight alongside the Blood Angels. Keep it up
I started back in 87 with Rogue Trader, so you are hitting all the nostalgic sweet spots for me! 2nd edition is still my favorite edition to the game. Great work! Keep it coming!
2 for 2, first I have a few of these heavy bastards that I got from my big brother. Second, it was my brother got me into Sir Terry Pratchett. The Small Gods audiobook is so great!
Small Gods is sooo good and I hear lots of people say it's their favourite Pratchett novel. Glad that I hit both niches! Thanks for the comment Daniel! :)
What a beautiful paintjob. This really hit me with a lot of nostalgia as the the Dreadnought is for me the perhaps most iconic 40K miniature. Hope to see a lot more 2nd edition videos from your. Love the content.
Man, I adore your channel. I don’t even play 40K (I’m all about the AoS), but your narration and painting really hit the spot. I love the chilled out, approachable presentation, and I’m enjoying learning about a game I once walked by in the mall as a child with no money.
There is no Hammer like Oldhammer! Especially with all the new rules changes and shenanigans comming with 10th I am drawn to the good old times. The rules are not as neat written as the current rules, but one has a good hung and stable rules set. Just search for BattleBible and you will find all the rules and Army Books one need for some 2nd Edition fun! I love your rescue videos and the Dreadnought was always my favorite model.
Ah love the Battlebible - It's been an invaluable resource and it is great to have everything in one place. Indeed, ain't no hammer like old hammer - that said, I am enjoying 10th edition!
Very Noice, I think going old school colours on these retro minis is the only way to go. They really do look good and makes your remember why you liked them so much at the time, hasn't changed. Great Vid and channel content.
Very, very cool dreadnought, great music to listen to, a Terry Pratchett endorsement (I like Jon Culshaw, but highly, highly recommend Nigel Planer's narration), and a very cute cat at the end! What more could one ask for in a video?
Beautiful work bud. I bet doing one nice model instead of a fleet of Orks or Nids was a nice change of pace. Keep up the great work/battle reports of old :)
Oh you're absolutely right - batch painting is wearing a little thin. Hopefully most of that is behind me now that I have the core of three armies. Thanks for the comment and your support! :)
Excellent Dread and another fun watch again 😎 Coincidentally, I just had a terribly painted one delivered to my doorstep today. Once it's stripped down, it'll follow your example and have a second life as a 2nd ed. Blood Angel 😁
After finding your channel I really love the OG space marines and I made a literal squad of the 1993 mono pose marines I'm only missing an Sergent and heavy weapon those are hard to find.
I forgot all of my rant about the splotchy silver drybrushing as soon as you distracted me with the great Sir Terry Pratchett. This round goes to you. >:(
Can someone please tell me the exact name of the song played at 2:38. I’ve been flipping through dozens of white bat audio tracks and haven’t found it yet.

That sounds like a glorious host of Angels...
I love your videos man

I love the Gonne. So unsettling
