Jenna (and Julien) and Colleen are about the only TH-camrs I have watched for years and years. I always thought it was so silly when Jenna would say something she was doing was so boring and no one would watch it because I enjoyed just her sharing her favorite plants or making a video of the dogs. Very similar to Colleen making videos of her day to day life. I don't think they are boring at all and very much comfort watches!

Someone I knew once summed this feeling up perfectly. It's easier to break an arm and wear a cast than talk about mental health. When you break your arm people give you gifts and want to sign your cast and everyone can see the cast. No one gives you a gift when you talk about mental health and no one can just walk by and see your struggling. It's makes mental health struggles feel more like a big secret.
This happens a lot with abusive relationships where you would rather get smacked up rather than mentally abused cause the bruises heal and the words dont go away.
It’s also hard because breaking an arm usually heals in 6-8 weeks right? (I’ve never broken an arm don’t quote me on that) but mental health can be so much trickier to heal 😕
Sometimes it’s easier to tell a bunch of strangers on the internet than it is to tell people close to you. I’m the same way. 💜
The red rocks situation reminded me of a time I worked at a daycare and I told the kids if they wanted to do yoga to come to the circle rug and a bunch of kids came over and we started. One of the girls said where’s the yogurt? 😂
The way you feel when talking to the camera is honestly the same way we feel when listening to you. It's like we're best friends :) and that's why I like watching you so much. I'm about to become an adult myself (18 soon), and you've taught me so much over the years about pregnancy, parenthood, mental health, and probably a lot more that I don't even realize. I am from Poland and I have seen first hand problems they now going through. Lot of refugees, mothers with children, native members trying to pave the way for their loved ones. We In Poland are helping them with finding place to sleep, transport and giving them all products they need to get by this Nightmare.
How ever at Ukraine war it’s still going strong.
And we need to help and remeber about those who staying in country and fighting / trying to stay safe. That’s Heart Breaking

I worked in a daycare where we used those bottles, the middle piece does help with less air bubbles, and it allows for less air to enter the nipple and child's mouth. (It's supposed to help less air bubbles enter their stomach) 😊
My stepdad doesn’t believe in mental health or meds for it and it just makes me feel invalid. I appreciate hearing you and all of the other comments saying otherwise. It sucks to feel alone, especially with an illness that makes you feel secluded to begin with. Love you guys, spreading the love ❤️
My father in law has said very similar things to me. So sorry you have to deal with that!
I now have grown children and have always been very open to anything to do with mental health, etc. Etc.
Therefore, when my kids were teens it was sometimes me that their friends came to. In a lot of situations it's just a generational thing. Please, please find someone to confide in. If you ever want to talk to a stranger feel free to contact me, I'd be happy to lend an ear. Take care of yourself.
I've gotten the same crud. Ignore them you know what's best for you only you know what's going on inside your head and what you tell your doctors. Anybody else's opinion is just like they say everyone has one just like a.. belly button
Taking medication makes one feel valid. I felt empty and didn’t want to leave the house. Anxiety everyday. I feel normal now and enjoy life again.

this is so out of left field but i just wanted to say a huge thank you colleen - i recently realised that i have moderate/severe dermatillomania only after hearing you talk about it on your channel, and i can't even begin to explain what a relief it was. to know that im not alone in my experience and it's not my fault has been such a gift and i will be in your debt forever because of it. and in your last vlogs talking about how you were scared to take meds for your postpartum depression i felt SO seen. ive been holding off seeking therapeutic help for my dermatillomania because ive been so scared about a diagnosis and having to take medications (not something i would EVER judge anyone else for but for some reason was a huge mental hurdle for me) but i always felt so terrible for thinking that, so i can't thank you enough for your honesty and vulnerability because it's empowered and inspired me tremendously. thank you so much for all you do, we love you!
Me too! I didn't know dermatillomania was a thing until Colleen mentioned it and instantly I related and knew thats what I have struggled with for years. When Colleen talked about it I already had mine under control but it was really nice to know I wasnt alone.
Good luck on your journey! I remember being kind of shocked when I found out my picking was an actual mental disorder, but labeling it helps you find others going through a similar thing. Be kind to yourself. 🧡
Ashley, you are such a powerful human that the world is lucky to have. I am a huge advocate for medication and seeking help when you need it. Counseling for me was just the relief of someone telling me that what I’m experiencing is normal and can get better.

I have quite minor dermatillomania but I've always just thought I was gross and was so embarrassed, colleen was the first person who gave it a name and made me realise it not just I have no will power, hope see knows how much she helps
Hello! I have a tortilla talk question: Would you guys be up to doing a little tortilla talk session with Flynn earlier in the day (so he doesn't have to stay up too late)? We can ask him some questions about his hobbies/thoughts on the twins/favorite foods etc. Idk I thought it would be really cute seeing him answer questions
I like how Colleen's vlogs don’t center around her kids being in them. I know you mean well and he could verbalize, “yes, I want to answer questions,” but he doesn’t really know whatnot that means. He doesn’t know where what he says is going.
@@chloe_3787 lol I never said "make him answer questions against his will" like of course with verbal consent. And it was never intended as a way to "center her channel around her kids". She can do what ever she wants. He is in the vlogs, he records himself, he's given the camera sometimes to entertain us, we see him often which is great and it would be great the other way around. I made sure to say "if you guys were up to it" meaning they got the choice, BOTH her and Flynn collectively. He seemed to show interest in the camera/her subscribers so I just thought it could be a cute thing for him to do. There are already tortilla talk questions that regard her kids. She informs us on new hobbies and activities they do, new haircuts, interests they have, etc. This wasn't intended to be anything different but information coming from the source. So many questions here are about the twins and how they are, what they are like. Honestly, since she's had kids, they've been in the vlogs a lot, maybe not physically but she's always mentioning them which I think is awesome if that's what she chooses to talk about. So sure her vlogs might not "center around her kids" but you have to admit they're in them a lot. Which is not a bad thing at all. I mentioned this only because he seemed to show interest in the camera and who we were at times and I thought, for him, it could be fun to show off his trucks and really talk about his interests, put the "spotlight" on him for a little bit especially since he's now got two little ones who I'm sure are taking up his parents time. Thank you for your feedback and concern I guess I could call it but it felt like I was being criticized for something I wasn't doing. You seemed to interpret my intentions with this question drastically incorrect. Not trynna cause conflict it was just a question. Sorry if it upset you

Not only is it incredible when somebody can recognize that they need medication it's also such a privilege to be able to afford it and have access to it!
You feel like a best friend to us too!!! I sometimes even have moments where I'm like, "wait I don't actually know her or her family in real life and cant just call her up," because you've created such a comforting and close environment with your vlogs! I am so grateful for how open you are with us and how much comfort you have brought me. Watching your vlogs have gotten me through some of my darkest moments in life and given me moments of peace when that felt impossible.
Also as someone who is on and has been on several medications for my mental health, it is so nice to hear you talking about it. And we should treat it just as we would any other medication for any other health concern, because it is the same. We love you!!

Yes, it’s no different taking meds for your mental health than taking something for your physical health. We all have different wiring in our brains and they function different. And people have gone through different things, which can bring up mental health struggles too. It’s so brave to get help.

I used those bottles 17 years ago and it is a lot of work. I do believe they worked though. I am so excited to continue to see the babies as they grow up same as we did with Flynn!!

Girl switch their bottles!! Pretty much all bottles nowadays are “anti colic”, I recommend evenflo balance or lansinoh. Only 3 parts, and they’re the only bottles my son would take after switching from Dr Browns. Those inserts are the biggest pain!
My colic baby couldn’t use dr browns because they flowed too fast. It’s like it removes the suction or something. My daughter preferred cheap evenflo bottles.
Como Tomo bottles are fantastic and super easy to clean too!!!
We loved tommee tippee for our breastfed babies
My Son HATES every bottle except the cheap Evenflo bottles and he’s a breastfed/Formula Fed baby

Tortilla question: you’ve said that Gus is not a nice cat, how do you deal with Gus being around the kids? This is something I’m worried about because my cat can be very sassy and that’s a worry of my partner and mine for when we have kids.
Im not Colleen but I do have a pet like that and he had to be around children at some point. I think boundaries are important. Its important to know your pet and their limits and stop things way before they get there. Its also best to keep any interaction supervised and SUPER important to teach kids to be gentle with pets and give space when needed (this is a plus cause it also ends up teaching kids boundaries with people and how sometimes people need space and to be left alone)
In the end, just the fact that youre thinking about it I think shows that you care and are being careful, everything is gonna be fine!

Great idea about using formula before bedtime! My babies (15+ years ago)usually did sleep longer after a bottle of formula. One little tip… maybe give some (an ounce or two)to Wesley sometime during the day to make sure he likes it and tolerates it. Nothing is worse than trying something new at bed time only to discover the baby doesn’t like it. Its all going to work out!!

That was so funny when you were describing people you know basically finding your public diary. 😂 I also take medication for anxiety! I was honestly excited to try it. I felt like I had been struggling for so long, and I was so hopeful about finding something that would help. I feel so much better now! I still have dermatillomania, but my daily anxieties are way better. Love to you! 🧡

Hearing you talk about body positivity and doing what’s right for your body in any sense has helped me SO much in eating disorder recovery. In the drive thru line at McDonald’s as we speak!!
No I feel the same thing. Like I would tell a stranger anything but then if my parents or something heard what I told them I would feel so weird and embarrassed.

You definitely made a lot of sense when you were talking about the difference between us knowing and people from your life knowing what you post! Honestly, that is one thing that has stopped me from making a TH-cam channel or making content on other platforms, because the thought of everyone I know seeing it is terrifying

We love you. You’re support and continuous kind words… it’s also I feel, a safe place for us to come. Myself and I’m sure so many others also feel this closeness with you even though we don’t know each other personally. I come to watch these videos to “hang out” with one of my dear friends and her family. I can totally relate too. I have also been taking anti depressants for a while now and this had made me feel so much better because I felt alone for so long and I thought I was the only one who felt this way. I always want to not have to get better because its so hard to admit I have it even to my own doctors. I have watched your vlogs for years now and I appreciate how real you are and how you don't try to cover up the hardships but you stand strong and accept it and keep being the best mama to your babies. I love you!

When I watch your vids I always feel like I'm in the room with you and we have a personal relationship. I know I don't actually but it feels like I'm listening to a close friend! Also the comparison with the medication and glasses was so true and it is nice that you are trying to explain to people who shame people for taking medicine instead of shaming them!
i've been taking adhd meds for 6 years and antidepressants for 5 years. it has been hard to find the perfect dosages but i finally did recently and it is sooooooo amazing
The fact that you are so talented 💖and so down to earth 🥰 and able to open yourself up to be vulnerable and vlog about how mental health matters,….. and how you are currently working through the truth of the matter (medicine can be a very necessary and helpful tool in the toolbox for mental health!) is helping soooo many people 😀 Despite our acceptance and encouragement for our friends who take anxiety, depression, etc. medications …. it still can be SO hard to be gentle and non judgmental with ourselves. The stigma surrounding taking mental health medication is slowly starting to breakdown, but the lack of kindness we have for ourselves when taking such meds shows how we still have a ways to go. Thank you for shining your light! And for your honesty! 💖 We love & appreciate you 💖
I don’t really comment ever because I watch in my TV, but watching the vlog about your medication really hit home for me. It’s hard to feel like you aren’t in control of your brain and need help with it. It feels different when it’s *your* head. so true. being a Russian, i can't stop feeling so, so, so immensely sorry for what's going on and basically crying from despair and powerlessness. i hope this kind of international pressure will stop the authorities of my country (whom i have never supported nor will support if someone wonders!). so many of us here just want peace. so thank you Colleen for spreading this kind message!
