What I also like about the helmets is that they sort of speak of a function rather than just being massive and impractical decorations.
On one of them you can see cables extending throughout the spikes and they probably also go straight into the sorcerers brain.
The helmet probably serves as some kind of warp energy antenna, amplifying the psykers sensitivity to the flows and eddies of warp space, allowing him a greater ability to tap into it and unleashing it's destructive power.

I like this miniature, nicely painted, what a great helmet, that face guard like a possessed mantrap, the spooky faces in the armour, and the backpack.. nolonger hidden, it screams chaos has a foothold in material space and beware its servants. So brazen, so cool.

I always loved the 2nd edition psychic phase with the cards.
Chaos was my first army, and also currently army. The new models are definitely a big improvement I think, but these videos definitely prod my nostalgia button.

The non-metallic gold turned out especially good, I think! And having the dark sand involved in the highlights for it and the midtones of the robe really ties the colors on the model together to let them contrast against the pops of blue, red, and purple. Great job!

I picked up that exact same sorcerer a while ago and well as 4 Rubrics of that era to make a nice little squad for my army (playing modern 40k with them). I always love to have older models to spice things up, and while there isn't much outside of those for a Thousand Sons army, that squad was a joy to paint!

Played 2nd edition and still have some of those models. Kept all the stuff and occasionally get it out to read. Compulsory random moves while being on fire was tight!

Just stumbled upon your channel, amazing to see all the older minis getting a showcase, I started around 2nd edition of 40k and never really played the game properly, I just loved the models but couldn't afford many, Jump forward 30? years... christ... im surrounded by plastic men and monsters, still barely a game played but love it all the same. Enjoying the videos!

I didn't have this one, but I had the horse-skull version (the one Relic used in Dawn of War for Sindri) instead. When I was playing, I made my own understated sorcerer model from a Dark Angels upgrade sprue for the robe and hood and a metal Havoc pointing arm.

You painted the one I don't have! I Have the force sword guy and forceaxe-Sorc that the Thousand sons Aspiring sorcerer with the headdress was reworked from. They are all lovely models. I remember plasmapistol guy being my least favorite - Thousand sons couldn't take them on squad leaders and 3rd ed you either shot your psychic power or your gun. I never really loved the vanes or understood if the mouth guard was supposed to be corrupted iron armour.
The detail on the breastplate also looked like it was rough to paint! You have done it justice here I think.

@@Miniscape-wh40k I wasnt, i put my hand down on an old chaos terminator. The trophy rack impaled my palm and when i lifted my hand up it went too. Had to carefully pull it out. Blood for the Blood god indeed, and yes they were World Eaters.

The closest color to the old GW Vermin Brown is probably Coat D'arms Rat Brown.

I'm no Warhammer Player, i started collecting and painting those Minis for my son. I paint them together with him, makes him forget about his Electronic Devices.
Your videos are, without a doubt, the most relaxed ones.
I would prefer those old-school Minis, but I'm not in charge😂.
The modern WH40k Creators seem way more rushed and uneasy compared to your "Jazz-Bar-Narrator" voice style.

I think a good match for that paint would be Harvest Brown by Reaper MSP! Its got that orangey-ness to it

I never appreciated the 40k sorcerer models at the time......
I actually got a warhammer fantasy nurgle sorcerer and stuck a backpack and bolt pistol onto it as the chaos warrior armour was passable as space marine armour when you account for nurgle decay.........and it had a pet nurgling on his shoulder.👍
