Tortilla talk: Have you ever talked to Erik about getting a vasectomy so you know you might never get pregnant? Vasectomies are almost completely reversable and is a viable male birth control.
You should never go into a vasectomy thinking it's completely reversible and that you can reverse it one day because the truth is that 90-95% are successfully revered and there's always the chance that you could be part of the 10-5% of the men who don't have successful reversals. Remember that 10% of all humans is still 750 million. So one should never go into a vasectomy thinking that there's a 100% chance of reversal.

Yes! And also, we don’t talk enough about how stressful and complicated birth control is for so many people. They mess a lot with your hormones and the side effects are also tricky. If they’re sure they don’t want more kids, a vasectomy is the best option. My opinion, of course.

I have been making fun of my husband for the Chapstick thing for YEARS! I feel so validated! I actually have to switch out his Chapstick with mine because he "sharpens" them with his pursed lips and I have to wear them down more evenly.

If you're worried about getting pregnant again ask Eric to get a snip snip it's less invasive for him than it is for you to get your tubes tied. I got my tubes tied and it wasn't a painful recovery but it is a full day in the hospital and going into the surgery.

A vasectomy still isn't 100% effective though, this means she could still get pregnant, all forms of birth control aren't 100% effective which is why you need to be extremely careful.

I've also been present during a vasectomy procedure. It's one of the most effective forms of birth control, and it's minimally-invasive. Again, the effectiveness is still over 99.99%.

Colleen! I work at a smoothie shop. You didn’t make your smoothie wrong; fresh banana can be weird in smoothies. Try frozen banana. It’s sweeter without the aftertaste. It truly makes all the difference. Also try putting your liquids first, then spinach, then fruit on top!! It’ll help the spinach blend. I love you!

Watching this in the hospital with my newborn baby! Had to get an emergency c-section which was scary and upsetting but it was comforting to know that u did it and got through it and u and the babies r healthy! LDRP nurse/Lactation consultant here: I am surprised you are having periods with pumping around the clock and especially pumping as much as you are... your period will likely not be regular as long as you are pumping. Expect irregularity (what you are considering to be "late" periods) for as long as you are pumping around the clock. Many women do not ovulate or have periods while nursing/pumping around the clock. It is like nature's birth control... obviously NOT a fool proof method of birth control. Of course if you are having periods, then you are ovulating and can get pregnant again... however, I was honestly surprised when you announced that you had started your period so soon after the birth of the twins with how often you are pumping!
Would just like to reiterate what you said because not to long ago I read somewhere that this lady got pregnant while breastfeeding and was surprised to find out because she always thought breastfeeding was a "kind of birth control." It can totally happen, so be careful!!

Okay, genuine question and you absolutely don’t owe me or anyone an answer, but have you considered either tubal ligation for you or vasectomy for Erik if you’re sure you’re absolutely done with having babies? It might ease your mind/the anxiety surrounding potentially unexpectedly getting pregnant again? I mean, do whatever works best for you and your family, but just know there’s more options than just the pill and if something hasn’t worked for you in the past, there’s no harm in trying a new brand or type!

Yeah, also subdermal implants exist and they are even less invasive and they are reversable since they only last 3 years and you can remove it at any moment. There are a lot of options beside the pill.
And to add to that - vasectomies are reversible (if you reverse within 10 years it’s apparently 95% effective), way more affordable (compared to tubal ligation), and is an in-and-out procedure. Random fun facts for people looking for something more certain as we looked into it awhile ago haha just wanted to add to the convo 🤗

Just curious, why don't you ask Erik to get a vasectomy at this point to completely rule it out? I feel like if you are seriously done having kids, that would be one of the best ways to ensure you don't get pregnant. That decision has worked for us since we are "one and done" and it's so nice not to have to worry about birth control anymore!

I have meaning to write this for months. I just want to say thank you so much for your vlogs. My best friend and I were lucky enough to work together during her 1st pregnancy 5 years ago. I was there with her everyday through the hormones, cravings, and watched her belly grow. After the healthy baby boy was born, the company we worked for closed down and we couldn't work together anymore. 2 years ago, she became pregnant again and this time with twins! Baby A was the boy and Baby B was the girl. I live almost an hour away and was not able to spend any time with her before the babies and then COVID set in. Through your vlogs, I feel like I have been able to reclaim the time I had missed during her twin pregnancy. It's exactly like getting to spend some time with my best friend everyday. Tortilla Talks are definitely similiar to the chats she and I used to have. So next you're questioning why anyone would want to watch your "boring" content, know that I'm here, spending time with you (who is now also my bestie).

I did the HARD work of two pregnancies with HG, and obviously the births. I don't react well to birth control, plus I'VE DONE ALL THE WORK AND I NURSE. 🤦🏼♀️ My husband was instantly on board with getting a vasectomy! It was SO easy and quick for him! We're both so much happier now, it's such a relief! What do people mean when they say, “we tried everything we can NOT to get pregnant but end up pregnant anyway.” Can someone help me understand this? How accidental can you get about getting pregnant? It seems like an intentional activity to me. If you try everything you can, isn’t it just about abstaining entirely or at best using protection and being on BC? Not trying to be mean or judgmental. Genuine question.
They're a married couple, so of course they're not going to abstain completely for the rest of their lives. Birth control can and does fail, so there is always a risk even if you take multiple different measures.

On average, birth control when used correctly is effective against pregnancy about 91% of the time. Condoms are effective around 98% of the time.
Consider that while both percentages seem high, this still means that out of 100 people, 9 would still get pregnant on BC, and 2 after using a condom. Using multiple methods isn't foolproof, either. The general rate of pregnancy when using both is closer to 99%, but again, one person out of 100.
I think most of them aren't being sincere or self honest. Very very rarely people fall pregnant on the IUD or after having tubes tied etc, but so many people say that and I'm like hmmmm ok
I’m just putting this out there in case it hasn’t been stated but: if you become pregnant again and you’re unhappy about it or it’s not the right time-you are under zero obligation to keep that pregnancy and I hope you know and feel this. marriage and previous kids does not mean that you have to continue with every pregnancy and you should feel no shame in that

TTQ: Have you thought about more permanent means like a vasectomy or getting your tubes tied? I was wondering if you contemplated doing this during the C-section since they would be in there. Then you wouldn't need to take any pills or anything.
These options are still not 100% accurate; this means that she could still get pregnant even if they tried not to, there has been some people that have had their tubes tied or have a vasectomy and they have still got pregnant or got their partner pregnant.

You are always so open about mental health, which I personally have been struggling with. My mom is a single parent, my sister isn't doing well, and my grandma was just diagnosed with some really tough illnesses. TTQ: why don’t you use your dishwasher for washing the bottles??I wasn’t fortunate enough to produce milk for my son (3 months younger then Flynn) and was so envious of you while you breastfed him but also had perks of bottle feeding… my husband could feed him while I showered or whatever else.. you know. BUT, we don’t own a dishwasher and washing bottles is hell. We also used Dr. browns bottles bc that’s what worked best for my son and we did purchase a bottle sanitizer for our countertop bc I didn’t always trust our hand washing. I would literally dream about owning a dishwasher… you’re privileged enough to have one AND could buy a bottle sanitizer if you wanted to with no problem at all. I don’t understand why you would continue to do something you despise so much while having all the funds and space to take that burden off of yourself. For the sake of you and all your guest/family who help you out, just do a bottle only dishwashing load & buy a bottle sanitizer to use after they’ve been washed.
I would ask Erik to get a vasectomy just to make certain that you don't add to your family. If you're concerned that you might change your mind, you have the choice to store samples.
tortilla question: have you guys considered vasectomy or male birth control. birth control and female hormones really mess with your body and can cause lots of anxiety which you’ve talked about your experiences before. I’m just wondering because the possibility of being pregnant is a big fear of yours and you want to take all the precautions you can.
A vasectomy still isn't 100% effective though, this means she could still get pregnant, all forms of birth control aren't 100% effective which is why you need to be extremely careful
I think that girls put on chapstick the way we do because that’s how we put on lipstick so we’re used to it. Going one lip at a time because with lipstick you need to be more precise and can’t just blindly slather it on quickly.
Whereas most guys never had to learn how to properly put on lipstick so pressing your lips together and putting chapstick on both lips at once is technically more efficient, and it doesn’t matter if the chapstick doesn’t perfectly follow your lip shape.

Do you think your past couple of days being rough emotionally has anything to do with your upcoming period? I've been crying/wanting to cry so much the last couple of days (which isn't typical). Today I started spotting so my period will be starting VERY soon so now the emotions make sense. I couldn't imagine feeling the way I have on top of having 3 young kids. You got this mama!
It also could be because of the contraceptive she's on. I was put on one after my baby and it didn't agree with me at all. I was so depressed and anxious, the hormones post baby and the hormones from the pill did not work for me at all. She should look into it! ❤️
